    Data mining: a tool for detecting cyclical disturbances in supply networks.

    Disturbances in supply chains may be either exogenous or endogenous. The ability automatically to detect, diagnose, and distinguish between the causes of disturbances is of prime importance to decision makers in order to avoid uncertainty. The spectral principal component analysis (SPCA) technique has been utilized to distinguish between real and rogue disturbances in a steel supply network. The data set used was collected from four different business units in the network and consists of 43 variables; each is described by 72 data points. The present paper will utilize the same data set to test an alternative approach to SPCA in detecting the disturbances. The new approach employs statistical data pre-processing, clustering, and classification learning techniques to analyse the supply network data. In particular, the incremental k-means clustering and the RULES-6 classification rule-learning algorithms, developed by the present authors’ team, have been applied to identify important patterns in the data set. Results show that the proposed approach has the capability automatically to detect and characterize network-wide cyclical disturbances and generate hypotheses about their root cause

    BASICS OF THEORETICAL APPROACHES OF TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESSES WITH REGULAR TOSSING OF THE GRANULAR MEDIUM

    Vibration interaction is used for development of modern technological processes in which required quality of product is provided due to interaction of the granular medium with the vibrating surface. The paper is devoted to development of mathematical models and estimation criteria form of movement, taking into account the effect of unilateral constraints, in dynamic interactions of elements of vibration technological processes as applied to increase the reliability and quality of vibrational machines. The study is focused on the formation of theoretical ideas about the dynamic interactions of a solid body with the vibrating surface based on the development of mathematical models by introducing of additional external forces and elastic ties with unilateral contact, including mathematical models of gapless movement of the compounded solids. In terms of practical applications the task is to develop and to approve experimentally the opportunities of the measuring devices fixing the modes of continuous tossing. According to the research the generalized approach to problems of dynamic synthesis of vibration technology implemented in continuous tossing the introduction of additional forces is developed. The basis of the approach is the introduction of the concept of the function of the gap, allowing to justify the construction of forms of motion of material particles in accordance with certain criteria, reflecting the properties of the trajectories of motion of material particles in the interaction with the vibrating surface. The mathematical models to determine the conditions for the formation of dynamic reactions in the vibrational structure consisting of several interconnected elements, including the possibilities of their pre-pressing by elastic ties and power factors is offered.     Orbital Complications of Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery

    Objective: Functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) is an operating procedure for surgical treatment of diseases of the paranasal sinuses. There are precised indications for this surgical intervention. Like any invasive intervention there is a risk of occurrence of complications. Some of the most common are the orbital complications.Methods: By analyzing the available literature, the authors compare and summarize the results of various studies on this subject.Results: Orbital complications are rare but can be with severe consequences, including the complete loss of vision, and even death. Most of them after adequate treatment have not substantial implications but the underestimation can have serious consequences.Conclusion: The first step to avoid complications is prevention. If we have doubts of complications they must be precised instantly and act responsibly towards them. In the presence of this complication, one should be immediately consulted with an ophthalmologist and periodic assessment of IOP and visual acuity

    Effect of grape pomace powder addition on chemical, nutritional and technological properties of cakes

    Aim of the research was to study the influence of grape (Vitis vinifera) pomace powder, a by-product of wine manufacturing, on chemical composition, nutritional properties and physical characteristics of cakes prepared replacing bread wheat flour with 4%, 6%, 8% and 10% grape pomace powder. The addition of growing quantities of grape pomace powder gradually increased ash, lipid, proteins, fibres, free phenolics, anthocyanins and total polyphenol content as well as antioxidant capacity (DPPH, FRAP), while decreased moisture and \u440\u41d. The main phenolics provided by grape pomace were catechin, gallic acid, quercitin, protocatechuic acid, kaempferol and apigenin. The phenolic acids and flavonoids content increased from 4.1\u202fmg/kg DM (control) to 26.4\u201360.9\u202fmg/kg DM (cake with 4%\u201310% grape pomace powder). The colour coordinates L* and a* diminished, while b* augmented. The cake containing 4% grape pomace powder showed the best sensory quality. The addition of grape pomace powder significantly improved the content in free phenolics, highly bioavailable, that are scarce in bread wheat, and thus the nutritional value of cakes without penalising their technological and sensorial attributes. Therefore, grape pomace powder utilisation will give foods with nutritionally enhanced properties; additionally, its utilisation will alleviate the ecological problems connected to its disposal

