In vitro anticancer and apoptotic activity of edible mushroom Lepista nuda (Bull.) Cooke on leukemia and breast cancer compared with protocatechuic acid, paclitaxel and doxorubicin

147-152Macro fungi are used as food and for therapy for centuries. One such fungus Lepista nuda (Bull.) Cooke is reported to exhibit many biological activities while other species viz. Lepista inversa and L. sordida possess active substances. In this study, we prepared extractions depended on polarity increase from the edible mushroom Lepista nuda and studied its action on HL60 (leukemia) and MCF7 (breast cancer) cancer cell lines., We used PCA (protocatechuic acid), paclitaxel and doxorubicin as positive controls. Methanol extract was found effective on both cell lines. The extract showed fairly significant (IC50 ~15 mg/mL) of biologic activity compared with drugs protocatechuic acid, paclitaxel and doxorubicin against HL-60 cell line with regard to both proliferation and apoptotic effects (>%75)

The effects on crop water stress index(CWSI) and grain yields of sunflower plant (Helianthus annuus L.) of deficit irrigation applications

Bu araştırma Siirt iklim koşullarında damla sulama yöntemiyle kısıntılı sulama uygulamalarının ayçiçeği bitkisinde verim ve verim parametreleri ile bitki su stres indeksi üzerine etkilerini belirlemek amacıyla bir tarla çalışması olarak yapılmıştır. Araştırmada sulama konuları; sulama suyu ihtiyacının tam olarak karşılandığı (%100) (I100 ) kontrol konusu ve tam sulamadan %80 (I20), %60 (I40), %40 (I60) ve %20 (I80) oranında kısıntı yapılan dört sulama konusu ve hiç sulama suyu uygulanmayan I0 sulama konularından oluşturulmuştur. Yapılan istatistik analiz sonucunda verim ve verim parametreleri arasında istatistiksel olarak önemli düzeyde ilişkiler saptanmıştır. Sulama konularının verim ve verim bileşenleri üzerine etkisi %1 düzeyinde önemli bulunmuştur. Uygulanan su kısıntısına ve iklim şartlarına bağlı olarak, ayçiçeği bitkisinin bitki su tüketimi, bitki su stres indeksi, klorofil ve verim değerleri önemli ölçüde etkilenmiştir. Vejetasyon süresi boyunca en yüksek CWSI (Bitki Su Stres Indeksi) değeri I0 sulama konusunda 0.39 ve en düşük CWSI değeri tam sulanan I100 sulama konusunda 0.19 olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada ayçiçeği dane veriminin düşmeye başladığı, sulamadan önceki infrared termometre gözlemlerinden belirlenen eşik CWSI değeri 0.29 olarak belirlenmiştir. Yapılan bu çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre Siirt'te ayçiçeğinde kısıntılı sulama yapılması önerilmemekte veya kısıntı yapma zorunluluğu olduğu takdirde ise bunun vejetatif gelişme döneminde (çiçeklenme öncesinde) maksimum %20 oranında yapılması önerilmektedir

New horizons on architecture: Creating the future while conserving the past on historical Peninsula, Istanbul

Historical Peninsula is not only the historical center, but also it is the commercial center of ancient Istanbul. Four major empires had been ruled from this magnificent point, with a unique Bosporus view. It is also an open air museum with various historical sites and buildings, such as Suleymaniye Mosque, Topkapi Palace, etc. Thus, the site is chosen for an architectural search on new forms and concepts on an existed historical area while preserving the historical heritage and learning the details of the project management by 14 students of the Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture of Yildiz Technical University, The Design Studio 4 has been searched to find the best places and related architectural concepts to create new architectural forms on Historical Peninsula according to the modern project management rules during the winter semester of 2013-2014 educational year. During the semester an atmosphere of professional design office was created to let the project group to understand and to fell the details and necessities of the project management on the real architectural field. Thus the paper will have the long process of the Design Studio 4, with 14 different location and concept proposal projects to Historical Peninsula

From Indian Convoy (Introducing Ashub Mazandarani and his Divan)Mohammad-Taqi JahaniAli GuzelyuzNihat DegirmenciThe widespread immigration of Iranian poets to India in the Safavid era took placefor a variety of reasons, including the lack of attention of the kings, the loss ofsupporters and enthusiasts of poetry, the welcoming of Indian kings, and the hope toget position. These immigrants developed a new style of poetry that became popularin Indian style.Mulla Mohammad Hossein Ashub Mazandarani was one of the poets who wentto India, where he met Zafar Khan Hassan Torbati and his comrade, Ibrahim Khan.His Divan include odes and verses, sonnets and quatrains. The only copy of thiswork is kept in the library of Nuruosmaniyeh of Turkey. With study and researchinto his poems, it is determined that he is one of the first group of Indian style poets(poets who continued the tradition of earlier poets) and has been very influential inthe writing of his poems of Khorasani and Iraqi style poets.In this paper, we have investigated and analyzed his Divan and extraction of hislinguistic, intellectual, and literary attributes in addition to introducing AshubMazandarani in order to identify this poet’s position among the poets of this style.Keywords: Eleventh century poetry, Indian style, Ashub Mazandarani, manuscriptcorrection
