    Cancer Screening

    Get PDF
Cancer screening is a means to detect cancer early with the goal of decreasing morbidity and mortality. At present, there is a reasonable consensus regarding screening for breast, cervical and colorectal cances and the role of screening is under trial in case of cancers of the lung,  ovaries and prostate. On the other hand, good screening tests are not available for some of the commonest cancers in India like the oral, pharyngeal, esophageal and stomach cancers

It is important for the clinical practitioners as well as the general population to be aware of the ill effects of tobacco on ocular circulation and intra ocular pressure

Cross Layer Aware Adaptive MAC based on Knowledge Based Reasoning for Cognitive Radio Computer Networks

In this paper we are proposing a new concept in MAC layer protocol design for Cognitive radio by combining information held by physical layer and MAC layer with analytical engine based on knowledge based reasoning approach. In the proposed system a cross layer information regarding signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR) and received power are analyzed with help of knowledge based reasoning system to determine minimum power to transmit and size of contention window, to minimize backoff, collision, save power and drop packets. The performance analysis of the proposed protocol indicates improvement in power saving, lowering backoff and significant decrease in number of drop packets. The simulation environment was implement using OMNET++ discrete simulation tool with Mobilty framework and MiXiM simulation library.Comment: 8 page

Girish Karnad’s Tughlaq: Trace of Historical Elements

Girish Karnad's second play Tughlaq (1964) has been remarkably fabricated as a historical play. It was first produced in Kannada in 1965 after that it was translated into other languages. It is a play set in the medieval past of India based on History but politically relevant to the contemporary period. Karnad took a historical theme- the turbulent reign and paradoxical character of Tughlaq- for developing the plot of this famous play

Exploring the Awareness and Usage of Electronic Library Resources Among Students at College Level in Assam

    Get PDF
The current research paper explains how familiar and frequently students at College in Assam used electronic library resources. A descriptive survey method gathered information from 150 students via a questionnaire. Findings indicated a significant lack of awareness among students regarding electronic resources, with 61% of respondents expressing unawareness due to a lack of prior knowledge. Consequently, many students continued relying on traditional library systems for their research needs. Furthermore, only a small fraction (16%) of students knew about the existence of electronic library resources but rarely utilized them for academic purposes. Among these aware students, 37% used these resources once a week, while 31% used them twice a week. The study concludes that the limited awareness among students resulted in the underutilization of electronic resources

Daily Border Crossings: Negotiations of gender, body and subjectivity in the lives of women workers in urban malls.

The last two decades have seen the emergence of not just new markets but new market spaces that provide a visual experience of products and persons that closely approximates the field set up by the global media. Malls represent the concrete representations of unabashed celebration and acknowledgment of desire. Malls are one of the spaces that shape everyday lives suggesting the rightfulness of fulfilling sexual, cultural, social and gastronomic desires. One ‘category’ of persons presumably shaped by these spaces are those who work in them. Our concern is particularly with the negotiation of body and subjectivity as women travel daily, crossing borders of class and caste and neighbourhood -from the lower class world that forms their residences to the space of erotic bodies and hyper real images. The mall is a temple dedicated to the gratification of the body and all its senses. The young nubile woman working in the mall is an ideal conduit for the creation, communication and the consummation of this desire. While these women are selling the dreams of a perfect body and all manner of bodily gratification they need themselves to project a certain kind of body, but the question is can they inhabit this body outside the boundary of the mall? Do they discard this body at the exit of the mall? ‘Its hard to wipe it off’. This reference to the make-up she uses as a part of her work at the outlet of a multinational brand suggests the difficulty in carrying this bodily self back to her habitat

Wounds are the most common problem faced by man since his very existence. So long as human has treated the wounds we have looked for the way to close them. Suturing is an inseparable part of surgery which needs no introduction, although the first description of sutures and suturing material is from Susrutha Samhitha. It is true that very few of them are practically tried now, Amrutha Tantu was taken for the study in view of testing its efficiency and whether it exhibits any medicinal property to wound. For these study effects were compared with Mersilk as this is also non absorbable most commonly used suture materials, Total 60 patients 30 in each group were taken for study about efficiency of both suture materials were assessed with criteria like pain edema colour temperature, tenderness and discharge. Efficacy of Amruth Tantu was found equal to Mersilk with extra benfit of faster wound healing due to anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial property of Guduchi
