Study of neutron multiplicity in 232^{232}Th (n,f) reaction using TALYS-1.96

The nuclear scientific community views 232^{232}Th as an option for fuel in the future nuclear energy program. Numerous experimental studies have been conducted to determine the cross-section; however, very few have been performed to calculate the total neutron multiplicity above 10 MeV energy. In this work, we have compared the experimental data of average neutron multiplicity at different incident energies from EXFOR with the evaluated data from ENDF/B-VI, JENDL-4.0, and the calculated data from TALYS-1.96. The experimental data are in good agreement with the evaluated data from both the ENDF/B-VI and JENDL-4.0 libraries and at high incident energy (7 MeV), the TALYS-1.96 data are also in agreement with the experimental data

Thermal analysis of 155 Gun barrel is an important aspect of designing the gun barrel and deciding the maximum firing rate. The performance of any artillery depends upon the thermal behaviour of the gun barrel among various factors, and its availability for continuous firing depends on the maximum bore temperature and cook-off time of the barrel. In this paper, the effect of maximum bore temperature, cook-off, active cooling is reviewed. Heat transfer to the gun barrel surface is calculated using analytical analysis with given ammunition parameters. Analytical and finite element analysis of maximum bore temperature and cook-off time is also included. Finite element analysis of external Jacket water cooling of the barrel shows that the gun can fire continuously at three rounds per minute without reaching cook-off temperature

SmartEAR: Smartwatch-based Unsupervised Learning for Multi-modal Signal Analysis in Opportunistic Sensing Framework

Wrist-bands such as smartwatches have become an unobtrusive interface for collecting physiological and contextual data from users. Smartwatches are being used for smart healthcare, telecare, and wellness monitoring. In this paper, we used data collected from the AnEAR framework leveraging smartwatches to gather and store physiological data from patients in naturalistic settings. This data included temperature, galvanic skin response (GSR), acceleration, and heart rate (HR). In particular, we focused on HR and acceleration, as these two modalities are often correlated. Since the data was unlabeled we relied on unsupervised learning for multi-modal signal analysis. We propose using k-means clustering, GMM clustering, and Self-Organizing maps based on Neural Networks for group the multi-modal data into homogeneous clusters. This strategy helped in discovering latent structures in our data

Review of the selection Criteria for energy auditor to identify the energy efficient projects

    Get PDF
this study indicated the role of energy auditor to identify the energy efficient projects. Three main types of audits are: Preliminary, Single Purpose, and Comprehensive. Selecting the appropriate type of audit for your facility saves you time and money. Each type is distinguished by the level of detail and analysis required to complete the audit. The less detailed the audit, the less accurate the estimates of project costs and energy savings. Depending on your organization’s contracting requirements, the consultant who will conduct the energy audit and prepare the technical report can be selected either by sole source or competitive bid. The cost of an audit can be determined through price negotiations or competitive bidding. In either case, you must inform the bidders of the scope of the audit and its minimum reporting and analytical requirements, such as those contained in the Energy Commission’s feasibility study guide. This is to ensure that you are getting audit costs for comparable work

Comparison Study and Review on Object-Oriented Metrics

The best elucidations to software development problems are regularly touted as object-oriented processes. The popularity of object-oriented design metrics is essential in software engineering for measuring the software complexity, estimating size, quality and project efforts. There are various approaches through which we can find the software cost estimation and predicates on various kinds of deliverable items. Object-oriented metrics assures to reduce cost and the maintenance effort by serving as early predictors to estimate software faults. Such an early quantification augments the quality of the final software. This paper reviews object-oriented metrics. A comparison table is maintained via which we can analyze the difference between all the object-oriented metrics effectively

Background: The objective was to find the role of maternal serum C- reactive protein and Chlamydia trachomatis IgG antibodies as predictors of preterm delivery. Methods: This prospective study was conducted in UISEMH, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, GSVM Medical College, Kanpur from September 2011 to September 2013. The present study comprised of a total of 100 cases, out of which 50 were in study group and 50 in control group. Cases were compared with respect to presence of Chlamydia trachomatis antibodies and maternal C- reactive protein levels. Results: CRP levels were higher and C. trachomatis immunoglobulin G levels were more often present in the women with preterm deliveries. A total of 20 cases (40%) were found to be seropositive for IgG antibodies to C. trachomatis. The seropositive women were significantly more likely to have a preterm birth (75% [15/20] v. 40% [12/30]; p = 0.0182, odds ratio 4.50, 95% CI 1.29 to 15.67). In study group 21 cases were CRP positive (42%). The CRP positive women were significantly more likely to have a preterm birth (76.2% [16/21] v. 37.93 % [11/29]; p = 0.009, odds ratio 5.24, 95% CI 1.49 to 18.34). Thus risk of preterm delivery was greater in seropositive women and in CRP positive women. Conclusion: The detection of maternal serum C- reactive protein and antichlamydial antibodies are valuable, non-invasive diagnostic procedure for prediction of preterm delivery and can be used as predictors of preterm delivery

Nucleic acid drugs: a novel approach

    Get PDF
Nucleic acid base sequence of proteins plays a crucial role in the expression of gene. The gene is responsible for the synthesis of proteins and these proteins, which are synthesized, are responsible for the biological process and also for dreadful diseases as well. Once if the nucleic acid sequence is altered, we would be able to block or transfer the message for protein synthesis, there by preventing the particular protein, which is responsible for the disease. These nucleic acids act as drugs by different mechanisms, they may bind with the synthesized proteins, and they can hybridize to a messenger RNA leading to translation arrest or may induce degradation to target RNA. In this way the nucleic acids act as drug for inhibiting gene expression or protein synthesis. This article examines about the different types of nucleic acid drugs, their mechanisms, advantages, drawbacks and their future prospects. Key Words: Aptamers, ribozymes, antisense oligonucleotides. Comparative Study of Cost and Power Consumption of HVAC System Using Phase Change Material

    Get PDF
Phase change materials (PCM) are materials which absorb the latent heat of the surrounding air. They usually have characteristics such as near to constant temperature operating range with high energy density of melting from solidified state. Nowadays, heating ventilation & air conditioning (HVAC) of commercial & domestic buildings, green rooms in pharmaceutical companies is necessary for maintaining desired atmospheric condition inside the building compound for optimum working environment. For doing so, lot of energy is consumed in this process. Therefore, there is a need of reduction in power consumption where PCM finds a huge market. These materials store the latent heat of the net heat available as latent heat thermal energy without increase in its temperature. Thus, there is a large scope for its usage for reducing the heat load for refrigerating effect for a specified area. This paper intends to compare the variation in heat load calculation of air refrigerated areas like that in commercial buildings, domestic purposes, industrial applications etc. with and without the use of PCM materials
