The application of rules in morphology, syntax and number processing: a case of selective deficit of procedural or executive mechanisms?: Deficit of procedural or executive mechanisms

International audienceDeclarative memory is a long-term store for facts, concepts and words. Procedural memory subserves the learning and control of sensorimotor and cognitive skills, including the mental grammar. In this study, we report a single-case study of a mild aphasic patient who showed procedural deficits in the presence of preserved declarative memory abilities. We administered several experiments to explore rule application in morphology, syntax and number processing. Results partly support the differentiation between declarative and procedural memory. Moreover, the patient's performance varied according to the domain in which rules were to be applied, which underlines the need for more fine-grained distinctions in cognition between procedural rules

The French Genetic Resources Centre on Small Grain Cereals: a tool-box for prebreeding

    No full text
International audienceThe small grain cereals Genetic Resources Centre (GRC) gathers accessions of major species of agricultural interest belonging to genus Triticum (wheat), Hordeum (barley), Secale (rye), Triticosecale (triticale), Avena (oat), and there wild relatives. About 25 000 accessions composed by patrimonial genetic resources as landraces, breeding lines, registrated cultivars, are held in INRA Clermont-Ferrand. All these genetic resources constitute a useful genebank as well, for basic, genomic studies and applied breeding approaches. Different genetic analyses have contributed to describe the genetic diversity of the GRC collections. The main result was the definition of a core collection (F. Balfourier, et al., 2007) which is now highly genotyped for more than 120 000 SNP and phenotyped for a hundred of agronomical and technological descriptors (Bordes et al., 2008, 2011, 2013). A part of the bread wheat collection is also evaluated in precompetitive national project “Breedwheat” and in the European project “Whealbi”. Genetic Resources Centre is a part of different kind of network at national level, in the national networks for cereal crop genetic resources, and at European level, in ECPGR Cereals Networks. The implementation of a quality management system is in progress, with a first quality-label from a French organization IBiSA in 2013 and CRG engages itself in a certification process. A part of small grains cereals collection is available online on SIReGal database (http://urgi.versailles.inra.fr/siregal) and request of seeds samples can be done directly by SIReGal or by mail. This database is a part of a global portal (GnpIS) which allows crossing and exchanging data from genomic, proteomic and phenotypic evaluations

Certification process of small grain cereals BRC in France

In France, genetic resources are maintained in several Biological Resources Centres (BRC) spread all over the country. Most part of these BRC are involved in a quality management process. The development of quality system becomes a priority in regard of new notions (as collection of reference) and requirement at European and international levels. In this context, the French small grain cereals BRC engages itself in a certification process since March 2014. The certification's framework applied to principal missions of small grain cereals BRC:acquisition and regeneration. Each year new materials are introduced in collection for different purposes (scientific projects, evaluation networks, ie...). To be able to answer to Nagoya protocol requirement and also to be in agreement with European collection (AEGIS) philosophy, acquisition process has been clarified and standardized. Regeneration of small grain cereals genetic resources are realized at INRA Clermont-Ferrand with around 10% of the whole collection (≈ 27 000 acc.) characterized per year for primary descriptors. A part of these data is available online on SIReGal database (http://urgi.versailles.inra.fr/siregal).conservation: Active collection is maintained in a 100 m3 cold room at +4°C and 30% relative humidity. It is used to regeneration, multiplication, distribution, characterization and assessment. Base collection is maintained at -20°C in freezer as secure storage. Various tests concerning drying before storage and germination are done to improve conservation conditions. distribution: To improve access to small grain cereals collections, a work on data's curation and submission to SIReGal database has been done and it still in process. Around 4 300 samples have been distributed in 2014, mainly to researchers and breeders but also to farmers and associations. Terms and conditions of BRC have been formalized and a first survey of genetic resources' requesters was launched in autumn 2014 to better understand their expectations and to have a feedback on BRC services (seed quality, available information, delay, documentation
). Each proceeding has been well documented to clarify and improved our methodology
