The LIL for -statistics in Hilbert spaces
We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the (bounded) law of the
iterated logarithm for -statistics in Hilbert spaces. As a tool we also
develop moment and tail estimates for canonical Hilbert-space valued
-statistics of arbitrary order, which are of independent interest
High-performance functional renormalization group calculations for interacting fermions
We derive a novel computational scheme for functional Renormalization Group
(fRG) calculations for interacting fermions on 2D lattices. The scheme is based
on the exchange parametrization fRG for the two-fermion interaction, with
additional insertions of truncated partitions of unity. These insertions
decouple the fermionic propagators from the exchange propagators and lead to a
separation of the underlying equations. We demonstrate that this separation is
numerically advantageous and may pave the way for refined, large-scale
computational investigations even in the case of complex multiband systems.
Furthermore, on the basis of speedup data gained from our implementation, it is
shown that this new variant facilitates efficient calculations on a large
number of multi-core CPUs. We apply the scheme to the , Hubbard model on
a square lattice to analyze the convergence of the results with the bond length
of the truncation of the partition of unity. In most parameter areas, a fast
convergence can be observed. Finally, we compare to previous results in order
to relate our approach to other fRG studies.Comment: 26 pages, 9 figure
Contour Temperature Programmed Desorption for Monitoring Multiple Chemical Reaction Products
A simple method for obtaining a comprehensive overview of major compounds desorbing from the surface during temperature programmed desorption (TPD) experiments is outlined. Standard commercially available equipment is used to perform the experiment. The method is particularly valuable when high molecular mass compounds are being studied. The acquisition of contour temperature programmed desorption (CTPD) spectra, sampling 50-dalton mass ranges at a time in the thermal desorption experiments, is described and demonstrated for the interaction of benzotriazole adsorbed on a Ni(111) surface. Conventional two-dimensional TPD spectra can be extracted from the CTPD by taking vertical slices of the contour

Cycle-finite module categories
We describe the structure of module categories of finite dimensional algebras
over an algebraically closed field for which the cycles of nonzero
nonisomorphisms between indecomposable finite dimensional modules are finite
(do not belong to the infinite Jacobson radical of the module category).
Moreover, geometric and homological properties of these module categories are
exhibited
Effects of Boron Purity, Mg Stoichiometry and Carbon Substitution on Properties of Polycrystalline MgB
By synthesizing MgB using boron of different nominal purity we found
values of the residual resistivity ratio () from 4 to
20, which covers almost all values found in literature. To obtain high values
of , high purity reagents are necessary. With the isotopically pure boron
we obtained the highest 20 for the stoichiometric compound. We also
investigated MgB samples with 0.8 1.2. For the range
MgB up to MgB we found average values
of between 14 and 24. For smaller variations in stoichiometry () . All of our data point to the conclusion that high
() and low () are intrinsic
material properties associated with high purity MgB. In addition we have
performed initial work on optimizing the formation of carbon doped MgB
via the use of BC. Nearly single phase material can be formed by reaction
of nominal Mg(BC) for 24 hours at . The
for this composition is between and (depending on
criterion).Comment: accepted to Physica C, special MgB2 issu
Development of the Platysma Muscle and the Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System (Human Specimens at 8–17 Weeks of Development)
There is controversy regarding the description of the different regions of the face of the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) and its relationship with the superficial mimetic muscles. The purpose of this study is to analyze the development of the platysma muscle and the SMAS in human specimens at 8–17 weeks of development using an optical microscope. Furthermore, we propose to study the relationship of the anlage of the SMAS and the neighbouring superficial mimetic muscles. The facial musculature derives from the mesenchyme of the second arch and migrates towards the different regions of the face while forming premuscular laminae. During the 8th week of development, the cervical, infraorbital, mandibular, and temporal laminae are observed to be on the same plane. The platysma muscle derives from the cervical lamina and its mandibular extension enclosing the lower part of the parotid region and the cheek, while the SMAS derives from the upper region. During the period of development analyzed in this study, we have observed no continuity between the anlage of the SMAS and that of the superficial layer of the temporal fascia and the zygomaticus major muscle. Nor have we observed any structure similar to the SMAS in the labial region
Photocatalytic hydrogen production using ethanol as sacrificial agent from gas and liquid phases on reduced graphene oxide-TiO2- Pt nanocomposites
ABSTRACT: Various strategies such as heterostructuring, crystal/textural modifications and band gap engineering, have been applied to the improvement of the photocatalytic activity of Titania for hydrogen production from water splitting. In this work deposited Pt on TiO2 is used as electron trap to suppress charge
recombination. To reinforce this effect, composites with graphene oxide (GO) have been prepared, exhibiting promising photocatalytic performance for both hydrogen generation and the degradation of ethanol added as hole scavenger. Photocatalytic reactions were conducted in gas and liquid phases.N/
