SemEval 2017 Task 10: ScienceIE - Extracting Keyphrases and Relations from Scientific Publications

    Get PDF
We describe the SemEval task of extracting keyphrases and relations between them from scientific documents, which is crucial for understanding which publications describe which processes, tasks and materials. Although this was a new task, we had a total of 26 submissions across 3 evaluation scenarios. We expect the task and the findings reported in this paper to be relevant for researchers working on understanding scientific content, as well as the broader knowledge base population and information extraction communities

objective The main objective of the present study is to isolate yeasts from different environmental sources to investigate their potential probiotic characteristics. Methods Appropriate in vitro assays has been conducted to examine their probiotic potentiality, such as acid and bile salt tolerance, temperature resistance, stimulated GIT tolerance, cell adhesion and cholesterol removal. All the yeast isolates were tested under in vitro conditions. Results In the present study, 20 yeast species have been isolated from different sources, screened and their desirable probiotic properties viz. pH tolerance, bile salt tolerance and thermo-tolerance have been evaluated. Screened yeast isolates treated with gastric juices showed increased survival rate above 60%. A further in vitro study investigates cholesterol removal and it showed increased cholesterol removal rate up to 92%. Exopolysaccharide production was estimated for selected yeast isolates and applications are under investigation. Conclusion Among 20 yeast isolates, 5 isolates showed increased growth under stress tolerance. It can be concluded that the screened yeast isolates LM, MR, GOI, GII2 and WI can serve as promising probiotics in various fields of food industry.Key words:  Acid tolerance; bile tolerance, cholesterol removal, probiotics, yeast

Objective The objective of the present study was to identify the potential yeast isolates at themolecular level and evaluate their probiotic characteristics.MethodsMolecular characterization was done for 5 potential probiotic yeast strains. In vitro assays have been conducted to evaluate the probiotic properties such as NaCl tolerance, autoaggregation and co-aggregation. Haemolyticactivity, urease activity and cytotoxicity tests were carried out for safety assay during the characterization of yeast strains.ResultsIn this study, the yeast strains viz. LM,MR,GOI,GII2and WI were identified at molecular level and named as Yarrowialipolytica VIT-MN01, Kluyveromyces lactis VIT-MN02, Lipomyces starkeyi VIT-MN03, Saccharomycopsis fibuligera VIT-MN04, Brettanomyces custersianus VIT-MN05 respectively. Maximum autoaggregation and coaggregationwere noted in case of Lipomyces starkeyi VIT-MN03, Saccharomycopsis fibuligeraVIT-MN04, and Brettanomyces custersianus VIT-MN05. In vitro toxicity assay was performed and all the yeast strains showednon-toxic nature.ConclusionFive yeast strains have been studied for their probiotic characteristics and identified at molecular level. Out offive yeast strains, three strains showed maximum adhesion ability, which is a prerequisite for colonization and protection of gastrointestinal tract. All the yeast strains are validated as a safe bioresources because of their non - hemolytic activities and non-production of urease. It can be concluded that the identified yeast strainscan serve as promising probiotics in various fields offood industry

Employee Performance Appraisal: Key to Success for Organizational Growth

All organizations use performance appraisal for several purposes in a systematic way using multifarious techniques and tools to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of their employees in relation to certain pre-established criteria and organizational goal as objectively as possible to ultimately know whether the organization is moving towards its predetermined goals. .. Performance Appraisal ensures the best utilization of employee talent because it helps the organization to reward the employees having better abilities and rectify the wrong placement which in turns improves the human resource quality responsible for overall growth of the organization. The inability of organization to adopt a sound system of performance appraisal will be a hindrance to put an optimum use of the human resource in this era of globalization to attain the competitive advantage over others. The matter of fact is that Management assesses the performance of employees to maintain organizational control and disburse rewards and punishments to keep them on the track of organizational growt

DEVELOPMENT OF QUALITY CONTROL PARAMETERS FOR STANDARDIZATION OF A NOVELMUCILAGE OBTAINED FROM OKRA (ABELMOSCHUS ESCULENTUS (L.) MOENCH) FRUIT

Objective: The main objective was to focus on qualitative and quantitative analysis of isolated okra mucilage by High-performance Thin Layer Chromatography to set up the quality control parameters for the isolated mucilage. Methods: High-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) were applied for the identification of components present in methanolic and ethanolic fruit extract of okra at 254 nm and 356 nm. Quantitative analysis of amino acid ascorbic acid and total polyphenol content was determined. Results: The results showed that the yield percentage for methanolic and ethanolic fruit extract of the okra fruit mucilage was found to be 13.5 and12.5% respectively. HPTLC determination of methanolic and ethanolic okra fruit extract showed the presence of 8 components with Rf values in the range of 0.14 to 0.62 and 0.14 to 0.54 respectively when detected at wavelengths 254 nm and at 356 nm. The total amino acid in okra fruit methanolic extract was found to be 11.45%w/w. The ascorbic acid content in methanolic okra fruit extract and ethanolic okra fruit extract was found to be 0.24 %w/w and 0.18% w/w respectively. The total phenolic contents (tannic acid equivalents, mg/g) in the methanolic and ethanolic okra fruit extracts were calculated to be 4.6 % w/wand 5.3% w/w respectively. Conclusion: The data revealed dual benefits like it can act as a potential novel functional ingredient with health-promoting application due to the presence of ascorbic acid and total phenolics contents and at the same time the data provided guidelines for quality control parameters for the isolated okra frui

As per the global digital report, 52.9% of the world population is using the internet, and 42% of the world population is actively using e-commerce, banking, and other online applications. Web servicesare software components accessed using networked communications and provide services to end users. Software developers provide a high quality of web service. To meet the demands of user requirements, it is necessary for a developer to ensure quality architecture and quality of services. To meet the demands of user measure service quality by the ranking of web services, in this paper, we analyzed QWS datasetand found important parameters are best practices, successability, availability, response time, reliability and throughput, and compliance. We have used various data mining techniques and conductedexperiments to classify QWS data set into four categorical values as class1, 2, 3, and 4. The results are compared with various techniques random forest, artificial neural network, J48 decision tree, extremegradient boosting, K-nearest neighbor, and support vector machine. Multiple classifiers analyzed, and it was observed that the classifier technique eXtreme gradient boosting got the maximum accuracy of98.44%, and random forest got the accuracy of 98.13%. In future, we can extend the quality of web service for mixed attributes

Study of Thermo-Sensitive In-Situ Gels for Ocular Delivery

    Get PDF
The aim of the present study was the development of thermo-sensitive in-situ gels for in-vitro evaluation of ophthalmic delivery systems of ketorolac tromethamine (KT), based on methylcellulose (MC) in combination with hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose (HPMC). The gel temperature of 1% MC solution was observed at 60°C. It was found that 6% oral rehydration salt without dextrose (ORS) was capable to reduce the gel temperature below physiological temperature. HPMC was added to increase viscosity and drug release time. The results indicated a large increase in viscosity at 37°C with addition of HPMC whch provided sustained release of the drug over a 4h period. From in-vitro release studies, it could be concluded that the developed systems were thus a better alternative to conventional eye drops
