Consensus analysis of multiagent networks via aggregated and pinning approaches
This is the post-print version of of the Article - Copyright @ 2011 IEEEIn this paper, the consensus problem of multiagent nonlinear directed networks (MNDNs) is discussed in the case that a MNDN does not have a spanning tree to reach the consensus of all nodes. By using the Lie algebra theory, a linear node-and-node pinning method is proposed to achieve a consensus of a MNDN for all nonlinear functions satisfying a given set of conditions. Based on some optimal algorithms, large-size networks are aggregated to small-size ones. Then, by applying the principle minor theory to the small-size networks, a sufficient condition is given to reduce the number of controlled nodes. Finally, simulation results are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the developed criteria. This work was jointly supported by CityU under a research grant (7002355) and GRF funding (CityU 101109)

The parameter uncertainties are allowed to be norm-bounded and enter into the state matrix. The system measurements may be unavailable (i.e., missing data) at any sample time, and the probability of the occurrence of missing data is assumed to be known. The purpose of this problem is to design a linear filter such that, for all admissible parameter uncertainties and all possible incomplete observations, the error state of the filtering process is mean square bounded, and the steady-state variance of the estimation error of each state is not more than the individual prescribed upper bound. It is shown that, the addressed filtering problem can effectively be solved in terms of the solutions of a couple of algebraic Riccati-like inequalities or linear matrix inequalities. The explicit expression of the desired robust filters is parameterized, and an illustrative numerical example is provided to demonstrate the usefulness and flexibility of the proposed design approach

In this note, the T-S fuzzy model approach is exploited to establish stability criteria for a class of nonlinear stochastic systems with time delay. Sufficient conditions are derived in the format of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), such that for all admissible parameter uncertainties, the overall fuzzy system is stochastically exponentially stable in the mean square, independent of the time delay. Therefore, with the numerically attractive Matlab LMI toolbox, the robust stability of the uncertain stochastic fuzzy systems with time delays can be easily checked

The interconnection matrix and the activation functions are assumed to be norm-bounded. The problem addressed is to estimate the neuron states, through available output measurements, such that for all admissible time-delays, the dynamics of the estimation error is globally exponentially stable. An effective linear matrix inequality approach is developed to solve the neuron state estimation problem. In particular, we derive the conditions for the existence of the desired estimators for the delayed neural networks. We also parameterize the explicit expression of the set of desired estimators in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, it is shown that the main results can be easily extended to cope with the traditional stability analysis problem for delayed neural networks. Numerical examples are included to illustrate the applicability of the proposed design method

By choosing to view this document, you agree to all provisions of the copyright laws protecting it.This paper deals with a new filtering problem for linear uncertain discrete-time stochastic systems with randomly varying sensor delay. The norm-bounded parameter uncertainties enter into the system matrix of the state space model. The system measurements are subject to randomly varying sensor delays, which often occur in information transmissions through networks. The problem addressed is the design of a linear filter such that, for all admissible parameter uncertainties and all probabilistic sensor delays, the error state of the filtering process is mean square bounded, and the steady-state variance of the estimation error for each state is not more than the individual prescribed upper bound. We show that the filtering problem under consideration can effectively be solved if there are positive definite solutions to a couple of algebraic Riccati-like inequalities or linear matrix inequalities. We also characterize the set of desired robust filters in terms of some free parameters. An illustrative numerical example is used to demonstrate the usefulness and flexibility of the proposed design approach

All the system parameters are time-varying and the uncertainty enters into the state matrix. The measurement missing phenomenon occurs in a random way, and the missing probability for each sensor is governed by an individual random variable satisfying a certain probabilistic distribution in the interval . The stochastic nonlinearities under consideration here are described by statistical means which can cover several classes of well-studied nonlinearities. Sufficient conditions are derived for a finite-horizon filter to satisfy both the estimation error variance constraints and the prescribed H ∞ performance requirement. These conditions are expressed in terms of the feasibility of a series of recursive linear matrix inequalities (RLMIs). Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed filter design scheme. This work was supported in part by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) of the U.K. by Grant GR/S27658/01, the Royal Society of the U.K., National Natural Science Foundation of China by Grants 60825303 and 60834003, National 973 Project of China by Grant 2009CB320600, Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation by Grant

By choosing to view this document, you agree to all provisions of the copyright laws protecting it.This paper presents an approach to robust H∞ control of a real multilink flexible manipulator via regional pole assignment. We first show that the manipulator system can be approximated by a linear continuous uncertain model with exogenous disturbance input. The uncertainty occurring in an operating space is assumed to be norm-bounded and enter into both the system and control matrices. Then, a multiobjective simultaneous realization problem is studied. The purpose of this problem is to design a state feedback controller such that, for all admissible parameter uncertainties, the closed-loop system simultaneously satisfies both the prespecified H∞ norm constraint on the transfer function from the disturbance input to the system output and the prespecified circular pole constraint on the closed-loop system matrix. An algebraic parameterized approach is developed to characterize the existence conditions as well as the analytical expression of the desired controllers. Third, by comparing with the traditional linear quadratic regulator control method in the sense of robustness and tracking precision, we provide both the simulation and experimental results to demonstrate the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed approach

By choosing to view this document, you agree to all provisions of the copyright laws protecting it.In this paper, the robust H∞-control problem is investigated for a class of uncertain discrete-time fuzzy systems with both multiple probabilistic delays and multiple missing measurements. A sequence of random variables, all of which are mutually independent but obey the Bernoulli distribution, is introduced to account for the probabilistic communication delays. The measurement-missing phenomenon occurs in a random way. The missing probability for each sensor satisfies a certain probabilistic distribution in the interval. Here, the attention is focused on the analysis and design of H∞ fuzzy output-feedback controllers such that the closed-loop Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy-control system is exponentially stable in the mean square. The disturbance-rejection attenuation is constrained to a given level by means of the H∞-performance index. Intensive analysis is carried out to obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of admissible output feedback controllers, which ensures the exponential stability as well as the prescribed H∞ performance. The cone-complementarity-linearization procedure is employed to cast the controller-design problem into a sequential minimization one that is solved by the semi-definite program method. Simulation results are utilized to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design technique in this paper. This work was supported in part by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, U.K., under Grant GR/S27658/01, in part by the Royal Society, U.K., in part by the National Natural Science Foundation of

The parameter uncertainties enter into the state matrices, and the missing measurements are described by a binary switching sequence satisfying a conditional probability distribution. The purpose of the problem is to design a full-order dynamic feedback controller such that, for all possible missing observations and admissible parameter uncertainties, the closed-loop system is asymptotically mean-square stable and satisfies the prescribed performance constraint. Delay-dependent conditions are derived under which the desired solution exists, and the controller parameters are designed by solving a linear matrix inequality (LMI). By choosing to view this document, you agree to all provisions of the copyright laws protecting it.This paper addresses the robust H2 filtering problem for a class of uncertain discrete-time nonlinear stochastic systems. The nonlinearities described by statistical means in this paper comprise some well-studied classes of nonlinearities in the literature. A technique is developed to tackle the matrix trace terms resulting from the nonlinearities, and the well-known S-procedure technique is adopted to cope with the uncertainties. A unified framework is established to solve the addressed robust H2 filtering problem by using a linear matrix inequality approach. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed method
