    Variations of Infinite Derivative Modified Gravity

    We consider nonlocal modified Einstein gravity without matter, where nonlocal term has the form P(R)F()Q(R)P(R) F(\Box) Q(R). For this model, in this paper we give the derivation of the equations of motion in detail. This is not an easy task and presented derivation should be useful to a researcher who wants to investigate nonlocal gravity.     Clinical-parasitological screening for respiratory capillariosis in cats in urban environments

    Respiratory capillariosis is a widely distributed zoonotic parasitic disease caused by the nematode Capillaria aerophila (Trichocephalida, Trichuridae) that commonly infects wild carnivores butalso cats and dogs. This retrospective study aims to describe cases of respiratory capillariosis incats from the city of Belgrade, Serbia. Between 2015 and 2019, a total of 155 pet cats with or without respiratory symptoms were submitted to physical examination and parasitological examination of the feces. All cats lived indoor but had free access to outdoor. In suburban settlements, wild carnivores commonly share their living environments with owned cats and dogs. It can be assumed that more intense urbanization spreading into the natural habitats of will carnivores creates the opportunity for closer and more frequent contacts between the population of cats and feral carnivores whichmight increase the risk of feline contamination. The findings confirm the existence of capillaries in cats in urban areas of the city of Belgrade, contribute to a better understanding of the epidemiology of this nematode and warn that, because of close contacts between cats of pets and humans, capillaries can cause human infection

    High-resolution FUSE and HST ultraviolet spectroscopy of the white dwarf central star of Sh 2-216

    LS V +4621 is the DAO-type central star of the planetary nebula Sh 2-216. We perform a comprehensive spectral analysis of high-resolution, high-S/N ultraviolet observations obtained with FUSE and STIS aboard the HST as well as the optical spectrum of LS V +4621 by means of state-of-the-art NLTE model-atmosphere techniques in order to compare its photospheric properties to theoretical predictions from stellar evolution theory as well as from diffusion calculations. From the N IV - NV, O IV - O VI, Si IV - Si V, and Fe V - Fe VII ionization equilibria, we determined an effective temperature of 95 +/- 2 kK with high precision. The surface gravity is log g = 6.9 +/- 0.2. An unexplained discrepancy appears between the spectroscopic distance d = 224 +46/-58 pc and the parallax distance d = 129 +6/-5 pc of LS V +4621. For the first time, we have identified Mg IV and Ar VI absorption lines in the spectrum of a hydrogen-rich central star and determined the Mg and Ar abundances as well as the individual abundances of iron-group elements (Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, and Ni). With the realistic treatment of metal opacities up to the iron group in the model-atmosphere calculations, the so-called Balmer-line problem (found in models that neglect metal-line blanketing) vanishes. Spectral analysis by means of NLTE model atmospheres has presently arrived at a high level of sophistication, which is now hampered largely by the lack of reliable atomic data and accurate line-broadening tables.     Noncommutative AdS3AdS^3 with Quantized Cosmological Constant

    We examine a recent deformation of three-dimensional anti-deSitter gravity based on noncommutative Chern-Simons theory with gauge group U(1,1)×U(1,1)U(1,1)\times U(1,1). In addition to a noncommutative analogue of 3D gravity, the theory contains two addition gauge fields which decouple in the commutative limit. It is well known that the level is quantized in noncommutative Chern-Simons theory. Here it implies that the cosmological constant goes like minus one over an integer-squared. We construct the noncommutative AdS3AdS^3 vacuum by applying a Seiberg-Witten map from the commutative case. The procedure is repeated for the case of a conical space resulting from a massive spinning particle.Comment: 16 p

    Quantum Fields on the Groenewold-Moyal Plane: C, P, T and CPT

    We show that despite the inherent non-locality of quantum field theories on the Groenewold-Moyal (GM) plane, one can find a class of C{\bf C}, P{\bf P}, T{\bf T} and CPT{\bf CPT} invariant theories. In particular, these are theories without gauge fields or with just gauge fields and no matter fields. We also show that in the presence of gauge fields, one can have a field theory where the Hamiltonian is C{\bf C} and T{\bf T} invariant while the SS-matrix violates P{\bf P} and CPT{\bf CPT}. In non-abelian gauge theories with matter fields such as the electro-weak and QCDQCD sectors of the standard model of particle physics, C{\bf C}, P{\bf P}, T{\bf T} and the product of any pair of them are broken while CPT{\bf CPT} remains intact for the case θ0i=0\theta^{0i} =0. (Here xμxνxνxμ=iθμνx^{\mu} \star x^{\nu} - x^{\nu} \star x^{\mu} = i \theta^{\mu \nu}, xμx^{\mu}: coordinate functions, θμν=θνμ=\theta^{\mu \nu} = -\theta^{\nu \mu}= constant.) When θ0i0\theta^{0i} \neq 0, it contributes to breaking also P{\bf P} and CPT{\bf CPT}. It is known that the SS-matrix in a non-abelian theory depends on θμν\theta^{\mu \nu} only through θ0i\theta^{0i}. The SS-matrix is frame dependent. It breaks (the identity component of the) Lorentz group. All the noncommutative effects vanish if the scattering takes place in the center-of-mass frame, or any frame where θ0iPiin=0\theta^{0i}P^{\textrm{in}}_{i} = 0, but not otherwise. P{\bf P} and CPT{\bf CPT} are good symmetries of the theory in this special case.Comment: 18 pages, 1 figure, revised, 2 references adde

    Gauge theory on kappa-Minkowski revisited: the twist approach

    Kappa-Minkowski space-time is an example of noncommutative space-time with potentially interesting phenomenology. However, the construction of field theories on this space is plagued with ambiguities. We propose to resolve certain ambiguities by clarifying the geometrical picture of gauge transformations on the kappa-Minkowski space-time in the twist approach. We construct the action for the noncommutative U(1) gauge fields in a geometric way, as an integral of a maximal form.     Planning the rural environment is one of the most intriguing examples of technical challenge where a multi-disciplinary approach plays a crucial role. The agricultural production, both food and non-food, the social role of rural settlements, the state and diffusion of the infrastructural networks, the rural architectonic heritage that in many countries constitutes a major positive value, should be appropriately considered and sinergically interlaced for a sound planning of agricultural biosystems. Human activities impose a transformation of the extra-urban land that may lead to the modification of the frail equilibrium of whole ecosystems. Sound planning strategies should be therefore pursued, employing a multidisciplinary approach that should take into account geographical, environmental and landscape factors as variables interacting among themselves and with the social and economic aspects.
