An Enterprise Architecture Framework to organize Model Repositories

Abstract. Models are a valuable knowledge asset for an enterprise. An enterprise model repository can improve sharing of enterprise knowledge and thus can exploit the use of the knowledge for various applications. In this work we present a framework for the organisation of enterprise models. The framework was derived from enterprise architecture frameworks. It distinguishes three dimensions: aspect, perspective, and modelling language family. For each of these dimensions we derive possible values. The framework can be used for enterprise repositories but also for knowledge exchange in a community as proposed by the Open Model Initiative

Proceso de inclusión en la vida cotidiana a través de la experiencia y práctica del deporte adaptada para personas en situación de discapacidad

Tesis (Terapeuta Ocupacional)El presente estudio propone comprender de qué manera las personas en situación de discapacidad física, que han participado en la práctica de algún deporte adaptado, enfrentan los procesos de inclusión en su vida cotidiana. Esto, por medio de técnicas cualitativas de investigación como son la observación y entrevista semiestructurada a cuatro personas adultas involucradas en la experiencia del deporte adaptado. Facilitando así un análisis e interpretación de lo manifestado por medio de sus discursos, como son la importancia de las relaciones sociales para el proceso de inclusión, las cuales son posibles de generar en un contexto de deporte adaptado, junto al importante elemento motivacional que su práctica provoca en ellos. Además, se observa la importancia de la independencia y autonomía adquirida por medio de la práctica del deporte adaptado, impactando en la realización de las actividades y cumplimiento de roles en la vida cotidiana

Challenges of neuropathic pain:focus on diabetic neuropathy

Neuropathic pain is a frequent condition caused by a lesion or disease of the central or peripheral somatosensory nervous system. A frequent cause of peripheral neuropathic pain is diabetic neuropathy. Its complex pathophysiology is not yet fully elucidated, which contributes to underassessment and undertreatment. A mechanism-based treatment of painful diabetic neuropathy is challenging but phenotype-based stratification might be a way to develop individualized therapeutic concepts. Our goal is to review current knowledge of the pathophysiology of peripheral neuropathic pain, particularly painful diabetic neuropathy. We discuss state-of-the-art clinical assessment, validity of diagnostic and screening tools, and recommendations for the management of diabetic neuropathic pain including approaches towards personalized pain management. We also propose a research agenda for translational research including patient stratification for clinical trials and improved preclinical models in relation to current knowledge of underlying mechanisms

Neuer Anlauf für die Eurozone: drei Maßnahmen würden kurzfristige Risiken mildern und die Chance auf eine notwendige Vertragsreform verbessern

Auch wenn sich die Krise in der Eurozone vordergründig beruhigt hat, bestehen nach wie vor große Risiken im Bereich der Staatsfinanzen, im Bankensektor und durch soziale und politische Instabilitäten. Die neue Bundesregierung sollte hierauf zunächst mit drei Initiativen reagieren. Erster Schritt wäre eine Neuausrichtung der deutschen Wirtschaftspolitik. Mehr Investitionen, eine Liberalisierung des Dienstleistungssektors sowie eine Stärkung der grenzüberschreitenden Arbeitskräftemobilität würden der deutschen Wirtschaft nutzen und den Abbau makroökonomischer Ungleichgewichte in der Eurozone fördern. Zweitens sollte die Bundesregierung einer Bankenunion mit einem zentralen Abwicklungsmechanismus zustimmen, der eine Konsolidierung des europäischen Bankensystems erlaubt und die Fragmentierung im europäischen Finanzmarkt umkehren könnte. Drittens würden eine Wachstumsinitiative und ein europäischer Jugendbildungsfonds einer »verlorenen Generation« Perspektiven eröffnen. Dieses Maßnahmenbündel würde die Voraussetzungen für eine spätere, politische Vertiefung der Eurozone verbessern: Demokratisch legitimierte Entscheidungsstrukturen, die nur über eine Vertragsreform umzusetzen sind, sollten den in der Krise erstarkten Intergouvernementalismus ablösen. The Computer as a “Partner” in Institutional Talk

