Curvatura Da SuperfĂcie E Seu Efeito Na Variabilidade Espacial Dos Atributos Do Solo, Pinheiral - Rj/br
Understanding the spatial variability of soil chemical and physical attributes is important for improving management practices and soil conservation. In turn, the spatial variability of soil properties results from variation in morphological relief characteristics. Thus, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of landform curvature on the spatial variability of soil chemical and physical attributes in the Mar de Morros region (Pinheiral-Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil). Two adjacent landforms were selected with convex and concave curvature and sampled in a regularly spaced grid of 10 meters. A total of 56 soil samples (0-5 cm depth) from the two landforms were collected and analyzed for physical and chemical attributes. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and geostatistics. All chemical attributes showed random patterns of spatial variability in both landforms. The concave landform had higher values of pH and potassium and lower values of aluminum than the convex landform. In contrast, silt content showed spatial dependence in both the concave and convex landforms. Bulk density and clay showed spatial dependence in the convex landform. Bulk density and silt content increased from the shoulder to the footslope of both landforms. The results show that, for this study area, landform curvature has more influence on the spatial dependence of soil physical attributes than of soil chemical properties. © 2016, Federal University of Lavras. Variation of growth performance of the striped venus clam Chamelea gallina (Mollusca: Bivalvia) (Linnaeus, 1758) in relation to environmental variables along the southern part of its geographic range
This study reports relative growth, shell length-age keys and growth performance indices (overall growth performance (OGP) and phi prime) for the striped venus Chamelea gallina from the Huelva coast in southwest (SW) Spain. The morphometric relationship shell height (SH)/shell length (SL) presented isometric growth whereas SL/shell width (SW) and SL/weight (W) displayed negative allometric growth. Shell length at age was estimated through length-frequency distribution (LF) and internal shell growth bands by acetate peel method (AP). C. gallina population consists mainly of three age classes with shell lengths around 13-15 mm for the first year, 25 mm for the second year and 30 mm for the third year. The OGP and phi prime values obtained in the present study are within the range of values for other C. gallina populations from the Gulf of Cádiz. Nevertheless, marked differences in growth performance were observed between populations from the Black Sea (lower growth performance) and from other locations along the southern distribution area of this species, which may be related to the low levels of temperature (SST), salinity (SSS) and chlorophyll-a (chl-a) concentration that exhibit large intra-annual fluctuations.En prensa0,371
The effect of mirabegron on patient-related outcomes in patients with overactive bladder: the results of post hoc correlation and responder analyses using pooled data from three randomized Phase III trials
Purpose To understand how improvements in the symptoms
of overactive bladder (OAB) seen with the b3-adrenoceptor
agonist mirabegron 50 mg, correlate with patient experience
as measured by validated and standard patient-reported
outcomes (PROs), and to identify whether there is overall
directional consistency in the responsiveness of PROs to
treatment effect.
Methods In a post hoc analysis of pooled data from three
randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, 12-week
Phase III trials of mirabegron 50 mg once daily, responder
rates for incontinence frequency (C50 % reduction in
incontinence episodes/24 h from baseline to final visit),
micturition frequency (B8 micturitions/24 h at final visit),
and PROs [minimally important differences in patient
perception of bladder condition (PPBC) and subsets of the
overactive bladder questionnaire (OAB-q) measuring total
health-related quality of life (HRQoL), and symptom
bother] were evaluated individually and in combination.
Results Mirabegron 50 mg demonstrated greater
improvement from baseline to final visit than placebo for
each of the responder analyses, whether for individual
objective and subjective outcomes or combinations thereof.
These improvements versus placebo were statistically significant
for all double and triple responder analyses and for
all single responder analyses except PPBC. PRO measurements
showed directional consistency and significant
correlations, and there were also significant correlations
between objective and subjective measures of efficacy.
