    Growth trends and forecasting of fish production in Assam, India using ARIMA model

    Fish is an essential component of the diet of the most populace in Assam and fish farming has been one of the sources of livelihood in rural areas. Assam ranks first in fish production among North-eastern states of India. However, fish production is not sufficient to meet the demand despite having vast aquatic resources in the state. The present study was undertaken to determine the decadal growth of fish production in the state using the compound growth rate. The study also attempted modeling and forecasting of fish production in Assam using Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) methodology. For the present study, time-series data on fish production in Assam from 1980-81 to 2018-19 was obtained from the Directorate of Fisheries, Government of Assam. Data for the period 1980-81 to 2014-15 was utilized to build an ARIMA model and validated through the remaining data from 2015-16 to 2018-19. The best suitable model for the state’s fish production was ARIMA (1,1,0) based on the values of the model selection criterion. The actual fish production and forecast values using a fitted model were in close agreement. The out-of-sample forecast values of fish production in the state for the subsequent years 2019-20 to 2022-23 showed an increasing trend from 336.97 to 358.21 thousand metric tonnes. Considering the vast aquatic resources in the state, the study calls for serious attention by policymakers, researchers, and developmental agencies for harnessing the potential of fisheries resources for making the North-east region self-sufficient in fish production as a whole and Assam in particular.

    A CASE REPORT ON WILSON’S DISEASE: A RARE CLINICAL CONDITION OF COPPER DEPOSITION IN LIVER

    Wilson’s disease is a rare inherited disorder and is characterized by the accumulation of copper in various tissues and also in organs like the liver, brain, kidneys and cornea. Symptoms in paediatrics characteristically appear with hepatic involvement. In this case we have discussed about an eleven-year-old male child, who was presented to the Paediatric department in a tertiary care hospital with chief complaints of yellowish discoloration of eyes, dark coloured urine and high grade fever. Due to the accumulation of copper there were decreased levels of ceruloplasmin and there was an increased 24 hour urinary copper, which confirms the Wilson’s disease in this child. Child was treated with Cephalosporin antibiotics, vitamins, laxative, and bile acid sequestrants. Child showed gradual improvement in clinical symptoms and got discharged without any further event. Quality of evidence was assessed according to the GRADE system. Early diagnosis and management helped to prevent serious complications

Cutaneous lesions are relatively uncommon manifestations of TB, occurring in only 1 to 2 percent of all infected patients.  Cutaneous tuberculosis can be acquired either exogenously or endogenously .We present here a case of primary cutaneous tuberculosis with reactive cervical lymphadenopathy.  A high index of suspicion is necessary for prompt diagnosis and treatment

    Texture Synthesis Guided Deep Hashing for Texture Image Retrieval

    With the large-scale explosion of images and videos over the internet, efficient hashing methods have been developed to facilitate memory and time efficient retrieval of similar images. However, none of the existing works uses hashing to address texture image retrieval mostly because of the lack of sufficiently large texture image databases. Our work addresses this problem by developing a novel deep learning architecture that generates binary hash codes for input texture images. For this, we first pre-train a Texture Synthesis Network (TSN) which takes a texture patch as input and outputs an enlarged view of the texture by injecting newer texture content. Thus it signifies that the TSN encodes the learnt texture specific information in its intermediate layers. In the next stage, a second network gathers the multi-scale feature representations from the TSN's intermediate layers using channel-wise attention, combines them in a progressive manner to a dense continuous representation which is finally converted into a binary hash code with the help of individual and pairwise label information. The new enlarged texture patches also help in data augmentation to alleviate the problem of insufficient texture data and are used to train the second stage of the network.     Hadamard NMR spectroscopy for two-dimensional quantum information processing and parallel search algorithms

    Hadamard spectroscopy has earlier been used to speed-up multi-dimensional NMR experiments. In this work we speed-up the two-dimensional quantum computing scheme, by using Hadamard spectroscopy in the indirect dimension, resulting in a scheme which is faster and requires the Fourier transformation only in the direct dimension. Two and three qubit quantum gates are implemented with an extra observer qubit. We also use one-dimensional Hadamard spectroscopy for binary information storage by spatial encoding and implementation of a parallel search algorithm.Comment: 28 pages, 10 figures.
