    Haplotype structure and copy number polymorphism of the beta-defensin 7 genes in diverse chicken breeds

    Beta-defensins is a family of avian peptides related to the innate immune system. Copy number variation was recently reported for the avian beta-defensin 7 gene (AvBD7) between the highly inbred Leghorn and Fayoumi lines. Here, we examined copy number variants in 35 different chicken breeds and found that 31 of them have at least the same representation of the duplicated AvBD7 allele. We also found haplotypes upstream of the AvBD6 regions that are strongly linked to the AvBD7 duplication. We observed a strong linkage disequilibrium spanning of the upstream region of the AvBD6 gene, with two SNPs being flanking markers to detect duplication of the AvBD7

    Genome-wide association study for frozen-thawed sperm motility in stallions across various horse breeds

    Objective: The semen quality of stallions including sperm motility is an important target of selection as it has a high level of individual variability. However, effects of the molecular architecture of the genome on the mechanisms of sperm formation and their preservation after thawing have been poorly investigated. Here, we conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS) for the sperm motility of cryopreserved semen in stallions of various breeds. Methods: Semen samples were collected from the stallions of 23 horse breeds. The following semen characteristics were examined: progressive motility (PM), progressive motility after freezing (FPM), and the difference between PM and FPM. The respective DNA samples from these stallions were genotyped using Axiom™ Equine Genotyping Array. Results: We performed a GWAS search for single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers and potential genes related to motility properties of frozen-thawed semen in the stallions of various breeds. As a result of the GWAS analysis, two SNP markers, rs1141327473 and rs1149048772, were identified that were associated with preservation of the frozen-thawed stallion sperm motility, the relevant putative candidate genes being NME8, OR2AP1 and OR6C4. Potential implications of effects of these genes on sperm motility are herein discussed. Conclusion: The GWAS results enabled us to localize novel SNPs and candidate genes for sperm motility in stallions. Implications of the study for horse breeding and genetics are a better understanding of genomic regions and candidate genes underlying stallion sperm quality, and improvement in horse reproduction and breeding techniques. The identified markers and genes for sperm cryotolerance and the respective genomic regions are promising candidates for further studying the biological processes in the formation and function of the stallion reproductive system

    The article discusses the clinical and morphological results of complex treatment of experimental periodontitis on the author's model of the disease. Animals on the 28th day after the simulation of experimental periodontitis was performed using the LANAP procedure with a SiroLaser diode laser. Then they were divided into two groups: the control group and the experimental group, whose treatment included injections of hyaluronic acid. The positive dynamics of the periodontitis course was revealed in all observation groups, especially in the group with the inclusion of the periodontal tissue biorevitalization course.В статье рассматриваются клинические и морфологические результаты комплексного лечения экспериментального пародонтита на авторской модели заболевания. Животным на 28 сутки после моделирования экспериментального пародонтита проводили процедуру LANAP диодным лазером SiroLaser. Затем их разделили на две группы: группу контроля и исследуемую группу, в курс лечения которой включали инъекции гиалуроновой кислоты. Выявлена положительная динамика течения пародонтита во всех группах наблюдения, особенно в группе с включением курса биоревитализации тканей пародонта

    Aim: to study the level of antibodies to strains of the influenza virus in trivalent vaccine, in pregnant women vaccinated in different trimester of the gestation. Materials and methods: according to CPMP criteria the level of postvaccinal antibodies to the strain of influenza A and B virus was determined by the hemagglutination inhibition reaction in sera of 48 women vaccinated in the second and third trimester of gestation. Results: in 1 month after vaccination against influenza in pregnant women the level of the seroprotection, seroconversion and the factor of the seroconversion increased in accordance with CPMP requirements. In six months after the birth, the protective titer of antibodies to different strains was registered in 30,4–70,2% of women wich was vaccinated in second trimester and 52,4–66,7% in the third trimester of gestation. Conclusion: the level of the postvaccination antibodies to influenza virus (except for the strain A / H3N2 / in vaccinated in the second trimester) in pregnant women met the criteria for CPMP irrespective of the trimester of gestation.Цель: изучение уровня антител к штаммам вируса гриппа, входящим в состав субъединичной трехвалентной вакцины, с учетом триместра иммунизации беременных. Материалы и методы: в реакции торможения гемагглютинации изучен уровень поствакцинальных антител, согласно критериям CPMP, к штаммам вируса гриппа А и В у 48 женщин, вакцинированных во II и III триместре гестации. Результаты: уровень серопротекции, сероконверсии, фактор сероконверсии через 1 месяц после вакцинации беременных против гриппа увеличивались в соответствии с требованиями CPMP. Через 6 месяцев после родов защитный титр антител к разным штаммам регистрировался в 30,4–70,2% у вакцинированных во II и в 52,4%–66,7% случаев – в III триместре гестации. Заключение: независимо от триместра иммунизации уровень поствакцинальных антител к вирусу гриппа у беременных соответствовал критериям CPMP, за исключением штамма A/H3N2/ у вакцинированных во II триместре

    Investigation of possible acute, subchronic toxicity of composition based on cellular products and safety of its applications in experiment on animals

    The aim of our study was to identify possible acute and subchronic toxicity, to establish the safety of the use of a composition based on cell products under experimental conditions in three types of laboratory animals, with different routes of administration. The studies were carried out on white mongrel mice weighing 19-21 g, white rats of the Wistar lineage weighing 190-240, rabbits of the Chinchilla breed with a mass of 2.8-3.6 kg of both sexes. The results of the conducted studies showed that the composition based on cell products in native form and as a 10% suspension does not cause acute and subchronic toxicity. The different degree of expression of motor activity and behavior, before and after administration of 0.4 ml of a 10% suspension of the test composition, became the main criterion for the separation of this population of females and males into subpopulations by the level of anxiety. The composition based on cell products does not cause a local irritant effect on mucous membranes and skin of rabbits. The test composition with subchronic application does not show sensitizing properties.Целью нашего исследования было выявление возможной острой и субхронической токсичности, установление безопасности применения композиции на основе клеточных продуктов в экспериментальных условиях на трёх видах лабораторных животных при различных путях её введения. Исследования проведены на белых беспородных мышах массой 19-21 г, белых крысах популяции линии Wistar массой 190-240, кроликах породы Шиншилла массой 2,8-3,6 кг обоего пола. результаты проведенных исследований показали, что композиция на основе клеточных продуктов в нативном виде и в виде 10% суспензии не вызывает острой и субхронической токсичности. различная степень выраженности показателей двигательной активности и исследуемого поведения, до и после ведения 0.4 мл 10 % суспензии исследуемой композиции, стала основным критерием для разделения данной популяции самок и самцов на субпопуляции по уровню тревожности. композиция на основе клеточных продуктов не вызывает местного раздражающего действия на слизистые и кожные покровы кроликов. Исследуемый состав при субхроническом применении не проявляет сенсибилизирующих свойств

    Since 2017, a volunteer project «Happy Smile» has been implemented at the dental faculty of USMU, during which tutors and students of the faculty carry out preventive measures in educational institutions, shopping and entertainment centers, hospitals of the city. The events are aimed at promoting health-saving technologies among the population of different ages and increasing literacy in relation to the prevention of oral diseases, improving the quality of life of the population by reducing the level of dental morbidity, developing professional and supraprofessional competencies of a modern graduate dentistС 2017 года на стоматологическом факультете УГМУ реализуется волонтерский проект «Счастливая улыбка», в ходе которого преподаватели и студенты факультета проводят профилактические мероприятия в образовательных учреждениях, торгово-развлекательных центрах, больницах города.
