DEVELOPING A PERFORMANCE IMPORTANCE MATRIX FOR A PUBLIC SECTOR BUS TRANSPORT COMPANY: A CASE STUDY

    Get PDF
This paper presents a study of comparison of the importance attached by the service providers’ and the customers’ with respect to eighteen service characteristics towards the public transportation services provided by a bus company. The survey was conducted in three bus depots in one division of a state road transport undertaking (SRTU) in south India. The importance the SRTU and the customers attach to these characteristics indicates significant differences. This reveals the existence of a gap between customers’ expectations and the service provided by the company. Finally the customer retention and customer development criteria have been. identified.Performance importance matrix, Customer expectations, Public bus transport, Radar chart.

Relativistic calculations of angular dependent photoemission time delay

    Get PDF
Angular dependence of photoemission time delay for the valence np3/2np_{3/2} and np1/2np_{1/2} subshells of Ar, Kr and Xe is studied in the dipole relativistic random phase approximation. Strong angular anisotropy of the time delay is reproduced near respective Cooper minima while the spin-orbit splitting affects the time delay near threshold

Knowledge, attitude, and practice of ‘P-drug concept’ among postgraduate residents and interns in a tertiary care teaching hospital in Maharashtra

Background: A P-drug is a clinician’s personal or preferred or priority choice drug. The study aims to evaluate the knowledge, awareness, and practice of P-drug, which helps postgraduates to prescribe medicines rationally. The objective of this study is to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice of the P-drug concept among postgraduate students at a tertiary care teaching hospital. Methods: The study is a prospective, cross-sectional pre-validated questionnaire-based study conducted in the tertiary care teaching hospital. A total of 300 postgraduates, interns and consultants from Tertiary care teaching hospital from Maharashtra were enrolled and instructed to fill the questionnaire. These filled forms were collected, and data was analyzed. Results: Out of 300 members, 233 filled the questionnaire, and these forms are evaluated. About 49.7% among them are aware of P-drug, 43.4% are aware of P-treatment, 28.4% are not including fixed-dose combinations in their P-drug list, 42% are aware of the advantages of prescribing P-drug, and 48.4% felt that teaching programs are needed for preparing P-drug list. Conclusions: The P-drug concept is requisite for improving the quality of health care and practicing rational use of medicine. As only a few studies have been conducted on the P-drug idea in this institute, the institutional teaching review board should run teaching programs regarding the P-drug concept

Tunneling Via Individual Electronic States in Ferromagnetic Nanoparticles

We measure electron tunneling via discrete energy levels in ferromagnetic cobalt particles less than 4 nm in diameter, using non-magnetic electrodes. Due to magnetic anisotropy, the energy of each tunneling resonance shifts as an applied magnetic field rotates the particle's magnetic moment. We see both spin-increasing and decreasing tunneling transitions, but we do not observe the spin degeneracy at small magnetic fields seen previously in non-magnetic materials. The tunneling spectrum is denser than predicted for independent electrons, possibly due to spin-wave excitations.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures. Improved by comments from referees, to appear in Phys. X-Ray Observation of the Roche-lobe-filling White Dwarf plus Hot Subdwarf System ZTF J213056.71+442046.5

    Get PDF
ZTF J213056.71+442046.5 is the prototype of a small class of recently discovered compact binaries composed of a white dwarf and a hot subdwarf that fills its Roche lobe. Its orbital period of only 39 minutes is the shortest known for the objects in this class. Evidence for a high orbital inclination (i = 86°) and for the presence of an accretion disk has been inferred from a detailed modeling of its optical photometric and spectroscopic data. We report the results of an XMM-Newton observation carried out on 2021 January 7. ZTF J213056.71+442046.5 was clearly detected by the Optical Monitor, which showed a periodic variability in the UV band (200–400 nm), with a light curve similar to that seen at longer wavelengths. Despite accretion on the white dwarf at an estimated rate of the order of 10−9 M⊙ yr−1, no X-rays were detected with the EPIC instrument, with a limit of ∼1030 erg s−1 on the 0.2–12 keV luminosity. We discuss possible explanations for the lack of a strong X-ray emission from this system

Intershell-correlation-induced time delay in atomic photoionization

    Get PDF
We predict an observable Wigner time delay in outer atomic shell photoionization near inner shell thresholds. The near-threshold increase of time delay is caused by intershell correlation and serves as a sensitive probe of this effect. The time delay increase is present even when the inner and outer shell thresholds are hundreds of electron volts apart. We illustrate this observation by several prototypical examples in noble gas atoms from Ne to Kr. In our study, we employ the random phase approximation with exchange and its relativistic generalization. We also support our findings by a simplified, yet quite insightful, treatment within the lowest-order perturbation theory.S.T.M. acknowledges the support of the Chemical Sciences, Geosciences, and Biosciences Division, Office of Basic Energy Sciences, Office of Science, US Department of Energy, under Grant No. DE-FG02-03ER15428

Effects of spin-orbit-interaction-activated interchannel coupling on photoemission time delay

Spin-orbit-interaction-activated interchannel coupling (SOIAIC) has been investigated theoretically in the time delay domain for 3d photoemission in the isoelectronic sequence I−, Xe, and Cs+ using the relativisticrandom-phase approximation with relaxation. The results show that SOIAIC becomes more important with increasing nuclear charge, and that time delay is affected more strongly than cross sections or photoelectron angular distribution β parameters.S.B. acknowledges the support of the Director, Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati. Interchannel coupling effects in the spin polarization of energetic photoelectrons

Effects of the interchannel coupling on the spin polarization of energetic photoelectrons emitted from atomic Ne valence subshells are examined. Like previously obtained results for cross sections and angular distributions, the photoelectron spin polarization parameters too are found considerably influenced by the coupling. The result completes a series of studies to finally conclude that the independent particle description is inadequate for the {\em entire} range of photoionization dynamics over the {\em full} spectral energy domainComment: 7 pages, 5 figures, accepted in Phys.
