Electronic Service Quality Gaps in the Australian Wine Industry

    Get PDF
PDF attached with permission from authorsThe wine industry is very important in Australia and the advent of e-commerce has presented the industry with new challenges. This is especially so for smaller wineries in order to reach a wider audience and secure a competitive advantage. The old adage ‘the customer is always right’ has never been more important, as the foundation stone upon which electronic service quality (e-SQ) lies is customer requirements. Zeithaml, Parasuraman, and Malhotra, (2002) claim that the elimination of e-SQ gaps will lead to customer satisfaction which results in increased perceived e-SQ, value, purchases and repurchases. This paper proposes a formal mathematical definition for e-SQ gaps and a statistical method of testing for the existence of such gaps. This method was applied to a study of Australian winery customers, managers, and websites and it was found that e-SQ gaps did exist. Hence, Australian wineries are not meeting customer website requirements. Further research is being conducted to determine the extent of, and contributing factors to, these e-SQ gaps.Robyn Davidson and Joan Cooperhttp://ecom.fov.uni-mb.si/ECOMFrames.nsf/pages/bled200

Effective Encodings of Constraint Programming Models to SMT

Satisfiability Modulo Theories (SMT) is a well-established methodology that generalises propositional satisfiability (SAT) by adding support for a variety of theories such as integer arithmetic and bit-vector operations. SMT solvers have made rapid progress in recent years. In part, the efficiency of modern SMT solvers derives from the use of specialised decision procedures for each theory. In this paper we explore how the Essence Prime constraint modelling language can be translated to the standard SMT-LIB language. We target four theories: bit-vectors (QF_BV), linear integer arithmetic (QF_LIA), non-linear integer arithmetic (QF_NIA), and integer difference logic (QF_IDL). The encodings are implemented in the constraint modelling tool Savile Row. In an extensive set of experiments, we compare our encodings for the four theories, showing some notable differences and complementary strengths. We also compare our new encodings to the existing work targeting SMT and SAT, and to a well-established learning CP solver. Our two proposed encodings targeting the theory of bit-vectors (QF_BV) both substantially outperform earlier work on encoding to QF_BV on a large and diverse set of problem classes

Geochemical assessment of the degree of isolation of edge-of-aquifer groundwater along a fringe of the southern High Plains Aquifer, USA

© 2019, The Author(s). The edge of regional aquifers can be complex hydrodynamic systems with unique flow dynamics, water quality, and continuity relationships with the main aquifer system. A site near the southwestern margin of the High Plains Aquifer (USA) was investigated to characterize the local hydrogeology and its relationship with the regional aquifer system. Measurements of tritium, ion concentrations, oxygen and hydrogen isotopes, and hydraulic heads documented (1) a discontinuous saturated zone, (2) no inflow to the study area from the regional aquifer, (3) focused recharge beneath playas with limited local mixing between pockets of saturation, (4) outflow orthogonal to the regional aquifer flow direction, (5) localized multi-year reversals in flow direction following high precipitation events, and (6) a magnified influence of the paleo-erosional surface of the basement rock (Dockum Group) on groundwater isolation and flow direction. In isolated areas, groundwater can be trapped on decadal time scales by depressions in the Dockum, or by recharge events that periodically reverse groundwater gradients

AN \u3ci\u3eIN VITRO\u3c/i\u3e MICRO-VOLUME PROCEDURE FOR RAPID MEASUREMENT OF ERYTHROCYTIC HEXOSE MONOPHOSPHATE SHUNT ACTIVITY

    Get PDF
    I. A radiometric micro-volume procedure for measurement of erythrocytic hexose monophosphate shunt (HMS) activity in intact cells in vitro is described. 2.The procedure is rapid, allowing 200 individual HMS determinations in a single experiment of 5 hr duration. 3. The procedure is reproducible, yielding HMS activity means insignificantly different (P \u3e 0.05) between replicate experiments. 4. A profile of sodium nitrite-induced HMS stimulation is reported: HMS was elevated 2-fold (P \u3c 0.001) between zero and 2.5mM NaN02; HMS elevation was more distinct (7-fold) between 2.5 and 5.0mM NaNO2; maximum activity (22-fold) was observed between 10 and 20mM NaN02; \u3e 20mM NaNO2 caused significant (P \u3c 0.001) diminution of HMS; glucose carbon recycling through the HMS occurred only with \u3e 2.5mM NaNO2 where this process contributed :::; 16% to total HMS activity

Higgs mass implications on the stability of the electroweak vacuum

We update instability and metastability bounds of the Standard Model electroweak vacuum in view of the recent ATLAS and CMS Higgs results. For a Higgs mass in the range 124--126 GeV, and for the current central values of the top mass and strong coupling constant, the Higgs potential develops an instability around 101110^{11} GeV, with a lifetime much longer than the age of the Universe. However, taking into account theoretical and experimental errors, stability up to the Planck scale cannot be excluded. Stability at finite temperature implies an upper bound on the reheat temperature after inflation, which depends critically on the precise values of the Higgs and top masses. A Higgs mass in the range 124--126 GeV is compatible with very high values of the reheating temperature, without conflict with mechanisms of baryogenesis such as leptogenesis. We derive an upper bound on the mass of heavy right-handed neutrinos by requiring that their Yukawa couplings do not destabilize the Higgs potential.Comment: 14 pages, 8 figure

Understanding and improving transitions of older people: a user and carer centred approach

    Get PDF
This project focuses on older people and their transition between different services and agencies in health and social care. Research studies and reports from inspectors have shown that older people experience many problems before, during and after transitions. This project will be conducted in four local areas and has two key aims. First, it will explore what information, support and care is needed by older people (and their carers) as they go through a transition. Second, the project team will work with people and organisations in the four local areas to put the findings into practice. It is increasingly recognised that older people should be involved in improving the quality of services for their use. In this project, older people who are service users and carers will be recruited, trained and supported to participate in the research. They will work with academic researchers to conduct in-depth interviews in order to find out about older people's experiences of a recent care transition. Analysis of the data and presentation of the findings will be carried out jointly by academic and user/carer researchers. The project team will feed back the findings of the interviews in each of the local areas. It will also provide support to people and organisations in these areas to put the findings into practice, in order to improve transitions for older people. In each area, a local advisory group, which include service users and carers, will lead this process. The findings from the in-depth interviews and the local implementation activities will be shared with NHS, social care and other organisations nationally
