    Operation reliability index for maintenance decision making in bridges

    Maintenance management developed by several approach to optimize cost recently. Meanwhile decision making during operation is difficult task for mangers to keep them safe as well as stakeholder demands satisfaction and costs with regard to resources limitation. This paper presents an approach for decision making process to select alternatives based on their costs. For this manner, the uncertainty of defect probability combine with other availability and performance features to find priority of maintenance equipment and their reliability. This multi-dimensional decision making do not deal with the essential imprecision of subjective judgment based on quantitative evaluation. To demonstrate the use and capability of the model, a case study is presented. In this case, results shows the quality value combined by delay as an effectiveness parameters (91.08) and then decision tree will complete it by risk and reliability factors

    Joint space-frequency block codes and signal alignment for heterogeneous networks

    In this paper, we propose a new diversity-oriented space-frequency block codes (SFBC) and signal alignment (SA) enabled physical network coding (PNC) method for the uplink of heterogeneous networks. The proposed joint Dual-SFBC with SA-PNC design substantially reduces interference and enables connecting a larger number of users when compared with methods adopting interference alignment (IA) or PNC. The main motivation behind the dual SFBC and SA-PNC design is that it allows the efficient coexistence of macro and small cells without any inter-system channel information requirements. Numerical results also verify that the proposed method outperforms the existing SA-PNC static method without any additional information exchange requirement between the two systems while achieving the main benefits of IA and SA-PNC coordinated methods recently proposed.publishe

    Development and demonstration of an HBIM framework for the preventive conservation of cultural heritage

    Building Information Modelling (BIM) methodology is becoming widespread with many potential uses, such as facility and asset management for new buildings. Recently, it has also been applied for the maintenance of built heritage, within the so-called Historical BIM (HBIM) field. A BIM model, empowered by detailed embedded information, is an excellent tool to monitor and infer on the behaviour, performance, and deterioration of heritage buildings, collecting and classifying diverse data that can co-exist in an asset model. However, three main issues must be tackled: lack of standardization, insufficient interoperability and inherent complexity of the information. It is essential to balance model’s geometrical and non-geometrical features, such as the level of detail accuracy and the quantity of linked information, to make the methodology cost-effective and hence more attractive for end-users. The present work focuses on the development of easy-to-implement strategy to report and monitor damage evolution over time. Standardization and simplification of the procedures are pursued by using Product Data Templates (PDTs) and focusing on interoperability of information through specific provisions of export/import definitions for Industry Foundation Classes (IFC).     Tracing the volatilomic fingerprint of the most popular Italian fortified wines

    The aim of the current study was to provide a useful platform to identify characteristic molecular markers related to the authenticity of Italian fortified wines. For this purpose, the volatilomic fingerprint of the most popular Italian fortified wines was established using headspace solid-phase microextraction combined with gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (HS-SPME/GC-MS). Several volatile organic compounds (VOCs), belonging with distinct chemical groups, were identified, ten of which are common to all the analyzed fortified Italian wines. Terpenoids were the most abundant chemical group in Campari bitter wines due to limonene’s high contribution to the total volatilomic fingerprint, whereas for Marsala wines, alcohols and esters were the most predominant chemical groups. The fortified Italian wines VOCs network demonstrated that the furanic compounds 2-furfural, ethyl furoate, and 5-methyl-2-furfural, constitute potential molecular markers of Marsala wines, while the terpenoids nerol, α-terpeniol, limonene, and menthone isomers, are characteristic of Vermouth wines. In addition, butanediol was detected only in Barolo wines, and β-phellandrene and β-myrcene only in Campari wines. The obtained data reveal an adequate tool to establish the authenticity and genuineness of Italian fortified wines, and at the same time constitute a valuable contribution to identify potential cases of fraud or adulteration to which they are subject, due to the high commercial value associated with these wines.     Stigmatizing attitudes toward patients with psychiatric disorders among medical students and professionals

    Introduction: Stigma attached to mental health encompasses discrimination and exclusion of psychiatric patients and hinders their opportunities to have more productive and fulfilling lives. Moreover, stigma also exists among health professionals, and therefore, it hampers the provision of treatment and care and the promotion of mental well-being. This manuscript intends to assess and compare the levels of stigmatization toward patients with mental illness between medical students and doctors from different specialties. Methods: The Portuguese version of Attribution Questionnaire (AQ-27) was used to assess the attitudes of medical students (n = 203), non-psychiatry doctors (n = 121), and psychiatry specialists (n = 29) from the University of Minho and three hospitals in the region of Braga, Portugal (Hospital de Braga, Hospital Senhora da Oliveira, and Hospital de Fafe). Results: Psychiatrists were the group that displayed lower levels of stigmatizing attitudes in all the items of the AQ-27, followed by the students. The regression analyses revealed that professional group and presence of a relative with mental illness were the factors that have a significant impact on the levels of stigmatization. Conclusions: Mental illness stigma is widely spread in community and reaches not only general population but also health professionals. Psychiatrists presented lower levels of stigma compared with non-psychiatry physicians and medical students. We found that stigma is related with age and the presence of relatives with psychiatric disorders. These findings highlight the critical relevance of raising awareness on this topic and, therefore, break stereotypes to reduce the negative consequences of stigma.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
