Satellite derived integrated water vapor and rain intensity patterns: Indicators of rapid cyclogenesis

We examine integrated water vapor fields and rain intensity patterns derived from the Scanning Multichannel Microwave Radiometer (SMMR) and Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I) for several rapidly deepening and non-rapidly deepening midlatitude cyclones in the North Atlantic. Our goal is to identify features in the satellite data unique to the rapidly deepening cases, and to explore how these data can potentially be used in the analysis and forecasting of these events

State of the Arts: The Contemporary Arts Ecosystem in the Republic of Ireland

This thesis analyzes the current state of the contemporary arts ecosystem in the Republic of Ireland, with a particular focus on Dublin, the largest city and home to nearly half of the country’s population. This paper provides a separate analysis of each sector of the Irish contemporary arts ecosystem (government; museums, galleries, arts spaces, and international exhibitions; the auction market; commercial galleries; the collector base; and contemporary artists), as well as an analysis of the contemporary arts ecosystem as a functioning whole. This paper includes historical and demographic context specific to Ireland as it assesses the strengths, weaknesses, and challenges which have held the ecosystem back, and those which propel it forward as it, like all ecosystems, continues to evolve and grow

Anomaly and event detection for unsupervised athlete performance data

There are many projects today where data is collected automatically to provide input for various data mining algorithms. A problem with freshly generated datasets is their unsupervised nature, leading to difficulty in fitting predictive algorithms without substantial manual effort. One of the first steps in dataset preparation and mining is anomaly detection, where clear anomalies and outliers as well as events or changes in the pattern of the data are identified as a precursor to subsequent steps in data mining. In the research presented here, we provide a multi-step anomaly detection process which utilises different combinations of algorithms for the most accurate identification of outliers and events

La revolución de 1930 y la figura de Uriburu a través de la revista El Hogar

Los medios de comunicación son una ventana al mundo, un mecanismo de transmisión de culturas políticas, normas y valores que determinan la representación que una sociedad se hace de sí misma, de su pasado, presente y futuro. La prensa de interés femenino es fuente formadora de opinión, a través de la que se eligen, compran, construyen deseos como aspiraciones y sus lectoras vuelcan necesidades, deseos y estrategias interpretativas de la realidad e incorpora visiones de mundo. "El Hogar" fue una revista argentina, fundada por Alberto M. Haynes en 1904, quincenal, literaria, recreativa, de moda y humorística pero que luego apuntó al gusto de la clase media y halagó a la clase alta, que le proporcionó un éxito significativo convirtiéndola en semanal y la de mayor venta. Interesaba a hombres como a mujeres, del interior del país como de Capital donde se editaba y es la primera en tener difusión internacional por ser elaborada por argentinos intelectuales. A partir de 1930 aparecen noticias políticas nacionales e internacionales y artículos dejando su postura apolítica, acompañando acontecimientos europeos y nacionales. Uno es la revolución de 1930 y la atención en la figura de Uriburu. El objetivo es revisar desde 1930 hasta 1932 cuando muere Uriburu para ver cómo aparecen los hechos y su transferencia al mundo privado. La importancia radicaría en la utilización de este órgano de difusión para transmitir ideas políticas, que ejerce un control social al influir sobre el gusto de comportamientos sobre otros, a determinados sectores de la sociedad.Fil: Trujillo, Mariela Susana .
