A field experiment was conducted at All India Coordinated Research Project on Vegetable Crops, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar, during kharif 2021.Foliar spray of PGRs at various concentrations were given to okra crop cv. Utkal Gourav. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with three replications and eleven treatments viz., GA3 (100 ppm) (T1), GA3 (150 ppm) (T2), NAA (150ppm) (T3), NAA (200 ppm) (T4), Thiourea (250 ppm) (T5), Thiourea (500 ppm) (T6), Cycocel (200 ppm) (T7), Cycocel (250 ppm) (T8), Paclobutrazol (100 ppm) (T9), Paclobutrazol (200 ppm) (T10) and Control (T11). The foliar sprays of growth regulators were done at 15 & 30 days after sowing. All growth regulators significantly performed better as compared to control. The results revealed that NAA performed better with respect to plant height (148.66cm), internodal length (8.66 cm) and leaf area (237.60 Cm2) compared to control with 112.83 cm,5.45 cm & 174.69 Cm2 respectively. Cycocel 250 ppm recorded significantly better with respect to number of nodes per plant (21.53), number of branches per plant (3.47), number of leaves (32.74), leaf chlorophyll content (1.390 mg/100 g) and days to 50 % flowering (36.50). However the untreated control plot recorded number of nodes per plant (15.08), number of branches per plant (1.66), number of leaves (21.88), leaf chlorophyll content (1.071 mg/100 g) and days to 50 % flowering (42.10)

Seasonal dynamics of phytoplanktons along with various physicochemical parameters were recorded in the hot spring of Atri, Odisha during the year 2010-2011. The study was carried out to ascertain the phytoplanktons diversity in relation to the changing physico-chemical parameters in an extreme condition of the hot spring on seasonal basis. Total twenty eight genera having forty two species of phytoplanktons were recorded under the following classes, viz. Chlorophyceae, Cyanophyceae Bacillariophyceae and Euglenophyceae. Chlorophyceae was found to be dominating class contributing 40% of the total. The highest numbers of phytoplankton species were recorded during summer season with an average of 11, 3,000 cells/liter. Dominant species identified were Anabaena aequalis, Closterium ehrenbergii Meneghini ex Ralfs, Eudorina sp., Merismopedia punctata Meyen, Microcystis aeruginosa (Kützing) Kützing,  Navicula membranacea Cleve, Oscillatoria sp., Pediastrum simplex Meyen, Scenedesmus quadricauda Chodat. Correlation studies of phytoplankton with physicochemical variables indicate a significant positive correlation with chlorophyll-a, alkalinity and nitrate concentration at p≤0.01 and p≤0.05

Effect of neutron alignments on the structure of Tl 197

The excited states of 197Tl have been studied via 19 Au(4He, 4n)197 Tl reaction at a beam energy of 50 MeV from the K-130 cyclotron at the Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC). The Îł rays were detected using the VECC array for Nuclear Spectroscopy (VENUS) with six Compton-suppressed clover HPGe detectors. An improved level scheme of 197 Tl has been proposed from this work, which has been extended to 5.1 MeV of excitation energy and 39/2 ℏ of spin from the placement of 28 new Îł-ray transitions. Band crossings in the known one- and three-quasiparticle (qp) bands have been identified for the first time in this work. Two new bands, based on 3-qp and 5-qp configurations, have been observed for the first time in this nucleus; both of which are identified as the magnetic rotational (MR) in nature. The excitation energies of these bands are similar to that of the doubly degenerate bands observed for the similar 3-qp and 5-qp configurations in 195 Tl. These indicate a transition from an aplanar geometry of the neutron, proton, and the core angular momentum vectors to a planar one for neutron number N≄116 in Tl isotopes. The total Routhian surface calculations suggest a change in shape from oblate for the 1-qp configuration to a near-spherical one for the 3- and 5-qp configurations. This is consistent with the observed MR nature of the bands with multi-qp configuration. The MR bands are well reproduced by a model calculations in the frame work of the shears mechanism with the principal axis cranking. One of the authors (H.P.) is grateful for the support from the Ramanujan Fellowship Research Grant under SERB-DST Grant No. SB/S2/RJN-031/2016

Self-assembled hyaluronan nanocapsules for the intracellular delivery of anticancer drugs

Preparation of sophisticated delivery systems for nanomedicine applications generally involve multi-step procedures using organic solvents. In this study, we have developed a simple self-assembling process to prepare docetaxel-loaded hyaluronic acid (HA) nanocapsules by using a self-emulsification process without the need of organic solvents, heat or high shear forces. These nanocapsules, which comprise an oily core and a shell consisting of an assembly of surfactants and hydrophobically modified HA, have a mean size of 130 nm, a zeta potential of −20 mV, and exhibit high docetaxel encapsulation efficiency. The nanocapsules exhibited an adequate stability in plasma. Furthermore, in vitro studies performed using A549 lung cancer cells, showed effective intracellular delivery of docetaxel. On the other hand, blank nanocapsules showed very low cytotoxicity. Overall, these results highlight the potential of self-emulsifying HA nanocapsules for intracellular drug delivery

New high precision study on the decay width of the Hoyle state in C-12

Precise estimation of the rare direct 3α decay of the Hoyle state of 12C has been made to unveil its unusual α-cluster configurations ranging from linear 3α chain structure to diffuse Bose gas as well as Bose Einstein condensate. The present new high precision, nearly zero background experimental study with Hoyle events has converged on the upper limit for direct decay at ∌0.019% with 95% confidence limit, which is more than a factor of 2 lower than the limit obtained in the previous studies. Two of the authors (S.B. and A.R.) acknowledge the financial support received as Raja Ramanna Fellowship from the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India

False aneurysm of the radial artery: Unusual complication of both-bone forearm fracture in children: A case report

False aneurysm or pseudo aneurysm of an artery in close proximity to fractured bone is a well-recognized entity, and fewer various cases, involving different sites have been reported in the literature. We report new case of a Moroccan's patient who had 10-year-old boy presented with a right non displaced both-bone forearm fracture; the patient was placed in a long arm splint. After, six weeks, the cast was removed. And a pulsatile mass on the volar-radial aspect of the forearm was decouvred. The mass was non-tender and the patient had radial and ulnar pulse. An Ultrasound and brachial angiography showed a false aneurysm of distal radial and the radial artery was ligated