    Circular strings in Kerr-AdS5AdS_5 black holes

    The quest for extension of holographic correspondence to the case of finite temperature naturally includes Kerr-AdS black holes and their field theory duals. We probe the five-dimensional Kerr-AdS space time by pulsating strings. First we find particular pulsating string solutions and then semi-classically quantize the theory. For the string with large values of energy, we use the Bohr-Sommerfeld analysis to find the energy of the string as a function of a large quantum number. We obtain the wave function of the problem and thoroughly study the corrections to the energy, which according to the holographic dictionary are related to anomalous dimensions of certain operators in the dual gauge theory. The interpretation of results from holographic point of view is not straightforward since the dual theory is at finite temperature.     Совершенствование турбогенераторов, как техническая база обеспечения энергетической независимости Украины

    The paper defines the directions of improving turbogenerators as the basis for ensuring the energy independence of Ukraine. The analysis of the state, problems and prospects for the development of modern electric power industry. Goal of the work is to identify promising directions for sustainable development of the national electric power industry in order to ensure energy security of Ukraine, to conduct a comparative analysis of electricity sources, to confirm the need to improve the main sources – turbogenerators. Methodology. During the research, an analytical analysis of the electricity sources, which are installed at power plants in Ukraine and the world, was carried out, taking into account the growth of the planet's population and its energy activity. Cyclic theory was chosen as the theoretical basis for forecasting. On the basis of this theory, global development trends, advantages and disadvantages of currently used sources of electricity - thermal (including nuclear) power plants and stations that operate from renewable energy sources - have been established. A review of literary sources on the methods of the energy sector forecasting the development, including the development of the energy sector in Ukraine, has been carried out. Originality. It has been established that due to the active growth of the planet's population, with the increase in its energy activity, obtaining electricity from renewable energy sources is not enough, that for the next 20-30 years nuclear power plants will be the main sources of electricity. The internal and external threats to the energy security of Ukraine, directions of development of turbogenerator construction, ways to improve turbogenerators, to increase their energy efficiency, power per unit of performance, to increase the readiness and maneuverability factors, and overload capacity have been identified. Practical significance. The need to continue the modernization and improvement of the turbogenerators of nuclear power plant units, as the main sources of electricity, has been proved. The directions of their improvement are established: increasing the power in the established sizes, making changes to the design of the turbogenerators inactive elements, replacing the cooling agent to keep Ukrainian turbogenerators at the world level, improving auxiliary systems, improving and increasing the reliability of the excitation system, introduction of automatic systems for monitoring the state turbogenerators. Possible limits of use, advantages, disadvantages and problems of using renewable energy sources for Ukraine have been established.У статті проведено аналіз стану, проблем та перспектив розвитку сучасної електроенергетики. Визначено напрямки її розвитку з урахуванням вибору техніко-економічного сценарію розвитку, супутніх факторів і їх взаємного впливу. Метою роботи було визначення перспективних напрямків сталого розвитку національної електроенергетики щодо забезпечення енергетичної безпеки України, проведення порівняльного аналізу джерел електроенергії, підтвердження необхідності вдосконалення основних джерел – турбогенераторів. Визначено внутрішні та зовнішні загрози енергетичній безпеці України. Встановлено переваги і недоліки, світові тенденції подальшого використання сучасних джерел електроенергії - теплових (включаючи атомні) електростанцій і станцій від поновлюваних джерел енергії. Встановлено, що в зв'язку з активним ростом населення планети і зі збільшенням його енергетичної активності електроенергії від поновлюваних джерел енергії буде недостатньо, що найближчі 20-30 років основними джерелами електроенергії будуть атомні електростанції і це підтверджує необхідність проведення робіт по вдосконаленню турбогенераторів. Встановлені напрями вдосконалення конструкцій турбогенераторів і систем охолодження. Зазначено, що вдосконалення турбогенераторів вимагає одночасного підвищення ефективності і систем, що забезпечують їх роботу: систем постачання газом, водою і маслом, системи збудження. Показана необхідність повного впровадження автоматичного контролю стану турбогенераторів, використання прийомів сучасної технічної діагностики найбільш напружених вузлів і елементів як в режимі online, так і при проведенні планових і аварійних ремонтів. Підтвердження необхідності проведення робіт по вдосконаленню вітчизняних турбогенераторів викликано появою в загальній енергосистемі України нових типів електроенергетичних джерел, які користуються активною державною підтримкою. Відзначена перспективність використання поновлюваних джерел енергії з точки зору зниження екологічних проблем, але лише для індивідуальних споживачів.     On the pulsating strings in AdS_5 x T^{1,1}

    We study the class of pulsating strings in AdS_5 x T^{1,1}. Using a generalized ansatz for pulsating string configurations we find new solutions of this class. Further we semiclassically quantize the theory and obtain the first correction to the energy.
