    We compute the rates for pp annihilation into chargino-pairs via Drell-Yan process taking into account the effects of supersymmetric soft phases, at proton-proton collider. In particular, the phase of the mu parameter gains direct accessibility via the production of dissimilar charginos.     Relaxation of the Dynamical Gluino Phase and Unambiguous Electric Dipole Moments

    We propose a new axionic solution of the strong CP problem with a Peccei-Quinn mechanism using the gluino rather than quarks. The spontaneous breaking of this new global U(1) at 10^{11} GeV also generates the supersymmetry breaking scale of 1 TeV (solving the so-called \mu problem at the same time) and results in the MSSM (Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model) with R parity conservation.     Observable Electron EDM and Leptogenesis

    In the context of the minimal supersymmetric seesaw model, the CP-violating neutrino Yukawa couplings might induce an electron EDM. The same interactions may also be responsible for the generation of the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe via leptogenesis. We identify in a model-independent way those patterns within the seesaw models which predict an electron EDM at a level probed by planned laboratory experiments and show that negative searches on \tau-> e \gamma decay may provide the strongest upper bound on the electron EDM. We also conclude that a possible future detection of the electron EDM is incompatible with thermal leptogenesis, even when flavour effects are accounted for.Comment: 26 pages, 6 figure

    Hybrid manufacturing of steel construction parts via arc welding of LPBF-produced and hot-rolled stainless steels

    The demand for free-form steel structures having improved performances, reducing labour and resource usage is increasing in the construction sector. Structural nodes are some of the most critical regions for steel structures characterised often by large dimensions. These nodes can exploit the geometrical freedom of metal additive manufacturing (MAM) processes. Laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) is arguably the most developed MAM process, which has limitations regarding the size of the parts to be produced. A way to overcome the size limits of LPBF for producing structural nodes while still exploiting its geometrical capacity is producing hybrid components by welding them to traditionally manufactured beams. Such hybrid joints would constitute a complex system from a mechanical design perspective requiring a systematic analysis in order to be certified for structural use. Accordingly, this work studies the mechanical behaviour of hybrid steel components generated by welding LPBF plates and quarto plates made of AISI 316L stainless steel. The work was guided by a case study based on a large steel node, which helped defining the requirements to fill the gap of the international standards. The mechanical characterisation of LPBF-produced plates and quarto plates, as well as the welded hybrid components revealed a maximum of 10% difference between the properties of the differently manufactured plates. Through the digital image correlation (DIC) analyses, the anisotropic deformation behaviour along the LPBF, weld seam, and quarto plate regions have been identified, and the properties after welding did not show relevant modifications. The tests allowed to define that the failure behaviour is mainly governed by interlayer bounds, and a 0.9 safety reduction parameter for considering the reduction of ductility induced by arc welding to LPBF. Finally, design and production suggestions have been provided for a correct evaluation of gross and effective sections of the designed nodes

    We show that general Minimal Supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model (MSSM) allow for a CP asymmetry in B --> J/psi K(S) well bellow the SM expectations with dominant Supersymmetric contributions to epsilon_K and epsilon'/epsilon. Indeed, we provide an explicit example of an MSSM with non-universal soft breaking terms fully consistent with the low results of this asymmetry recently announced by Babar and Belle collaborations.Comment: 6 pages, no figures.     Ferromagnetic materials are used in various applications such as rotating electrical machines, wind turbines, electromagnetic shielding, transformers, and electromagnets. Compared to hard magnetic materials, their hysteresis cycles are featured by low values of coercive magnetic field and high permeability. The application of additive manufacturing to ferromagnetic materials is gaining more and more attraction. Indeed, thanks to a wider geometrical freedom, new topological optimized shapes for stator/rotor shapes can be addressed to enhance electric machines performances.     Flavour-Conserving CP Phases in Supersymmetry and Implications for Exclusive B Decays

    We study rare exclusive B decays based on the quark-level transition b->s(d)l^+l^-, where l=e or mu, in the context of supersymmetric theories with minimal flavour violation. We present analytic expressions for various mixing matrices in the presence of new CP-violating phases, and examine their impact on observables involving B and \bar{B} decays. An estimate is obtained for CP-violating asymmetries in B->K^(*)l^+l^- and B->rho(pi)l^+l^- decays for the dilepton invariant mass region 1.2 GeV < M_{l^+l^-}< M_{J/psi}. As a typical result, we find a CP-violating partial width asymmetry of about -6% (-5%) in the case of B->pi (B->rho) in effective supersymmetry with phases of O(1), taking into account the measurement of the inclusive b->s gamma branching fraction. On the other hand, CP asymmetries of less than 1% are predicted in the case of B->K^(*). We argue that it is not sufficient to have additional CP phases of O(1) to observe large CP-violating effects in exclusive b->s(d)l^+l^- decays.Comment: 34 pages, REVTeX, 6 figures, final version to appear in Phys.     Probing scalar-pseudoscalar mixing in the CP violating MSSM at high-energy e+ee^+e^- colliders

    We study the production processes e+eHi0Ze^+e^-\to H^0_iZ, Hi0Hj0H^0_iH^0_j and Hi0νeνeH^0_i\nu_e\overline \nu_e in the context of the CP violating MSSM. In a given channel we show that the cross-section for all i (=1,2,3) can be above 0.1 fb provided M_{H_{2,3}}\la 300 GeV.
