The practice and discussion of ethical behavior in business has been going on since the colonial times. There has been much research over whether or not socially responsible behavior is counterproductive to an organization’s goal of increasing profits. Many studies showed that corporate social responsibility and ethical behavior can also provide competitive advantage and growth in market share. This paper will examine the development of social responsibility and business ethics beginning from the colonial times to shed light to corporate social responsibility and ethics of business today. The literature review has also taken into account the influence of an ethics training program on employees conduct.İş dünyasında etik konusunda uygulama ve tartışmalar sömürgecilik dönemlerinden beri süregelmektedir.

    Electroweak Effects in the Double Dalitz Decay Bsl+ll+lB_s \to l^+ l^- l'^+ l'^-

We investigate the double Dalitz decays Bsl+ll+lB_s \to l^+ l^- l'^+ l'^- on the basis of the effective Hamiltonian for the transition bsˉl+lb \bar{s} \to l^+ l^-, and universal form factors suggested by QCD. The correlated mass spectrum of the two lepton pairs in the decay Bse+eμ+μB_s \to e^+ e^- \mu^+ \mu^- is derived in an efficient way, using a QED result for meson decays mediated by two virtual photons: Bsγγe+eμ+μB_s \to \gamma^* \gamma^* \to e^+ e^- \mu^+ \mu^-. A comment is made on the correlation between the planes of the two lepton pairs. The conversion ratios ρllll=Γ(Bsl+ll+l)Γ(Bsγγ)\rho_{lll'l'}= \frac{\Gamma(B_s \to l^+ l^- l'^+ l'^-)}{\Gamma(B_s \to \gamma \gamma)} are estimated to be ρeeee=3×104,ρeeμμ=9×105andρμμμμ=3×105\rho_{eeee}=3 \times 10^{-4}, \rho_{ee\mu\mu}=9 \times 10^{-5} \text{and} \rho_{\mu\mu\mu\mu}=3 \times 10^{-5}, and are enhanced relative to pure QED by 103010-30 %.Comment: Two typos corrected: (i) factor 1/Γγγ1/\Gamma_{\gamma\gamma} inserted in Eq. (14), (ii) co-ordinate labels x12,x34x_{12},x_{34} inserted in Figs. 1-3. To appear in Physics Letters

The Impacts of Industrial Decentralization in Metropolises

The development of metropolises in many newly industrializing countries follow the new patterns created first by migration, and then, globalization. The dynamic transformation in developmental processes result in industrial decentralization and qualitative change in labor. This paper focuses on the new structures that emerged through this process in Istanbul metropolitan area

Host Perceptions of Tourism Development: The Case of Petra

    Get PDF
The nature of tourism sector requires “consumer” to move to where the service is provided. Consumer’s movement to a different place leads to a direct encounter not only with service providers but also with those who live where the service is provided. This encounter results in a set of changes in the host community’s life. By using a self-completion questionnaire, this paper examined the residents’ perceptions of tourism development in Jordan’s main tourist destination, Petra. The findings suggested that the host community in Petra had positive attitudes toward tourism development in their city. The results showed that social and cultural impacts of tourism were most favored by surveyed sample. Host community is also assumed to favor tourism development for its role in bringing about better local services. The results are discussed thoroughly and directions for future research are suggested

Sustainable Environmental Awareness in the Making of Steinway & Sons Pianos and Opinions of Lecturers on Sustainable Environmental Literacy in Piano Making

    Get PDF
The majority of the pieces that make up the structures of the piano are wooden products. Large piano brands provide resources for the materials. They use various forest products or they create their own forests. Respecting life, biodiversity together with protecting nature and our world are important elements for sustainable environmental awareness. The sustainable environmental awareness is developing by ensuring that current needs are met and transferred to future generations with controlled consumption without destroying natural resources. In this study, it was aimed to examine the knowledge levels of the piano educators regarding the sustainable environmental studies of the piano producer Steinway Sons brand, and also the production of the Steinway Sons brand with sustainable environmental awareness. The research is limited to the Steinway Sons brand. The lecturers in Turkey constitute the scope of the study and the ones who are conveniently reached make up the participants of the study. Qualitative research methods are used in the study. The data are obtained by document review method, content analysis and questionnaire. The results showed that; majority of the lecturers do not have any knowledge about the dimensions of sustainability in piano production, such as energy use, material use, recycling and responsible forestry
