Get PDF
In this paper, locally asymptotic stability of q-fractional order nonlinear dynamical systems is introduced and studied. The sufficient conditions for local stability of such dynamical systems are obtained. Also, useful definitions of fractional order q-integrals and q-derivatives are recalled. Finally, a q-fractional order nonlinear dynamical model is considered

    Get PDF
In this article, we deal with a class of projective Klingenberg planes constructed over a plural algebra of order m. Thanks to this, the incidence matrices for some special cases of the class are obtained. Next, the number of collineations of the certain classes are found. Besides, an example of a collineation for these classes are given. Finally, we achieve to carry the obtained results to more general case

The benign mimickers of carcinoma on breast MRI

    Get PDF
The similarity between benign and malignant pathologies on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and a wide-ranging variability of the lesions from benign proliferative changes to invasive breast carcinoma cause a lower and wide-ranging specificity of breast MRI relative to its surpass sensitivity. A wide range of tissue components such as the skin, the adipose tissue, vascular and neural tissues, connective tissues, glandular tissues, ducts, and muscle tissues are found here all together. This pictorial review was aimed at deliberating benign mimickers of breast carcinoma on MRI and trying to call attention to the overlapping and distinctive features

Abstract

Background

In experimentally induced puromycine aminonucleoside nephrosis (PAN) animal models, nephrotic syndrome with minimal change disease and focal and segmental sclerosis-like nephritis similar to that in human is demonstrated; however, the real mechanism of PAN is not yet elucidated. Platelet derived endothelial cell growth factor (PD-ECGF), an endothelial mitogen protein, is believed to take part in microvessel formation and in stimulation of angiogenesis and its expression has not been totally demonstrated in PAN rats yet. In this study, we aimed to examine PD-ECGF expression in acute and chronic PAN induced in rats and find out the association between its expression and the stages of angiogenesis in kidney.

Methods

For the experiment, twenty-four Male Wistar Albino rats were used and divided into four groups; control group (n = 6), pre-proteinuria group (n = 6), acute group (n = 6) and chronic group (n = 6). We compared statistically all data by One-way ANOVA Test followed by Dunn Multiple Comparison Test.

Results

Proteinurea levels in control and pre-proteinuria groups were not statistically different; however, it was remarkably higher in the acute nephrosis group and significantly greater in the chronic nephrosis group than control group (<it>p </it>< 0.0025). In pre-proteinuria group, the serum albumin and creatinine clearances also did not significantly differ from the control group. On the other hand, in the acute and chronic nephrosis groups, serum albumin and creatinine clearances progressively decreased (<it>p </it>< 0.05). In our immunohistochemical studies, we showed elevated PD-ECGF expression in glomeruli of acute and chronic PAN rats. Microscopic and ultrastructural appearances of the glomeruli of acute and chronic PAN showed various sequential steps of angiogenesis, macrophages and immature capillaries with primitive lumens and apoptotic endothelial cells in the increased mesangial matrix.

Conclusions

It is reported that acute and chronic PAN progressively increase PD-ECGF expression and following induction of angiogenesis in the affected glomeruli.</p

DergiPark: 889334tmsjAims: To establish a dataset including demographic features, disease characteristics, and survival rate of follicular lymphoma patients in Trakya Universi- ty School of Medicine and contribute to the database of follicular lymphoma in Turkey. Methods: In this retrospective cross-sectional study, we analyzed data constituting of follicular lymphoma patients over 18 years of age followed during the years of 2015-2020 in Trakya University Division of Hematology. Results: Out of 43 patients, 22 (51.2%) were female and 21 (48.8%) were male. The mean age was 56.56 (standard deviation 13.24) years. There were 5 (11.6%) pa- tients with B symptoms, presence of bone marrow involvement was seen in 17 (39.5%) patients, lastly, there were 18 (41.9%) patients with splenomegaly. Twen- ty-one (48.8%) patients received rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin hydrochloride, vincristine sulfate, and prednisone, making it the most common treatment protocol administered in our study. Conclusion: Follicular lymphoma patients usually end up getting diagnosed at an advanced stage of the disease, presenting with incidentally noticed painless lymphadenopathy. Additionally, based on evidence in the literature, a clear gap in the successful diagnosis of follic- ular lymphoma patients can be observed between developed and developing countries. To overcome this hurdle, enhanced cooperation with hematopathology may lead to an increased awareness enabling physicians to make a more accurate diagnosis. Nonetheless, further studies are still needed to fully apprehend the epidemiology of follicular lymphoma patients in Turkey

