We present a two-dimensional mapping of stellar population age components, emission-line fluxes, gas excitation and kinematics within the inner ∌200\sim200 pc of the Seyfert 2 galaxy NGC 2110. We used the Gemini North Integral Field Spectrograph (NIFS) in the J and K bands at a spatial resolution of ∌22\sim22 pc. The unresolved nuclear continuum is originated in combined contributions of young stellar population (SP; age≀100\leq100 Myr), a featureless AGN continuum and hot dust emission. The young-intermediate SP (100<100<age≀700\leq700 Myr) is distributed in a ring-shaped structure at ≈140\approx140 pc from the nucleus, which is roughly coincident with the lowest values of the stellar velocity dispersion. In the inner ≈115\approx115 pc the old SP (age>2>2 Gyr) is dominant. The [FeII]1.25ÎŒ\mum emission-line flux distribution is correlated with the radio emission and its kinematics comprise two components, one from gas rotating in the galaxy plane and another from gas in outflow within a bicone oriented along north-south. These outflows seem to originate in the interaction of the radio jet with the ambient gas producing shocks that are the main excitation mechanism of the [FeII] emission. We estimate: (1) an ionized gas mass outflow rate of ∌0.5\sim0.5 M⊙_\odot/yr at ∌\sim70 pc from the nucleus; and (2) a kinetic power for the outflow of only 0.05% of the AGN bolometric luminosity implying weak feedback effect on the galaxy.Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRA

Induced mass in N=2 super Yang-Mills theories

The masses of the matter fields of N=2 Super-Yang-Mills theories can be defined as parameters of deformed supersymmetry transformations. The formulation used involves central charges for the matter fields. The explicit form of the deformed supersymmetry transformations and of the invariant Lagrangian in presence of the gauge supermultiplet are constructed. This works generalizes a former one, due to the same authors, which presented the free matter case.Comment: 15 pages, Late

Disentangling the near infrared continuum spectral components of the inner 500 pc of Mrk 573: two-dimensional maps

We present a near infrared study of the spectral components of the continuum in the inner 500×\times500 pc2^2 of the nearby Seyfert galaxy Mrk573 using adaptive optics near-infrared integral field spectroscopy with the instrument NIFS of the Gemini North Telescope at a spatial resolution of ∌\sim50 pc. We performed spectral synthesis using the {\sc starlight} code and constructed maps for the contributions of different age components of the stellar population: young (age≀100age\leq100 Myr), young-intermediate (100<age≀700100<age\leq700 Myr), intermediate-old (700700 Myr 22 Gyr) to the near-IR K-band continuum, as well as their contribution to the total stellar mass. We found that the old stellar population is dominant within the inner 250 pc, while the intermediate age components dominate the continuum at larger distances. A young stellar component contributes up to ∌\sim20% within the inner ∌\sim70 pc, while hot dust emission and featureless continuum components are also necessary to fit the nuclear spectrum, contributing up to 20% of the K-band flux there. The radial distribution of the different age components in the inner kiloparsec of Mrk573 is similar to those obtained by our group for the Seyfert galaxies Mrk1066, Mrk1157 and NGC1068 in previous works using a similar methodology. Young stellar populations (≀\leq100 Myr) are seen in the inner 200-300 pc for all galaxies contributing with ≄\ge20% of the K-band flux, while the near-IR continuum is dominated by the contribution of intermediate-age stars (t=t=100 Myr-2 Gyr) at larger distances. Older stellar populations dominate in the inner 250 pc

Specifying Adaptations through a DSL with an Application to Mobile Robot Navigation

Developing applications for resource-constrained embedded systems is a challenging task specially when applications must adapt to changes in their operating conditions or environment. To ensure an appropriate response at all times, it is highly desirable to develop applications that can dynamically adapt their behavior at run-time. In this paper we introduce an architecture that allows the specification of adaptable behavior through an external, high-level and platform-independent domain-specific language (DSL). The DSL is used here to define adaptation rules that change the run-time behavior of the application depending on various operational factors, such as time constraints. We illustrate the use of the DSL in an application to mobile robot navigation using smartphones, where experimental results highlight the benefits of specifying the adaptable behavior in a flexible and external way to the main application logic

Depicting #fatherhood involvement on Instagram: Caregiving, affection, and stimulation

This article aims to analyze how fatherhood is performed on Instagram by examining the domains of involvement. Parental roles and behaviors have changed in the last years and are currently a relevant social and scientific topic. The way that fatherhood is performed is also a frequent subject on social media, spreading the ideal of a new fatherhood and portraying the father as committed to childcare duties. The hashtag “fatherhood” was used to identify posts on Instagram representing father involvement. A final sample of 121 posts was identified. Results depicted three main domains in fatherhood’s online representations of involvement: (1) child caregiving; (2) fathers as a source of the child’s affection; and (3) fathers involved in play, committed to the child’s interests and offering new opportunities of stimulation. The display of fatherhood as a role requiring dedication and effort also emerged, but to a lesser extent. Nevertheless, only positive emotions were shared, depicting pleasure in the performed role, and communicating an ideal and self-enhancing profile. Moreover, posts seemed to disseminate an ideal of fatherhood rather than raise questions or discuss the challenges related to it. Findings uncover how media social representations of fatherhood are still an unfinished process, failing to capture diversity and challenges in contemporary families
