Flux moduli stabilisation, Supergravity algebras and no-go theorems
We perform a complete classification of the flux-induced 12d algebras
compatible with the set of N=1 type II orientifold models that are T-duality
invariant, and allowed by the symmetries of the T^6/(Z_2 x Z_2) isotropic
orbifold. The classification is performed in a type IIB frame, where only H_3
and Q fluxes are present. We then study no-go theorems, formulated in a type
IIA frame, on the existence of Minkowski/de Sitter (Mkw/dS) vacua. By deriving
a dictionary between the sources of potential energy for the three moduli (S, T
and U) in types IIA and IIB, we are able to combine algebra results and no-go
theorems. The outcome is a systematic procedure for identifying
phenomenologically viable models where Mkw/dS vacua may exist. We present a
complete table of the allowed algebras and the viability of their resulting
scalar potential, and we point at the models which stand any chance of
producing a fully stable vacuum.Comment: Version published in JHE
On the sigma-model structure of type IIA supergravity action in doubled field approach
In this letter we describe how to string together the doubled field approach
by Cremmer, Julia, Lu and Pope with Pasti-Sorokin-Tonin technique to construct
the sigma-model-like action for type IIA supergravity. The relation of the
results with that of obtained in the context of searching for

Some Cubic Couplings in Type IIB Supergravity on and Three-point Functions in SYM_4 at Large N
All cubic couplings in type IIB supergravity on that
involve two scalar fields that are mixtures of the five form field
strength on and the trace of the graviton on are derived by using
the covariant equations of motion and the quadratic action for type IIB
supergravity on . All corresponding three-point functions in
SYM are calculated in the supergravity approximation. It is pointed out
that the scalars correspond not to the chiral primary operators in the

Diagrammar and metamorphosis of coset symmetries in dimensionally reduced type IIB supergravity
Studying the reduction of type IIB supergravity from ten to three space-time
dimensions we describe the metamorphosis of Dynkin diagram for gravity line
"caterpillar" into a type IIB supergravity "dragonfly" that is triggered by
inclusion of scalars and antisymmetric tensor fields. The final diagram
corresponds to type IIB string theory E8 global symmetry group which is the
subgroup of the conjectured E11 hidden symmetry group. Application of the
results for getting the type IIA/IIB T-duality rules and for searching for type

Exceptional Flux Compactifications
We consider type II (non-)geometric flux backgrounds in the absence of brane
sources, and construct their explicit embedding into maximal gauged D=4
supergravity. This enables one to investigate the critical points, mass spectra
and gauge groups of such backgrounds. We focus on a class of type IIA geometric
vacua and find a novel, non-supersymmetric and stable AdS vacuum in maximal
supergravity with a non-semisimple gauge group. Our construction relies on a
non-trivial mapping between SL(2) x SO(6,6) fluxes, SU(8) mass spectra and

A Massive S-duality in 4 dimensions
We reduce the Type IIA supergravity theory with a generalized Scherk-Schwarz
ansatz that exploits the scaling symmetry of the dilaton, the metric and the NS
2-form field. The resulting theory is a new massive, gauged supergravity theory
in four dimensions with a massive 2-form field and a massive 1-form field. We
show that this theory is S-dual to a theory with a massive vector field and a
massive 2-form field, which are dual to the massive 2-form and 1-form fields in
the original theory, respectively. The S-dual theory is shown to arise from a
Scherk-Schwarz reduction of the heterotic theory. Hence we establish a massive,
S-duality type relation between the IIA theory and the heterotic theory in four
dimensions. We also show that the Lagrangian for the new four dimensional
theory can be put in the most general form of a D=4, N=4 gauged Lagrangian
found by Schon and Weidner, in which (part of) the SL(2) group has been gauged.Comment: 20 pages, references adde
Minimal Stability in Maximal Supergravity
Recently, it has been shown that maximal supergravity allows for
non-supersymmetric AdS critical points that are perturbatively stable. We
investigate this phenomenon of stability without supersymmetry from the
sGoldstino point of view. In particular, we calculate the projection of the
mass matrix onto the sGoldstino directions, and derive the necessary conditions
for stability. Indeed we find a narrow window allowing for stable SUSY breaking
points. As a by-product of our analysis, we find that it seems impossible to
perturb supersymmetric critical points into non-supersymmetric ones: there is a

U-dual fluxes and Generalized Geometry
We perform a systematic analysis of generic string flux compactifications,
making use of Exceptional Generalized Geometry (EGG) as an organizing
principle. In particular, we establish the precise map between fluxes, gaugings
of maximal 4d supergravity and EGG, identifying the complete set of gaugings
that admit an uplift to 10d heterotic or type IIB supegravity backgrounds. Our
results reveal a rich structure, involving new deformations of 10d supergravity
backgrounds, such as the RR counterparts of the -deformation. These new
deformations are expected to provide the natural extension of the
-deformation to full-fledged F-theory backgrounds. Our analysis also
provides some clues on the 10d origin of some of the particularly less
understood gaugings of 4d supergravity. Finally, we derive the explicit
expression for the effective superpotential in arbitrary N = 1 heterotic or
type IIB orientifold compactifications, for all the allowed fluxes.Comment: 58 pages, 6 table
A special road to AdS vacua
We apply the techniques of special Kaehler geometry to investigate AdS_4
vacua of general N=2 gauged supergravities underlying flux compactifications of
type II theories. We formulate the scalar potential and its extremization
conditions in terms of a triplet of prepotentials P_x and their special Kaehler
covariant derivatives only, in a form that recalls the potential and the
attractor equations of N=2 black holes. We propose a system of first order
equations for the P_x which generalize the supersymmetry conditions and yield
non-supersymmetric vacua. Special geometry allows us to recast these equations
in algebraic form, and we find an infinite class of new N=0 and N=1 AdS_4
solutions, displaying a rich pattern of non-trivial charges associated with
NSNS and RR fluxes. Finally, by explicit evaluation of the entropy function on
the solutions, we derive a U-duality invariant expression for the cosmological
