The children's home St. Vincent's social center is a child protection institution, common utility private, non-profit, linked to the National Family Welfare System in accordance with the provisions of the law in July 1979 and its regulatory Decree 2388 the same year, therefore subjected to the rules that govern it, taking into account the provisions on the subject adopted the national government. The children's home St. Vincent community center and contributes to strengthening family life, social and institutional development through promotion and prevention, generating different strategies towards active inclusion of the family and institution as integral development bilógicos aspects, cognitive , psychomotor, socio-affective and spiritual prevailing recognition of equality and human dignity without discrimination. Thus was born the need to create processes and interventions to unify and work the link psycho from the individual, group and family in different contexts. It was proposed by the University through targeted professional experience, and according to an initial diagnosis made the second half of 2012, which shows that children Children's Home, families and group of employees, mostly externalized inadequate attitude, behavior at the time of relating, disrespect grabbing the other aggressive acts and habits within the peer group, children (as) and family, leading to experience total isolation and apathy in different context. This affirms the interest and quality in the search for tools to care and guidance where love, interest and ownership prevail, to achieve internalize socio-emotional development, as the child plays a key role in strengthening of his personality, being essential for strengthening established relationships with parents, siblings, teachers, children and adults around, which is to guide your life, that is, take the child gradually relate their environment, peers, and on the other hand, allow insights into society and their role in it, during the time of care and guidance, the aim is to work together with the family, considering that from there you can answer many of the problems of conduct for the benefit of children in which to promote and strengthen family relationships is helpful to prevent improper attitudes and behaviors. Alternatively main intervention is to generate an improvement in family dynamics important considering the transformation from the family, those patterns of behaviors and attitudes that cause emotional instability in children, family and employees of the Children's Home St. Vincent Community Centre

Effect of a DC Electric field on the melting temperature, nucleation and ice growth rate of the TIP4P/ICE water model

Understanding the effect of electric fields on the thermal stability and phase transitions of water could have potential applications in the food industry, cryopreservation, and environmental science. In this work, we investigate the effect of a static electric field on the melting temperature (Tm), ice nucleation and ice growth rate of two phases of ice, hexagonal ice (Ih) and ferroelectric cubic ice (Icf), for the TIP4P/ICE water model. By means of direct coexistence simulations, we establish that Tm of Ice Ih is shifted toward lower values, whereas Tm of Ice Icf grows, becoming the most stable ice phase for sufficiently largevalues of the applied electric field. We also investigate ice nucleation for both ice phases under an external electric field and find that, for a given supercooling with respect to Tm, while the field slows down the nucleation rate of ice Ih significantly, it barely affects that of ice Icf, due to the enhanced ability of water molecules to orient favorably along the direction of the field in the latter phase. In terms of absolute temperature, overall ice formation is promoted by the electric field because it increases the melting point of ice Icf. Finally, we show how the electric field slows down the crystal growth of Ice Ih and increases that of Ice Icf by a factor of about two

Biorefinery of biomass of agro-Industrial banana waste to obtain high-value biopolymers

On a worldwide scale, food demand is increasing as a consequence of global population growth. This makes companies push their food supply chains’ limits with a consequent increase in generation of large amounts of untreated waste that are considered of no value to them. Biorefinery technologies offer a suitable alternative for obtaining high-value products by using unconventional raw materials, such as agro-industrial waste. Currently, most biorefineries aim to take advantage of specific residues (by either chemical, biotechnological, or physical treatments) provided by agro-industry in order to develop high-value products for either in-house use or for sale purposes. This article reviews the currently explored possibilities to apply biorefinery-known processes to banana agro-industrial waste in order to generate high-value products out of this residual biomass source. Firstly, the Central and Latin American context regarding biomass and banana residues is presented, followed by advantages of using banana residues as raw materials for the production of distinct biofuels, nanocellulose fibers, different bioplastics, and other high-value products Lastly, additional uses of banana biomass residues are presented, including energy generation and water treatmen

Dual regulation of the T-type Ca2+ current by serum albumin and β-estradiol in mammalian spermatogenic cells

AbstractThis study provides evidence for a novel mechanism of voltage-gated Ca2+ channel regulation in mammalian spermatogenic cells by two agents that affect sperm capacitation and the acrosome reaction (AR). Patch-clamp experiments demonstrated that serum albumin induced an increase in Ca2+ T current density in a concentration-dependent manner, and significant shifts in the voltage dependence of both steady-state activation and inactivation of the channels. These actions were not related to the ability of albumin to remove cholesterol from the membrane. In contrast, β-estradiol significantly inhibited Ca2+ channel activity in a concentration-dependent and essentially voltage-independent fashion. In mature sperm this dual regulation may influence capacitation and/or the AR

Wavelength calibration for OSIRIS/GTC* tunable filters

OSIRIS (Optical System for Imaging and low Resolution Integrated Spectroscopy) is the first light instrument of the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC). It provides a flexible and competitive tunable filter (TF). Since it is based on a Fabry-Perot interferometer working in collimated beam, the TF transmission wavelength depends on the position of the target with respect to the optical axis. This effect is non-negligible and must be accounted for in the data reduction. Our paper establishes a wavelength calibration for OSIRIS TF with the accuracy required for spectrophotometric measurements using the full field of view (FOV) of the instrument. The variation of the transmission wavelength λ(R)\lambda(R) across the FOV is well described by λ(R)=λ(0)/1+(R/f2)2\lambda(R)=\lambda(0)/\sqrt{1+(R/f_2)^2}, where λ(0)\lambda(0) is the central wavelength, RR represents the physical distance from the optical axis, and f2=185.70±0.17 f_2=185.70\pm0.17\,mm is the effective focal length of the camera lens. This new empirical calibration yields an accuracy better than 1\,\AA\ across the entire OSIRIS FOV (∼\sim8\arcmin×\times8\arcmin), provided that the position of the optical axis is known within 45 μ\mum (≡\equiv 1.5 binned pixels). We suggest a calibration protocol to grant such precision over long periods, upon re-alignment of OSIRIS optics, and in different wavelength ranges. This calibration differs from the calibration in OSIRIS manual which, nonetheless, provides an accuracy ≲1\lesssim1\AA\, for R\lesssim 2\arcmin.Comment: 22 pages, 7 figures, accepted for publication in PAS

    Vacuum Instabilities with a Wrong-Sign Higgs-Gluon-Gluon Amplitude

The recently discovered 125 GeV boson appears very similar to a Standard Model Higgs, but with data favoring an enhanced h to gamma gamma rate. A number of groups have found that fits would allow (or, less so after the latest updates, prefer) that the h-t-tbar coupling have the opposite sign. This can be given meaning in the context of an electroweak chiral Lagrangian, but it might also be interpreted to mean that a new colored and charged particle runs in loops and produces the opposite-sign hGG amplitude to that generated by integrating out the top, as well as a contribution reinforcing the W-loop contribution to hFF. In order to not suppress the rate of h to WW and h to ZZ, which appear to be approximately Standard Model-like, one would need the loop to "overshoot," not only canceling the top contribution but producing an opposite-sign hGG vertex of about the same magnitude as that in the SM. We argue that most such explanations have severe problems with fine-tuning and, more importantly, vacuum stability. In particular, the case of stop loops producing an opposite-sign hGG vertex of the same size as the Standard Model one is ruled out by a combination of vacuum decay bounds and LEP constraints. We also show that scenarios with a sign flip from loops of color octet charged scalars or new fermionic states are highly constrained.Comment: 20 pages, 8 figures; v2: references adde