Für kompetente Mitglieder der Gesellschaft ist die Inkorporierung von Technologien in alltägliche Handlungsvollzüge etwas Selbstverständliches. Die Arbeit „mit“ der Technologie wird routinemäßig erledigt und nur in seltenen Fällen thematisiert. Als Konversationsanalytiker interessiert uns, worin diese Arbeit besteht und welche systematischen Prozeduren bei ihr zur Anwendung gelangen. Auf der Basis von 52 (Beratungs-) Gesprächen, die in Jobcentern als Tondokument aufgezeichnet wurden, können wir zeigen, dass neben der Arbeit „mit“ dem PC Interaktionsarbeit anfällt, wenn sich die Teilnehmer in Gesprächen auf den PC beziehen, und dass es verschiedene Variationen dieser Orientierung am Computer gibt. Manchmal wird der PC in den Hintergrund der Interaktion verschoben und erhält nur minimale Aufmerksamkeit, während sich die Vertreter des Jobcenters und ihre Klienten deutlich aneinander als Personen orientieren. In anderen Fällen entscheiden sich die Vertreter der Institution dafür, den PC gewissermaßen zu „animieren“, indem sie ihm z. B. Fragen stellen. In einer weiteren Variante wenden sich die Vertreter der Institution ausschließlich dem PC zu, während die Klienten in der Warteschleife gehalten werden. Auch Fälle einer aktiven Neutralisierung des PC lassen sich finden. Kompetente Gesellschaftsmitglieder beziehen sich also nicht nur auf Gegenstände (Computer) und zeigen sich diese wechselseitig an, sondern bedienen sich auch unterschiedlicher Modalitäten, um diese Gegenstände in die soziale Welt ihrer Begegnung einzuführen, wodurch  ich der Charakter ihrer Begegnung fundamental verändern kann.The incorporation of technologies in everyday activities is far from difficult for participants who are, in an ethnomethodological sense, competent members of society. Working “with” technology is a routine engagement. As conversation analysts we are interested in the systematic procedures which participants employ to make technological objects like computers part of an encounter and its social universe. The analysis of 52 (audio-taped) face-to-face consultations in what are termed Job Centers (public employment agencies in Germany) allows us to demonstrate the extent of interactional work that is to be completed if participants (have to) include the computer and work “with” it. Within our data, a variety of orientations toward the computer are evident. Sometimes the computer is moved to the background of the encounter and is given only minimal attention while Job Center official and client are clearly oriented toward each other as people. Conversely, the official may choose to involve the computer by asking it questions. In another variation of computer-aided consultation, the official devotes his or her attention to the computer exclusively while the client is effectively placed “on hold.” We also found cases in which the computer was actively neutralized by participants. Competent members of society not only orient themselves toward objects (e,g, computers) and display this orientation to one another, but also employ a variety of modalities to integrate these objects into the social world of their encounter. “This Graft-vs.-Host Disease Determines My Life. That's It.”—A Qualitative Analysis of the Experiences and Needs of Allogenic Hematopoietic Stem Cells Transplantation Survivors in Germany

Background: Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (alloHSCT) is the only curative treatment modality for many patients affected by hematologic malignancies. However, it can cause debilitating long-term effects. Understanding the impact of alloHSCT on all aspects of the patients' life is required for optimal survivorship management. Aim: To explore in-depth HSCT-survivors' experiences and needs post-transplant. Partners were included to provide further information on survivors' needs and how care could be improved in this area. Methods: We conducted semi-structured face-to-face and phone interviews with alloHSCT-survivors and their partners referred to a survivorship clinic in Germany. Theoretical sampling was used to recruit participants. Data were analyzed using framework analysis. Results: Thirty-two survivors (consent rate: 100%, response rate: 100%) and eighteen partners (consent rate: 84%, response rate: 72%) participated. Survivors were aged between 25 and 68 years (Median: 48, IQR: 25.3) and partners were aged between 26 and 64 years (Median: 54, IQR: 16, SD: 12.8). The themes emerging from the data involved survivors' needs included (i) the diversity of long-term treatment side-effects; and (ii) time post discharge as a dynamic process with individual peaks of burden. Survivors and their partners also suggested strategies for mitigating these unmet needs, i.e., (iii) transparent communication and patient empowerment; and (iv) improvement in continuity of care system and help with claiming social benefits as cornerstones of optimal survivorship care. Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is one of the first qualitative studies focused on the views of German alloHSCT-survivors on the long-term effects of alloHSCT and the first study integrating the view of their partners. Healthcare providers could better support survivors with managing their symptoms and adhering to their prescribed care by ensuring comprehensive, transparent communication that helps increase survivors' understanding and involvement in their care. Further efforts should be made to provide patient-centered, continuous survivorship care that involves additional support with navigating the healthcare and social service system. Intervention studies are required to test the effectiveness of the suggested strategies.Peer Reviewe
