Study of The Aspects Used By Commercial Airlines In Facilitating Domestic Tourism In Kenya

    Get PDF
This study sought to find out how commercial airlines are facilitating domestic tourism in Kenya. Domestic tourism involves locals visiting fun places, holiday destinations and entertaining centers for their own relaxation or fun activities within the national boundaries. The locals may decide to visit such places to get away from the usual pressure associated with work, monotony of daily living and time to bond with the family. Domestic tourism has seen a significant increase that has been caused by several external influences that have impacted on the consumers. Several organizations, both public and private sectors have encouraged domestic tourism by giving incentives to persons interested. In this paper data was collected from the print media. The aim of the study is to identify the means, in which commercial airlines use to reach the domestic tourist as well as ways that commercial airlines use to promote domestic tourism in Kenya. The study concluded that commercial airlines have largely employed print media to communicate to the consumers the following; reduction of fares, increased frequency of specific routes, and introduction of new routes. The advertisements are especially heavy during the period following long holidays, which shows that the airlines are appealing to the consumers who are working to take advantage of the period and travel to a different destination to unwind and also spend time with the family. Commercial airlines have greatly encouraged domestic tourism by offering reduced fares to popular destinations, and tour operators not wanting to be left behind offer discounted packages on air fare and accommodation during this season. Key words: Airlines, domestic tourism, print medi

Employee Age as a Moderator of the Relationship Between Ambition and Work Role Affect

    Get PDF
Past research has demonstrated a negative relationship between ambition, or the desire to get ahead, and job satisfaction. In the present paper, age was hypothesized to moderate the relationship between ambition and job satisfaction such that the relationship between ambition and satisfaction is more negative for older employees than for younger employees. Three studies, with three criterion variables (promotion satisfaction, extrinsic job satisfaction, overall job satisfaction), were used to test the hypothesis. Results indicated support for the hypothesized interaction. The discussion focuses on the implications of the results for organizational and individual career management strategies

System and Method for RFID-Enabled Information Collection

    Get PDF
Methods, apparatuses and systems for radio frequency identification (RFID)-enabled information collection are disclosed, including an enclosure, a collector coupled to the enclosure, an interrogator, a processor, and one or more RFID field sensors, each having an individual identification, disposed within the enclosure. In operation, the interrogator transmits an incident signal to the collector, causing the collector to generate an electromagnetic field within the enclosure. The electromagnetic field is affected by one or more influences. RFID sensors respond to the electromagnetic field by transmitting reflected signals containing the individual identifications of the responding RFID sensors to the interrogator. The interrogator receives the reflected signals, measures one or more returned signal strength indications ("RSSI") of the reflected signals and sends the RSSI measurements and identification of the responding RFID sensors to the processor to determine one or more facts about the influences. Other embodiments are also described

NASA Technology Area 07: Human Exploration Destination Systems Roadmap

    Get PDF
This paper gives an overview of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Office of Chief Technologist (OCT) led Space Technology Roadmap definition efforts. This paper will given an executive summary of the technology area 07 (TA07) Human Exploration Destination Systems (HEDS). These are draft roadmaps being reviewed and updated by the National Research Council. Deep-space human exploration missions will require many game changing technologies to enable safe missions, become more independent, and enable intelligent autonomous operations and take advantage of the local resources to become self-sufficient thereby meeting the goal of sustained human presence in space. Taking advantage of in-situ resources enhances and enables revolutionary robotic and human missions beyond the traditional mission architectures and launch vehicle capabilities. Mobility systems will include in-space flying, surface roving, and Extra-vehicular Activity/Extravehicular Robotics (EVA/EVR) mobility. These push missions will take advantage of sustainability and supportability technologies that will allow mission independence to conduct human mission operations either on or near the Earth, in deep space, in the vicinity of Mars, or on the Martian surface while opening up commercialization opportunities in low Earth orbit (LEO) for research, industrial development, academia, and entertainment space industries. The Human Exploration Destination Systems (HEDS) Technology Area (TA) 7 Team has been chartered by the Office of the Chief Technologist (OCT) to strategically roadmap technology investments that will enable sustained human exploration and support NASA s missions and goals for at least the next 25 years. HEDS technologies will enable a sustained human presence for exploring destinations such as remote sites on Earth and beyond including, but not limited to, LaGrange points, low Earth orbit (LEO), high Earth orbit (HEO), geosynchronous orbit (GEO), the Moon, near-Earth objects (NEOs), which > 95% are asteroidal bodies, Phobos, Deimos, Mars, and beyond. The HEDS technology roadmap will strategically guide NASA and other U.S. Government agency technology investments that will result in capabilities enabling human exploration missions to diverse destinations generating high returns on investments

Lived experience of long COVID in health workers in Scotland (LoCH study).

This is the final project report for project COV/LTE/20/32 ("Lived Experience of Long-Term COVID-19 on NHS Workers in Health Care Settings in Scotland: a Longitudinal Mixed Methods Study"). The Long COVID in health workers (LoCH) study investigated the lived experience of the longer term effects of COVID-19 (long COVID) on professional and ancillary staff employed in the NHS across Scotland. These staff were asked about: their symptoms of long COVID; health and wellbeing; use of healthcare and self management strategies; working in the NHS; and personal and household finances. The report outlines the methodology and results of the study, and identifies key findings and potential impacts
