Measurement of the t(t)over-bar production cross section in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV in dilepton final states containing a tau

    Get PDF
The top quark pair production cross section is measured in dilepton events with one electron or muon, and one hadronically decaying tau lepton from the decay t (t) over bar -> (l nu(l))((sic)(h)nu((sic)))b (b) over bar, (l = e, mu). The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.0 fb(-1) for the electron channel and 2.2 fb(-1) for the muon channel, collected by the CMS detector at the LHC. This is the first measurement of the t (t) over bar cross section explicitly including tau leptons in proton- proton collisions at root s = 7 TeV. The measured value sigma(t (t) over bar) = 143 +/- 14(stat) +/- 22(syst) +/- 3(lumi) pb is consistent with the standard model predictions

A Fast and Accurate Approach for the Segmentation of the Paranasal Sinus

Abstract. Recently, functional endoscopic sinus surgery is the state of the art in the surgical treatment of endonasal pathology. For a more accurate access planning including 3D measures of the cavity, especially in complex cases of tumor diseases, a segmentation of the paranasal sinus is certainly a useful tool. Unfortunately, this structure is quite complicated and difficult to segment. In our contribution, we propose a semi-automatic segmentation pipeline that significantly reduces the total processing time and the required interaction. 1 Introduction and Related Work Minimally-invasive interventions of the paranasal sinus are frequent surgical procedures. While in many cases an extensive pre-operative intervention planning is not really necessary, it becomes desirable in complicated patient cases, and is currently done based on the inspection of the acquired CT data of the paranasa

Segmenting The Mastoid: Allocating Space in The Head for a Hearing Aid Implantation

Abstract. We present a procedure for the segmentation of the mastoid- a sponge-like bone structure behind the middle ear- from CT Images. This segmentation is a first pre-operative step for a robot-supported hearing aid implantation. Up to now, the mastoid is milled out by an ENT surgeon to allocate space for the hearing aid. This tedious milling process of the mastoid is intended to be performed by a robot to reduce the required time and improve the accuracy. 1 Introduction and Related Work Segmentation of 3D medical images plays a vital role in many medical procedures, where it serves in most cases as a preparing step for further preoperative analysis and planning. In our research, we introduced a procedure for segmenting the mastoid. For this purpose, we investigated several segmentation method

Deep submicron III-N HEMTs - technological development and reliability

This paper gives the state-of-the-art (SOA) of the technological development and the reliability status of deepsubmicron Gallium Nitride (GaN) high-electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) with gate lengths of 100 nm or below. Several process technologies are discussed and epitaxial, process options, and reliability are compared. Promising GaN MMIC device results are also provided leading to improved GaN G-band operation at frequencies near 200 GHz
