Imaging the environmental ultraviolet

A technique has been developed to visually represent measured environmental ultraviolet radiation using a digital photograph and measurements of the UV and visible light intensity. The method involves the use of a personal pocket UV meter, an optional lux meter and a simple image processing technique to present visual images that are weighted to the ambient ultraviolet, providing images that highlight regions of high ultraviolet intensity that can be compared with a visible photograph. The technique described, provides a method students can follow to better develop an understanding of the potentially harmful ultraviolet irradiance with respect to visible daylight, indicating that the ambient ultraviolet and visible environment are not directly related, with ultraviolet intensity being dependent on many different factors and not the visual brightness of the location alone

Analysis of data systems requirements for global crop production forecasting in the 1985 time frame

Data systems concepts that would be needed to implement the objective of the global crop production forecasting in an orderly transition from experimental to operational status in the 1985 time frame were examined. Information needs of users were converted into data system requirements, and the influence of these requirements on the formulation of a conceptual data system was analyzed. Any potential problem areas in meeting these data system requirements were identified in an iterative process

The well established system of buying and selling butter and cheese on the basis of quality by score or grade is practiced in the principal markets of the world. The Status of Empathetic Listening Instruction for Conflict Management in Iowa\u27s Teacher Education Institutions

It is the purpose of this paper to explore literature that discusses empathic listening as an effective tool for conflict management. Further, this study surveys current empathic listening instruction in Iowa\u27s teacher-preparation institutions. The basis for this research focuses on the following questions: (1) Does the literature suggest a link between empathic listening and conflict management? (2) Does the literature suggest effective methods for empathic listening instruction? and (3) What instructional methods for empathic listening are currently utilized in teacher-training programs
