    Impact of Personality of Working Women on Marital Satisfaction

    Personality traits denote inherited or acquired individual characteristics of thought, feeling and actions that include the psycho-physical, emotional, conscious and unconscious behavior pattern of a person. The major problem in marriage is adjustment to a mate. Interpersonal relationships play as important role in marriage like friendships. But after marriage, the interpersonal relationships are difficult to maintain compare to social life. To evaluate the impact of personality traits on marital adjustment this study was carried out among working women in organized sector. A total of 300 employed women from different professions, e.g. education, health and other services were selected from Ranchi, Hazaribag, Ramgarh and Bokaro district of Jharkhand. Marital relationship is shaped by the action and interaction of various external factors like income, education, type of work, household responsibilities, type of family and internal factors viz., background, interest, temperament, values. Results reveal that majority of the respondents had similar interests and values. There was significant difference in temperament between college teacher-clerk and school teacher-clerk. The respondent belonging to higher service and lower service had no significant difference with respect to similarities of interest and value. Additionally there was a significant difference in adaptability between doctor and clerk, officer and clerk, and school teacher and clerk. To achieve marital harmony one has to be rational, tolerant, cooperative and loving. Successful marriage depends mainly on flexibility, independence, sufficient emotional support and positive communication between the partners

    On the IR completion of geometries with hyperscaling violation

    We study solutions to Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity with a constant magnetic flux which describe, in the holographic AdS/CFT framework, field theories characterized by a dynamical critical exponent and a hyperscaling violation exponent. Such solutions are known to be IR-incomplete due to the presence of a running dilaton, which drives the theory towards strong coupling in the IR, where quantum corrections become important. After introducing generic corrections, in this note we examine the conditions for the emergence of an AdS_2 x R^2 region close to the horizon, which provides an IR-completion for the hyperscaling violating solutions. In the presence of these corrections, we construct explicit numerical solutions where the geometry flows from AdS_4 in the UV to AdS_2 x R^2 in the deep IR, with an intermediate region which exhbits both hyperscaling violation and Lifshitz scaling.We also provide constraints on the structure of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theories that admit such solutions, as well as an emergent AdS_2 x R^2 region in the infrared.Comment: Typos fixed, references added, improved discussio

    Rationale and protocol of the Study Of diabetic Nephropathy with AtRasentan (SONAR) trial:A clinical trial design novel to diabetic nephropathy

    Aims Individuals with diabetes and chronic kidney disease (CKD) are at high risk for renal events. Recent trials of novel treatments have been negative, possibly because of variability in response to treatment of the target risk factor. Atrasentan is a selective endothelin A receptor antagonist that reduces urinary albumin‐to‐creatinine ratio (UACR), with a large variability between patients. We are assessing its effect on renal outcomes in the Study Of diabetic Nephropathy with AtRasentan (SONAR; NCT01858532) with an enrichment design (>30% lowering of albuminuria) to select patients most likely to benefit. Materials and Methods SONAR is a randomized, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled trial with approximately 3500 participants who have stage 2–4 CKD and macroalbuminuria and are receiving a maximum tolerated dose of a renin‐angiotensin system inhibitor. Results After 6 weeks of exposure to atrasentan 0.75 mg once daily (enrichment period), participants with ≄30% UACR decrease and no tolerability issues (responders) were randomly assigned to placebo or atrasentan 0.75 mg/day. The responder group will be used for primary efficacy and safety analyses. Approximately 1000 participants with <30% UACR reduction (non‐responders) were also randomized to placebo or atrasentan. The primary endpoint is a composite of a sustained doubling of serum creatinine or end‐stage renal disease. The original power calculation indicated that a total of 425 primary renal events in the responder group provides 90% power to detect a 27% reduction in relative risk (alpha level of .05). Conclusion SONAR aims to determine whether atrasentan added to guideline‐recommended therapies safely reduces the risk of CKD progression and delays the onset of end‐stage renal disease in patients with type 2 diabetes and nephropathy. SONAR also aims to establish whether the enrichment of patients based on their initial “surrogate” response to atrasentan will deliver a trial design in accord with personalized treatment of diabetic kidney disease

    INTELLANCE 2/EORTC 1410 randomized phase II study of Depatux-M alone and with temozolomide vs temozolomide or lomustine in recurrent EGFR amplified glioblastoma

    BACKGROUND: Depatuxizumab mafodotin (Depatux-M) is a tumor-specific antibody-drug conjugate consisting of an antibody (ABT-806) directed against activated epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and the toxin monomethylauristatin-F. We investigated Depatux-M in combination with temozolomide or as a single agent in a randomized controlled phase II trial in recurrent EGFR amplified glioblastoma. METHODS: Eligible were patients with centrally confirmed EGFR amplified glioblastoma at first recurrence after chemo-irradiation with temozolomide. Patients were randomized to either Depatux-M 1.25 mg/kg every 2 weeks intravenously, or this treatment combined with temozolomide 150-200 mg/m2 day 1-5 every 4 weeks, or either lomustine or temozolomide. The primary endpoint of the study was overall survival. RESULTS: Two hundred sixty patients were randomized. In the primary efficacy analysis with 199 events (median follow-up 15.0 mo), the hazard ratio (HR) for the combination arm compared with the control arm was 0.71 (95% CI = 0.50, 1.02; P = 0.062). The efficacy of Depatux-M monotherapy was comparable to that of the control arm (HR = 1.04, 95% CI = 0.73, 1.48; P = 0.83). The most frequent toxicity in Depatux-M treated patients was a reversible corneal epitheliopathy, occurring as grades 3-4 adverse events in 25-30% of patients. In the long-term follow-up analysis with median follow-up of 28.7 months, the HR for the comparison of the combination arm versus the control arm was 0.66 (95% CI = 0.48, 0.93). CONCLUSION: This trial suggests a possible role for the use of Depatux-M in combination with temozolomide in EGFR amplified recurrent glioblastoma, especially in patients relapsing well after the end of first-line adjuvant temozolomide treatment.     Intermediate scalings in holographic RG flows and conductivities

    We construct numerically finite density domain-wall solutions which interpolate between two AdS 4 fixed points and exhibit an intermediate regime of hyperscaling violation, with or without Lifshitz scaling. Such RG flows can be realized in gravitational models containing a dilatonic scalar and a massive vector field with appropriate choices of the scalar potential and couplings. The infrared AdS 4 fixed point describes a new ground state for strongly coupled quantum systems realizing such scalings, thus avoiding the well-known extensive zero temperature entropy associated with AdS2×R2. We also examine the zero temperature behavior of the optical conductivity in these backgrounds and identify two scaling regimes before the UV CFT scaling is reached. The scaling of the conductivity is controlled by the emergent IR conformal symmetry at very low frequencies, and by the intermediate scaling regime at higher frequencies
