The aim of this paper is to analyze Bolsonaro’s institutional political communication during the COVID-19 pandemic. The text develops the argument in two complementary phases: on the one hand, by analyzing the political language, that can be considered as specialized language, used in Bolsonaro’s institutional political communication. On the other hand, by focusing on the negationist and post-truth strategies of banalization of the pandemic present in official statements

The neo-standard variety of Brazilian Portuguese has been undergoing a series of linguistic changes resulting in a gradual loss of the characteristics of a null-subject language (such as Italian or European Portuguese), thereby moving from a pro-drop to a partial pro-drop language. The present paper aims to investigate whether the increasing use of expressed subject pronouns in neo-standard BP can also be found in Brazilian Portuguese as a heritage language (PBLH). To achieve this aim, we will analyse the change of the pro-drop parameter (Duarte 1993, 1995, 1998, 2000) and the features of BP (Berlinck et al. 2009; Orsini 2020; Orsini, Vasco 2007; Vasco 2007)

This paper is part of a research project - still at an early stage - on the process of acquisition of Brazilian Portuguese as a foreign language in the Italian university context. We present here the first data on the acquisition, by Italian-speaking learners (all students of the University of Salento), of morphosyntactic properties associated with the positive/negative value of the pro-drop parameter, also showing the pragmatic-discursive properties that can determine a distribution of null pronominal subjects in different contexts.

The present work focuses on the position of Mário de Andrade in relation to the specificity of Brazilian Portuguese (BP) through the analysis of the annotations in A Gramatiquinha da fala brasileira, which has recently been published in a commemorative edition edited by Aline Novais de Almeida of the Guimarães Rosa Institute (Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation, 2022). In order to do this, the analysis describes the author’s reaction to the exclusive use of the standard variety of European Portuguese in the literary domain, with particular attention to the utopian attempt to reduce the Brazilian diglossic relationship through the use of typical features of the emerging Brazilian grammar in literary writing, both in dialogues and in narration and descriptionO presente trabalho pretende questionar a posição de Mário de Andrade em relação à especificidade do português brasileiro (PB) através da análise das anotações em textos avulsos conhecidos como A Gramatiquinha da fala brasileira, que, recentemente, recebeu uma edição comemorativa do Instituto Guimarães Rosa (Fundação Alexandre de Gusmão, 2022), organizada por Aline Novais de Almeida.

The aim of the present work is twofold. On one hand, the analysis will focus on the characteristics of Brazilian academic speech, basing on the videoverbetes of the Enciclopédia audiovisual de termos, conceitos e pesquisas em Análise do discurso e áreas afins, a web-mediated audiovisual project which collects the speeches of Brazilian scholars specialized in Discourse Analysis (and other areas), coordinated by Bethania Mariani of the Laboratório Arquivos do Sujeito of the Departamento de Ciências da Linguagem, da Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). On the other hand, the analysis will consider and describe the problems which may occur in the subtitling of this hybrid textual genre in Italian. Furthermore, the videoverbetes will be compared and contrasted with another hybrid text genre: the TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) talks, a web-mediated genre, which shares common features with the academic discourse

La diaspora brasiliana nella rielaborazione di finzione

In this paper we discuss Brazilian emigration towards Portugal by analysing its reworking in literary and cinematographic fiction. More specifically, we will consider the film Terra Estrangeira (1996) by Walter Salles Jr. and Daniela Thomas, the novel Estive em Lisboa e lembrei de você ( 2009) by Luiz Ruffato and its film transposition, directed by the Portuguese José Barahona in 2015. All these works depict the estrangement of the characters in the process of adaptation to the new reality, visible as socio-cultural discrimination and sociolinguistic stigmatization
