Evaluation of herbicidal potential of commercial herbicides in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivation
A field experiment was conducted in Kanan region, province of Diyala, Iraq during the winter season 2016-2017 to screen herbicides for wheat cultivation. Six herbicides viz., Salix, Cronus, Pallas, Granstar, Topic and Atlantis were sprayed as post-emergence with second irrigation 54 days after crop sowing. Wheat growth parameters viz Crop height, Spike length and number of grains per spike were a higher in Granstar&Topic (105.2 cm, 12.6 cm, 51.4) respectively, 1000 grain weight were noted with Atlantis (40.9 g). followed by Granstar&Topic (39.2 g), Number of plants / m2 was a higher in Atlantis (430), Grain yield g \ acre was significantly increased in Granstar&Topic (1848 g) weeds growth parameters like Number of weeds / m2, Dry weight of weeds g, Weed control % and Weeds inhibition % were lower in Salix&cronos (0.0,0.0 g,100%,100%) respectively
Apoptotic mechanism of lantadene A from lantana camara leaves against prostatic cancer cells
Lantadene A (LA) which is one of the major pentacyclic triterpenoids in Lantana camara leaves was reported to exhibit anticancer property. However, the detail mechanism of LA inhibition against prostate cancer cells is still remained unknown. Hence, this study aimed to extract LA which was then used to treat LNCaP cells for the prediction of its apoptotic mechanism. A serial of separation techniques including maceration, solvent partition, crystallization and column chromatography was applied to recover LA. Approximately, 0.45%w/w LA was obtained from the plant leaves with 87.16% purity. The results found that the viability of LNCaP cells decreased with the increase of LA concentration with the IC50 of 208.4 μg/mL. High content screening showed the nucleuses of intact cells were started to collapse at the LA concentration more than 12.5 μg/mL, whereas the breakage of mitochondrial membrane was observed together with the release cytochrome C into cytosols. The activities of caspases -3/7 and -9 was found to increase in a dose dependent manner. Cell cycle arrest was happened during the (G0/G1) phase at the concentration of LA more than 50 μg/mL. As a conclusion, LA was effective to inhibit the growth of LNCaP cells without any cytotoxic effects to RWPE-1 cells. The inhibitory action of LA followed the intrinsic pathway of mitochondria dependent mechanism

The present study aimed to investigate the degree of compatibility between statistical
significance and practical significance in educational master’s theses in Omani universities
(Sultan Qaboos University, University of Nizwa, Dhofar University and Sohar University),
during 1998-2018.The total population (1895) and a random sample of (628) master's Theses
was selected, which is (33.14%) from all universities, and the researcher designed a tool to
collect data for the statistical tests that were included in this study, which are t tests, analysis of
variance tests, Pearson correlation coefficient and regression coefficient.
The results concluded that there is a positive statistically significant relationship
between the statistical significance the levels of practical significance, in all statistical tests.
Also (26.5%) of the master’s theses decisions at Omani universities may be inaccurate and
unreliable. The results of the study showed that the most Master's Thesis that examined the
relationship between the variables at Omani universities have occurred in the first type of error
(α), and the results indicated a weakness in the design used to calculate regression coefficients
in master's theses at Sultan Qaboos University and Nizwa University
An Overview Of Healthcare Administrative, Responsibility With The Optometrist, Nursing And Public Health Settings
A significant amount of resources will be required for large-scale public awareness initiatives about eye and vision health. These efforts will also require a presence from the federal government as well as coordination with a wide range of partners from both the public and commercial sectors. In general, the public awareness campaigns that are the most successful are those that are vast in scope and involve multiple facets. These campaigns typically involve a variety of outreach activities, stakeholders and sponsors, instructional materials, messaging, and media platforms. The responsibility that the healthcare administrator has with regard to the optometry, nursing, and public health sectors was demonstrated throughout this. Nursing in public health is a broad profession with a lack of hard and fast defined boundaries. The public health nurse does not engage in "hands on" nursing; rather, she is concerned with the prevention of illness, damage, or disability, as well as the promotion of health awareness and wellness
Impact of opioid-free analgesia on pain severity and patient satisfaction after discharge from surgery: multispecialty, prospective cohort study in 25 countries