Huge Peripheral Giant Cell Granuloma Leading to Bone Resorption: A Report of Two Cases

    Get PDF
ABSTRACT Although peripheral giant cell granulomas (PGCG) develop mainly within soft tissue, on rare occasions they may involve underlying bone and become visible radiologically. In such cases, the diameter of the hemorrhagic lesion rarely exceeds 20 mm, and pain is uncommon. This paper describes the successful treatment of two cases of huge PGCGs that led to alveolar bone resorption. Key words: Peripheral giant cell granuloma, bone resorption, surgery

The effect of prolonged incubation and temperature on oocyte activator phospholipase C-zeta activity of sperm

Objective: Fertilization capacity of capacitated sperm decreases exponentially over time, but the reason is still under investigation. The aim of the study was to analyze the effect of prolonged incubation and temperature on sperm fertilization capacity with motility and staining parameters of phospholipase C-zeta (PLCZ), which is considered to be the oocyte activation factor. Materials and Methods: Density gradient washing was applied to semen of 11 infertile patients without severe oligoasthenospermia out of 16 patients. The samples were divided and cultured either at room temperature or at 37°C for 3 days. The spermatozoons were evaluated for motility, PLCZ staining and intensity daily. Results: All parameters decreased both at room and body temperature with increased incubation time. There was a strong correlation between the change in motility and in the percentage of PLCZ stained sperms, but this correlation decreased with incubation time. Conclusion: Prolonged incubation results show the correlation between PLCZ staining parameters and motility. Routine use of PLCZ staining together with semen analysis, will be useful to predict fertilization capacity of the sperm especially for unexplained infertility and fertilization failure cases, and also can increase the success of assisted reproductive technologies (ART) cycles

Objective Both fetuses may be affected negatively as a result of the non-equal share of the placenta and vascular anastomoses in monochorionic pregnancies with selective intrauterine growth restriction (sIUGR). In our study, we aimed to investigate the perinatal outcomes of both larger and smaller fetuses in monochorionic pregnancies with and without sIUGR (non-sIUGR) separately. Methods A total of 196 monochorionic twin pregnancies were evaluated retrospectively between January 2013 and January 2019. The cases were grouped as sIUGR and non-sIUGR pregnancies. The pregnancies with sIUGR were also separated into sub-groups as the cases with normal umbilical flow pattern and the cases with abnormal umbilical flow pattern. The perinatal outcomes were investigated separately between the groups for larger and smaller fetuses. Results Of 153 monochorionic pregnancies included in the study, 17.6% (n=27) were sIUGR cases and 82.4% (n=126) were non-sIUGR cases. While the umbilical artery flow pattern was normal in 59.3% (n=16) of the pregnancies which developed sIUGR, 40.7% (n=11) of them had abnormal umbilical artery flow pattern. The preeclampsia rate was found significantly higher in sIUGR pregnancies than non-sIUGR pregnancies (25.9% vs. 11.1%, p=0.042). The need for intensive care for both larger and smaller newborns was significantly higher in sIUGR pregnancies compared to non-sIUGR pregnancies (p<0.001). Three (11.1%) of newborns in sIUGR pregnancies passed away during neonatal period. All of the newborns that passed away were the smaller newborns from sIUGR pregnancies with abnormal umbilical artery flow pattern. Conclusion The pregnancies with selective intrauterine growth restriction (sIUGR) are more associated with high risks in terms of perinatal outcomes compared to the pregnancies with non-sIUGR. In pregnancies developing sIUGR, the risk increases for larger fetus as well as smaller fetus. More prospective studies are needed to investigate whether this increased risk in the pregnancies with sIUGR is associated with prematurity which is more common or is a result of sIUGR
