    Shoulder instability following an anterior shoulder dislocation is common in active adolescent populations and can have negative long-term impacts on activities of daily living and competitive physical activities. Historically, shoulder instability following anterior shoulder dislocation is treated surgically due to the high risk of recurrent instability. However, conservative treatments may be appropriate in certain adolescent populations due to skeletal immaturity.     Parameterized Model-Checking for Timed-Systems with Conjunctive Guards (Extended Version)

    In this work we extend the Emerson and Kahlon's cutoff theorems for process skeletons with conjunctive guards to Parameterized Networks of Timed Automata, i.e. systems obtained by an \emph{apriori} unknown number of Timed Automata instantiated from a finite set U1,…,UnU_1, \dots, U_n of Timed Automata templates. In this way we aim at giving a tool to universally verify software systems where an unknown number of software components (i.e. processes) interact with continuous time temporal constraints. It is often the case, indeed, that distributed algorithms show an heterogeneous nature, combining dynamic aspects with real-time aspects. In the paper we will also show how to model check a protocol that uses special variables storing identifiers of the participating processes (i.e. PIDs) in Timed Automata with conjunctive guards. This is non-trivial, since solutions to the parameterized verification problem often relies on the processes to be symmetric, i.e. indistinguishable. On the other side, many popular distributed algorithms make use of PIDs and thus cannot directly apply those solutions

    The Neuroscience Information Framework: A Data and Knowledge Environment for Neuroscience

    With support from the Institutes and Centers forming the NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research, we have designed and implemented a new initiative for integrating access to and use of Web-based neuroscience resources: the Neuroscience Information Framework. The Framework arises from the expressed need of the neuroscience community for neuroinformatic tools and resources to aid scientific inquiry, builds upon prior development of neuroinformatics by the Human Brain Project and others, and directly derives from the Society for Neuroscience’s Neuroscience Database Gateway. Partnered with the Society, its Neuroinformatics Committee, and volunteer consultant-collaborators, our multi-site consortium has developed: (1) a comprehensive, dynamic, inventory of Web-accessible neuroscience resources, (2) an extended and integrated terminology describing resources and contents, and (3) a framework accepting and aiding concept-based queries.     A five-year experience with the vasopressin analogue desmopressin acetate (DDAVP) for nocturnal enuresis is described in 59 children. The initial starting dose of 5 μg at bedtime is lower than that reported in other series.     Late widespread skeletal metastases from myxoid liposarcoma detected by MRI only

    Background Myxoid liposarcoma is the second most commonly occurring sub-type of liposarcomas. In contrast to other soft tissue sarcomas, it is known to have a tendency to spread toward extrapulmonary sites, such as soft tissues, retroperitoneum, and the peritoneal surface. Bony spread, however, is not as common. Case presentation We report an unusual case of diffuse skeletal metastases from myxoid liposarcoma occurring 13 years after treatment of the primary tumour in the left lower limb. The skeletal spread of the disease was demonstrated on MRI only after other imaging modalities (plain radiography, CT and TC99 bone scans) had failed to detect these metastases. Conclusion MRI is an extremely sensitive and specific screening tool in the detection of skeletal involvement in these types of sarcomas, and therefore, should be a part of the staging proces

    Analysis of mobility changes caused by COVID-19 in a context of moderate restrictions using data collected by mobile devices

    Since its inception, COVID-19 has changed several dynamics in society, both on a personal and professional level. Mobility was one of the most affected aspects, as a result of the necessary social distancing and preventive measures that had to be enacted by the various countries and which restricted, at various times, freedom of movement. The impact that COVID-19 had, and still has, on mobility is important to be understood so that the necessary measures can be taken in order to return to normality and, for example, not regress in the steps that were being taken in encouraging the use of public transport as a measure to combat the carbon footprint as well as traffic congestion in cities. This paper intends to analyze the reality of Spain and Portugal, in the period between May 10th and July 2nd, 2021, in which both countries had already finished restricting mobility measures. The study used data from Google Community Mobility Reports and was done by regions, taking into account the average age of inhabitants and the number of inhabitants in each region. The analysis focused on different categories of places such as retail and recreation, groceries and pharmacies, parks, transit stations, workplaces, and residential. One of the main conclusions of this study is the lower use of public transports for fear of a greater risk of infection. This could be a problem in the medium term if this trend continues. On the other hand, it is important to highlight a greater presence in parks after the end of the lockdown, which promotes healthy habits that combat problems such as overweight or obesity.     The Imprint of Galaxy Formation on X-ray Clusters

    It is widely believed that structure in the Universe evolves hierarchically, as primordial density fluctuations, amplified by gravity, collapse and merge to form progressively larger systems. The structure and evolution of X-ray clusters, however, seems at odds with this hierarchical scenario for structure formation. Poor clusters and groups, as well as most distant clusters detected to date, are substantially fainter than expected from the tight relations between luminosity, temperature and redshift predicted by these models. Here we show that these discrepancies arise because, near the centre, the entropy of the hot, diffuse intracluster medium (ICM) is higher thaachievablethroughgravitationalcollapse,indicatingsubstantialnon−gravitationalheatingoftheICM.Weestimatethisexcessentropyforthefirsttime,andarguethatitrepresentsarelicoftheenergeticwindsthroughwhichforminggalaxiespollutedtheICMwithmetals.Energetically,thisisonl achievable through gravitational collapse, indicating substantial non-gravitational heating of the ICM. We estimate this excess entropy for the first time, and argue that it represents a relic of the energetic winds through which forming galaxies polluted the ICM with metals. Energetically, this is onl possible if the ICM is heated at modest redshift (z \ltsim 2) but prior to cluster collapse, indicating that the formation of galaxies precedes that of clusters and that most clusters have been assembled very recently.Comment: 5 pages, plus 2 postscript figures (one in colour), accepted for publication in Natur
