    Learning Graph Embeddings from WordNet-based Similarity Measures

    We present path2vec, a new approach for learning graph embeddings that relies on structural measures of pairwise node similarities. The model learns representations for nodes in a dense space that approximate a given user-defined graph distance measure, such as e.g. the shortest path distance or distance measures that take information beyond the graph structure into account. Evaluation of the proposed model on semantic similarity and word sense disambiguation tasks, using various WordNet-based similarity measures, show that our approach yields competitive results, outperforming strong graph embedding baselines. The model is computationally efficient, being orders of magnitude faster than the direct computation of graph-based distances.Comment: Accepted to StarSem 201

    An Ensemble Approach to Question Classification: Integrating Electra Transformer, GloVe, and LSTM

    This paper introduces a novel ensemble approach for question classification using state-of-the-art models -- Electra, GloVe, and LSTM. The proposed model is trained and evaluated on the TREC dataset, a well-established benchmark for question classification tasks. The ensemble model combines the strengths of Electra, a transformer-based model for language understanding, GloVe, a global vectors for word representation, and LSTM, a recurrent neural network variant, providing a robust and efficient solution for question classification. Extensive experiments were carried out to compare the performance of the proposed ensemble approach with other cutting-edge models, such as BERT, RoBERTa, and DistilBERT. Our results demonstrate that the ensemble model outperforms these models across all evaluation metrics, achieving an accuracy of 0.8 on the test set. These findings underscore the effectiveness of the ensemble approach in enhancing the performance of question classification tasks, and invite further exploration of ensemble methods in natural language processing

    Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection is principally a mucosal disease and the gastrointestinal (GI) tract is the major site of HIV replication. Loss of CD4+ T cells and systemic immune hyperactivation are the hallmarks of HIV infection. The end of acute infection is associated with the emergence of specific CD4+ and CD8+ T cell responses and the establishment of a chronic phase of infection. Abnormal levels of immune activation and inflammation persist despite a low steady state level of viremia. Although the causes of persistent immune hyperactivation remain incompletely characterized, physiological alterations of gastrointestinal tract probably play a major role. Failure to restore Th17 cells in gut-associated lymphoid tissues (GALT) might impair the recovery of the gut mucosal barrier.     Experiences of Professionalism Attributes among Undergraduates Nursing Students and Nurses

    Context: Professionalism is an essential ingredient in the nursing profession that when the student nurses learn the knowledge, skills, and attitudes and continue during their practices in the real world. Aim: This research aimed to assess the main attributes of professionalism among undergraduates nursing students and nurses. a descriptive comparative correlational designas well as in Intensive Care Units, Neonatal Intensive Care Units, Cardiac Care Units, and Neurology Intensive Care Units at Tanta University Hospital. Subjects. The sample consisted of (897) nursing students and (149) nurses. The data collection tool was the nursing professionalism attributes questionnaire that was developed by the authors. It contains three dimensions, including; professional identity (12 statements), professional ethics (12 statements), and professional behaviors (16 statements).Results: This study suggested that the undergraduate nursing students perceived the high mean score in all professionalism attributes more than the practicing nurses did.Conclusion: This study concluded that the development of professionalism in nursing is an essential feature of the nursing profession and practice. The nurse students were high in areas of patients' and colleagues’ rights, obeying orders, commitment and collaboration, physical appearance, continuing education, and caring of the patient. While the nurses had very low scores in membership in the nursing association, autonomy, and research areas, this study recommended the encouragement of nurses and students' participation in scientific research activities, including; membership in professional organizations or associations, attending nursing conferences/workshops/symposium as a producer or consumer, and fellowship

    Environmental properties of the southern Gulf of Aqaba, Red Sea, Egypt

    Environmental properties (temperature, dissolved oxygen, nutrients and chlorophyll a) of the epipelagic zone off SharmEl-Sheikh, Red Sea, Egypt were studied seasonally throughout a year from March 1995 to March 1996. Water samples werecollected from five water depths (0, 25, 50, 75 & 100 m). The studied parameters exhibited clear seasonal variability along the water column. The vertical distribution of water temperature showed thermal homogeneity during most seasons, and thermal stratification in summer. Dissolved oxygen attained slightly high concentrations (5.3-7.8 mg l-1) in the whole water column, with slight seasonal variation. The concentrations of nutrients reflected dominant oligotrophic conditions in the epipelagic zone and occasional mesotrophic status at some depths. Phosphate fluctuated between 0-0.7 ΞΌM, ammonium (0-2.27 ΞΌM), nitrite (0-0.72 ΞΌM), nitrate (0-1.49 ΞΌM) and silicate (0-6.48 M). Phytoplankton biomass was generally low in the epipelagic zone throughout the study, whereas chlorophyll a was less than 0.5 ΞΌg l-1, except relatively high concentration (0.7-1.12 ΞΌg l-1) in deep layers in spring.     3D tribo-nanoprinting using triboreactive materials

    Tribology: the science of friction, wear and lubrication has never been associated in a positive way with the ability to manufacture at the nanoscale. Triboreactivity, when the contact between two surfaces promotes a chemical reaction, has been harnessed in this study to create highly tenacious nano-features. The reported 3D tribo-nanoprinting methodology has been demonstrated for organic and inorganic fluids on steel and silicon substrates and is adaptable through the interface tribology. The growth rate, composition and shape of the printed features were all found to be dependent on the nature of the printing liquid and shearing interfaces in addition to the applied temperature and contact force. The reported methodology in this study opens unprecedented future possibilities to utilize the nanoprinted films for the expanding fields of microelectronics, medical devices, flexible electronics and sensor technologies
