Spatial Structure of Stationary Nonequilibrium States in the Thermostatted Periodic Lorentz Gas
We investigate analytically and numerically the spatial structure of the
non-equilibrium stationary states (NESS) of a point particle moving in a two
dimensional periodic Lorentz gas (Sinai Billiard). The particle is subject to a
constant external electric field E as well as a Gaussian thermostat which keeps
the speed |v| constant. We show that despite the singular nature of the SRB
measure its projections on the space coordinates are absolutely continuous. We
further show that these projections satisfy linear response laws for small E.
Some of them are computed numerically. We compare these results with those
obtained from simple models in which the collisions with the obstacles are
replaced by random collisions.Similarities and differences are noted.Comment: 24 pages with 9 figure
Implications of Recent Measurements of Hadronic Charmless B Decays
Implications of recent CLEO measurements of hadronic charmless B decays are
discussed. (i) Employing the Bauer-Stech-Wirbel (BSW) model for form factors as
a benchmark, the data indicate that the form factor
is smaller than that predicted by the BSW model, whereas the
data of imply that the form factors are greater than the BSW model's values. (ii) The tree-dominated
modes imply that the effective
number of colors N_c(LL) for (V-A)(V-A) operators is preferred to be smaller,
while the current limit on shows that N_c(LR)>3. The data of and clearly indicate that . (iii) In
order to understand the observed suppression of and
non-suppression of modes, both being governed by the form factor
, the unitarity angle is preferred to be greater than
. By contrast, the new measurement of no
longer strongly favors . (iv) The observed pattern K^-\pi^+\sim
\ov K^0\pi^-\sim {2\over 3}K^-\pi^0 is consistent with the theoretical
expectation: The constructive interference between electroweak and QCD penguin
diagrams in the mode explains why {\cal B}(B^-\to K^-\pi^0)>{1\over
2}{\cal B}(\ov B^0\to K^-\pi^+). (v) The observation \nc(LL)<3<\nc(LR) and
our preference for \nc(LL)\sim 2 and \nc(LR)\sim 6 are justified by a
recent perturbative QCD calculation of hadronic rare B decays in the heavy

Phenomenological Analysis of B->PP Decays with QCD Factorization
In this paper, we study nonleptonic charmless B decays to two light
pseudoscalar mesons within the frame of QCD factorization, including the
contributions from the chirally enhanced power corrections and weak
annihilation. Predictions for the CP-averaged branching ratios and CP-violating
asymmetries are given. Within the reasonable range of the parameters, we find
that our predictions for the branching ratios of B -> PP are consistent with
the present experimental data. But because of the logarithmic divergences at
the endpoints in the hard spectator scatterings and weak annihilation, there
are still large uncertainties in these predictions.Comment: 34 pages, 5 figures. to appear in PR
Charmless hadronic decays and new physics effects in the general two-Higgs doublet models
Based on the low-energy effective Hamiltonian with the generalized
factorization, we calculate the new physics contributions to the branching
ratios of the two-body charmless hadronic decays of and mesons
induced by the new gluonic and electroweak charged-Higgs penguin diagrams in
the general two-Higgs doublet models (models I, II and III). Within the
considered parameter space, we find that: (a) the new physics effects from new
gluonic penguin diagrams strongly dominate over those from the new -
and - penguin diagrams; (b) in models I and II, new physics contributions
to most studied B meson decay channels are rather small in size: from -15% to
20%; (c) in model III, however, the new physics enhancements to the
penguin-dominated decay modes can be significant, , and
therefore are measurable in forthcoming high precision B experiments; (d) the
new physics enhancements to ratios {\cal B}(B \to K \etap) are significant in
model III, , and hence provide a simple and plausible new
physics interpretation for the observed unexpectedly large B \to K \etap
decay rates; (e) the theoretical predictions for and
in model III are still consistent with the data
within errors; (f) the significant new physics enhancements to the
branching ratios of and decays are helpful to improve the
agreement between the data and the theoretical predictions; (g) the theoretical
predictions of in the 2HDM's are generally

Evaluation of Neonatal Brain Development Using Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse Imaging (ARFI)
We applied acoustic radiation force impulse imaging (ARFI) for examination of the brains of
41 neonatal infants of different gestational ages. We used a new technical index, Virtual Touch
tissue quantification (VTQ), to evaluate elastic properties of the brain tissues. Different brain
tissues demonstrated different values of this index. The greater the gestational age, the higher
the VTQ value. We conclude that ARFI provides a new quantitative index to evaluate the
level of neonatal brain development and increases the objectivity and reliability of clinical
analysis. The method is noninvasive, safe, simple, convenient, and can be extensively applied
in clinics.Досліджували результати візуалізації впливу силових імпульсів акустичного випромінювання (ARFI), вивчаючи
головний мозок 41 новонародженого з різними термінами гестації. Ми використовували новий технічний індекс
Virtual Touch Quantification (VTQ) для оцінки еластичних
властивостей тканин мозку. У різних тканин мозку значення даного індексу були відмінними. Ми дійшли висновку,
що методика ARFI дозволяє отримати новий кількісний показник для оцінки ступеню розвитку неонатального мозку;
це збільшує об’єктивність та надійність клінічних аналізів.
Метод є неінвазивним, безпечним, простим та зручним і
може знайти широке застосування в клініці
Charm multiplicity and the branching ratios of inclusive charmless b quark decays in the general two-Higgs-doublet models
In the framework of general two-Higgs-doublet models, we calculate the
branching ratios of various inclusive charmless b decays by using the low
energy effective Hamiltonian including next-to-leading order QCD corrections,
and examine the current status and the new physics effects on the determination
of the charm multiplicity and semileptonic branching ratio .
Within the considered parameter space, the enhancement to the ratio due to the charged-Higgs penguins can be as large as a factor of 8 (3) in
the model III (II), while the ratio can be increased from
the standard model prediction of 2.49% to 4.91% (2.99%) in the model III (II).
Consequently, the value of and can be decreased simultaneously
in the model III. The central value of will be lowered slightly by
about 0.003, but the ratio can be reduced significantly from the
theoretical prediction of in the SM to , for GeV, respectively. We find that
the predicted and the measured now agree within roughly one
standard deviation after taking into account the effects of gluonic charged
Higgs penguins in the model III with a relatively light charged Higgs boson.Comment: 25 pages, Latex file, axodraw.sty, 6 figures. Final version to be

The transition form factors for semi-leptonic weak decays of in QCD sum rules
Within the Standard Model, we investigate the semi-leptonic weak decays of
. The various form factors of transiting to a single charmed
meson () are studied in the framework of the QCD sum rules.
These form factors fully determine the rates of the weak semi-leptonic decays
of and provide valuable information about the non-perturbative QCD
effects. Our results indicate that the decay rate of the semi-leptonic weak
decay mode is at order of .Comment: 28 pages, 6 figures, revised version to be published in Eur.Phys.J.
Partial Wave Analysis of
BES data on are presented. The
contribution peaks strongly near threshold. It is fitted with a
broad resonance with mass MeV, width MeV. A broad resonance peaking at 2020 MeV is also required
with width MeV. There is further evidence for a component
peaking at 2.55 GeV. The non- contribution is close to phase
