    A sample from Djebel Ghassoul mines (Eastern Morocco) is studied. According to the X-RD, IR, DTA and chemical analysis results it was characterized as a saponite-like trioctahedral smectite.     Rheological properties of a sample from Djebel Ghassoul mines (Eastern Morocco) is studied. The colloidal properties are superior than those of similar industrial earths such as; low sensivity to coagulation by salts and high dispersing power, which can be enhanced by the addition of small cuantities of other dispersing agents such as Na-hexametaphosphate. It can be advantageously used for the manufacturing of soaps to which it imports a low degree of alcalynity and also of tooth pastes due to its high fluorine contents.Se estudia el comportamiento reológico de un mineral procedente de las minas de Djebel Ghassoul (Marruecos Oriental) encontrando que sus propiedades coloidales son superiores a las otras muestras de interés industrial presentando poco efecto frente a sustancias salinas y sus propiedades dispersantes se acentúan con la adición de pequeñas cantidades de hexametafosfato sódico. El mineral tiene un importante contenido en flúor y se comporta como material adecuado para pasta dentrífica así como para la fabricación de jabones a los que proporciona una baja alcalinidad

    Pour mettre en évidence les pores de rayon inférieur à 17 Å (micropores), on a tiré ici parti de la chaleur d’adsorption élevée d’un gaz dans des pores de dimensions moléculaires.Dans ce but, l’adsorption de benzène sur un gel de silice microporeux a été suivie à la fois par la mesure de la chaleur différentielle d’adsorption en fonction du taux de recouvrement et par la mesure de l’aire encore accessible à l’azote à chaque étape du recouvrement par le benzène. Les résultats obtenus conduisent à distinguer trois modes de remplissage de ces micropores par le benzène

    Tannins extraction from Pinus pinaster and Acacia dealbata bark with applications in the industry

    The use of wood waste is considered a valuable resource and a market opportunity for new products that society and industry can employ. In this context, it seems important to consider the use of the bark of two species that are found in large quantities within the extensive forest area of Galicia (north-western Spain). These species are widely used in industrial processes in which a large amount of waste is generated, mainly bark. In this work, we extracted the tannins from the bark of Pinus pinaster and Acacia dealbata, and we studied the yields obtained according to three variables: the extraction method applied, soxhlet and in natural conditions with temperature and agitation; the particle size of the samples; and the two solvents used, ethanol and distilled water. The chemical properties of the extracts were also analysed. The yields obtained ranged from 3.6 to 25.8 wt% for P. pinaster, and from 5.2 to 29.5 wt% for A. dealbata. Phenol and anthocyanin content ranged from 217.8 to 873. 2 mg/g extract for P. pinaster, and from 77.3 to 820 mg/g extract for A. dealbata. Our results demonstrate that the differences in the extracts content depending on the method and particle size show different features of the antioxidant capacity.Financiado para publicación en acceso aberto: Universidade de Vigo/CISUGXunta de Galicia | Ref.