Background: Balancing opioid stewardship and the need for adequate analgesia following discharge after surgery is challenging. This study aimed to compare the outcomes for patients discharged with opioid versus opioid-free analgesia after common surgical procedures. Methods: This international, multicentre, prospective cohort study collected data from patients undergoing common acute and elective general surgical, urological, gynaecological, and orthopaedic procedures. The primary outcomes were patient-reported time in severe pain measured on a numerical analogue scale from 0 to 100% and patient-reported satisfaction with pain relief during the first week following discharge. Data were collected by in-hospital chart review and patient telephone interview 1 week after discharge. Results: The study recruited 4273 patients from 144 centres in 25 countries; 1311 patients (30.7%) were prescribed opioid analgesia at discharge. Patients reported being in severe pain for 10 (i.q.r. 1-30)% of the first week after discharge and rated satisfaction with analgesia as 90 (i.q.r. 80-100) of 100. After adjustment for confounders, opioid analgesia on discharge was independently associated with increased pain severity (risk ratio 1.52, 95% c.i. 1.31 to 1.76; P < 0.001) and re-presentation to healthcare providers owing to side-effects of medication (OR 2.38, 95% c.i. 1.36 to 4.17; P = 0.004), but not with satisfaction with analgesia (beta coefficient 0.92, 95% c.i. -1.52 to 3.36; P = 0.468) compared with opioid-free analgesia. Although opioid prescribing varied greatly between high-income and low- and middle-income countries, patient-reported outcomes did not. Conclusion: Opioid analgesia prescription on surgical discharge is associated with a higher risk of re-presentation owing to side-effects of medication and increased patient-reported pain, but not with changes in patient-reported satisfaction. Opioid-free discharge analgesia should be adopted routinely

Evaluating Biological Properties of Stingless Bee Propolis
The aim of the present study was to determine the content of phenolics, flavonoids and tannins, as well as the biological functions of propolis extracts from the stingless bee (Heterotrigona itama). The raw propolis was extracted via maceration with ultrasonic pretreatment in 100% water and 20% ethanol. The yield of ethanolic propolis extracts was about 1% higher than its aqueous counterpart. The colorimetric assays showed that the ethanolic propolis extract had about two times higher phenolics (17.043 mg GAE/g) and tannins (5.411 mg GAE/g), and four times higher flavonoids (0.83 mg QE/g). The higher phenolic content had enhanced the antiradical and antibacterial capacities of the ethanolic extract. The propolis extracts significantly exhibited higher antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus) than gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa). However, aqueous extract was found to have a higher anticancer property based on the viability of lung cancer cells. No cytotoxic effect was observed on normal lung cells as the cell viability was maintained >50%, even the concentration of propolis extracts were increased up to 800 µg/mL. Different chemical compositions of propolis extract would show different bioactivities depending upon the individual applications. The high content of phenolics suggests that the propolis extract could be a natural source of bioactive ingredients for the development of innovative and functional foods
Solvent Fractionation and Acetone Precipitation for Crude Saponins from Eurycoma longifolia Extract
Eurycoma longifolia is a popular folk medicine in South East Asia. This study was focused on saccharide-containing compounds including saponins, mainly because of their medical potentials. Different organic solvents such as ethyl acetate, butanol, and chloroform were used to fractionate the phytochemical groups, which were consequently precipitated in cold acetone. Solvent fractionation was found to increase the total saponin content based on colorimetric assay using vanillin and sulfuric acid. Ethyl acetate fraction and its precipitate were showed to have the highest crude saponins after acetone precipitation. The samples were shown to have anti-proliferative activity comparable with tamoxifen (IC50 = 110.6 µg/mL) against human breast cancer cells. The anti-proliferative activities of the samples were significantly improved from crude extract (IC50 = 616.3 µg/mL) to ethyl acetate fraction (IC50 = 185.4 µg/mL) and its precipitate (IC50 = 153.4 µg/mL). LC-DAD-MS/MS analysis revealed that the saccharide-containing compounds such as m/z 497, 610, 723, 836, and 949 were abundant in the samples, and they could be ionized in negative ion mode. The compounds consisted of 226 amu monomers with UV-absorbing property at 254 nm, and were tentatively identified as formylated hexoses. To conclude, solvent fractionation and acetone precipitation could produce saccharide-containing compounds including saponins with higher anti-proliferative activity than crude extract against MCF-7 cells. This is the first study to use non-toxic solvents for fractionation of bioactive compounds from highly complex plant extract of E. longifolia