Conclusions The improvements in objective measures
seen with mirabegron 50 mg translate into a meaningful
clinical benefit as evident by the directional consistency
seen in HRQoL measures of benefit
Influence of Chemical Enhancers and Iontophoresis on the In Vitro Transdermal Permeation of Propranolol: Evaluation by Dermatopharmacokinetics
[EN] The aims of this study were to assess, in vitro, the possibility of administering propranolol transdermally and to evaluate the usefulness of the dermatopharmacokinetic (DPK) method in assessing the transport of drugs through stratum corneum, using propranolol as a model compound. Four chemical enhancers (decenoic and oleic acid, laurocapram, and R-(+)-limonene) and iontophoresis at two current densities, 0.25 and 0.5 mA/cm(2) were tested. R-(+)-limonene, and iontophoresis at 0.5 mA/cm(2) were proven to be the most efficient in increasing propranolol transdermal flux, both doubled the original propranolol transdermal flux. Iontophoresis was demonstrated to be superior than the chemical enhancer because it allowed faster delivery of the drug. The DPK method was sufficiently sensitive to detect subtle vehicle-induced effects on the skin permeation of propranolol. Tracing KAM tori in presymplectic dynamical systems
We present a KAM theorem for presymplectic dynamical systems. The theorem has
a " a posteriori " format. We show that given a Diophantine frequency
and a family of presymplectic mappings, if we find an embedded torus which is
approximately invariant with rotation such that the torus and the
family of mappings satisfy some explicit non-degeneracy condition, then we can
find an embedded torus and a value of the parameter close to to the original
ones so that the torus is invariant under the map associated to the value of
the parameter. Furthermore, we show that the dimension of the parameter space
is reduced if we assume that the systems are exact.Comment: 33 pages and one figur
Higher Derivative Operators from Scherk-Schwarz Supersymmetry Breaking on T^2/Z_2
In orbifold compactifications on T^2/Z_2 with Scherk-Schwarz supersymmetry
breaking, it is shown that (brane-localised) superpotential interactions and
(bulk) gauge interactions generate at one-loop higher derivative counterterms
to the mass of the brane (or zero-mode of the bulk) scalar field. These
brane-localised operators are generated by integrating out the bulk modes of
the initial theory which, although supersymmetric, is nevertheless
non-renormalisable. It is argued that such operators, of non-perturbative
origin and not protected by non-renormalisation theorems, are generic in
orbifold compactifications and play a crucial role in the UV behaviour of the
two-point Green function of the scalar field self-energy. Their presence in the
action with unknown coefficients prevents one from making predictions about
physics at (momentum) scales close to/above the compactification scale(s). Our
results extend to the case of two dimensional orbifolds, previous findings for
S^1/Z_2 and S^1/(Z_2 x Z_2') compactifications where brane-localised higher
derivative operators are also dynamically generated at loop level, regardless
of the details of the supersymmetry breaking mechanism. We stress the
importance of these operators for the hierarchy and the cosmological constant

Axion and neutrino physics from anomaly cancellation
It has been recently shown that the requirement of anomaly cancellation in a
(non-supersymmetric) six-dimensional version of the standard model fixes the
field content to the known three generations. We discuss the phenomenological
consequences of the cancellation of the local anomalies: the strong CP problem
is solved and the fundamental scale of the theory is bounded by the physics of
the axion. Neutrinos acquire a mass in the range suggested by atmospheric

Entanglement Sharing in the Two-Atom Tavis-Cummings Model
Individual members of an ensemble of identical systems coupled to a common
probe can become entangled with one another, even when they do not interact
directly. We investigate how this type of multipartite entanglement is
generated in the context of a system consisting of two two-level atoms
resonantly coupled to a single mode of the electromagnetic field. The dynamical
evolution is studied in terms of the entanglements in the different bipartite
partitions of the system, as quantified by the I-tangle. We also propose a
generalization of the so-called residual tangle that quantifies the inherent
three-body correlations in our tripartite system. This enables us to completely
characterize the phenomenon of entanglement sharing in the case of the two-atom
