Introduction of transition metal cations (Co2+ and Zn2+) into dealuminated NaY zeolite obtained by citric acid treatment

    Get PDF
Aluminum ions were extracted from the framework of the faujasite type zeolite NaY (Si/Al=2.4) by citric acid treatment. Dealuminated CoY and ZnY zeolites of high cobalt and zinc content were prepared by replacing sodium ions with Co2+ and Zn2+ in dealuminated Y zeolites, with increased framework Si/Al ratio. Chemical and XRD analyses of zeolites were performed and the FTIR-ATR spectra were recorded. The results of physicochemical analyses are discussed in terms of unit cell (u.c.) composition

Conducted research was focused on obtaining relevant information about the level of physical activity, physical fitness and quality of life of elderly urban and rural women. A sample of 974 respondents, aged 60 to 80 years, divided into two subgroups, according to the place of residence (622 respondents from urban areas and 352 respondents from rural areas), and in relation to BMI into: women with normal weight (n=298), overweight (n=255), and obese women (n=10). The level of physical activity of women, estimated by international IPAQ questionnaire, which contained four types of physical activity: work-related, transport, housework/ poultry and leisure time. Physical fitness was assessed using the Senior fitness Test- SFT (containing: back scratch, chair sit and reach, 8 foot up and go, 30 seconds stand from chair, arm curl and 2-minute step test). Quality of life was assessed by shorter version of the questionnaire of the World Health Organization- WHOQOL, which contained 26 questions grouped into four domains: physical health, psychological health, social relations and environment. To determine differences between groups, we used a multivariate and univariate analysis of variance (Manova/Anova), a test was performed differences t- test. The impact of physical activity on physical fitness and quality of life was assessed by regression analysis. Based on the set of objects, objectives and tasks of the research concluded that in certain domains of physical activity, physical fitness and quality of life, there are differences between women and urban and rural areas, protects the nutritional level. Also, it was found that physical activity significantly affects the physical fitness and quality of life of elderly women and urban and rural areas. It is necessary to work on raising awareness about the importance of physical activity for the health of women and the importance of a healthy lifestyle, especially practicing regular physical activity in this population group

Investigation of the distribution of acidity in zeolites by temperature-programmed desorption of probe molecules. I. Dealuminated mordenites

    No full text
The acidity of dealuminated hydrogen mordenites (Si/Al = 12-39) is characterized by the temperature-programmed desorption of ammonia or pyridine which is monitored through a mass spectrometer. Four types of sites are indicated by ammonia desorption, viz., weak and strong sites of Bronsted and Lewis type, whereas pyridine desorption reveals only the existence of three types of acidic sites which are tentatively assigned to one sort of Bronsted site and weak and strong Lewis centers. Evaluation of the desorption spectra provides the temperatures of maximum rate of desorption, the population of the respective sites, the desorption rates as a function of the activation energies of desorption, and, finally, probability functions of the activation energies. The results are discussed in terms of coverage, Si/Al ratio, and accessibility

A study of the adsorption thermodynamics of n-hexane on ion-exchanged X zeolites

In this work, the free eneregy changes and entropy changes of adsorption of n-hexane on zeolites of the MxNa87-2xX (M = Co, Ni, Zn, Cd) type were determined using their isosteric sorption heats. It was found that the exchange of Na+ ions in NaX with bivalent cations (Co, Ni, Zn, Cd) significantly alters the adsorption characteristics of NaX zeolite. The free energy changes and entropy changes of n-hexane adsorption were dependent on the surface coverage and on the nature of the charge-balancing cation. The specific influence of the exchanged cations on the free energy changes and entropy changes of sorption of n-hexane originates from the size, location and electronic configuration of the cation

The mechanisms of tris(4-morpholinecarbodithioato-S,S′)cobalt(III) complex formation by solid state reaction from ammine cobalt(III) complexes

In this paper, the solid state reaction, conducted with a mixture of pentaamminechlorocobalt(III) chloride and potassium 4-morpholinecarbodithioate was investigated under isothermal conditions. The reaction proceeds at relatively low temperatures (154-192 °C). The yield of product solid-solid reaction, tris(4-morpholinecarbodithioato-S,S')cobalt(III) complex, does not exceed 65%. The kinetic of the reaction of powdered and pressed samples were investigated. The reaction proceeded according to the diffusional mechanism. Activation energies of 200 kJ/mol and 100 kJ/mol for the powdered and pressed form, respectively, were obtained
