On the sources of static plane symmetric vacuum space-times

The static vacuum plane spacetimes are considered, which have two non-trivial solutions: The Taub solution and the Rindler solution. Imposed reflection symmetry, we find that the source for the Taub solution does not satisfy any energy conditions, which is consistent with previous studies, while the source for the Rindler solution satisfies the weak and strong energy conditions (but not the dominant one). It is argued that the counterpart of the Einstein theory to the gravitational field of a massive Newtonian plane should be described by the Rindler solution, which represents also a uniform gravitational field

A PERCEPÇÃO DOS DISCENTES DA UFSC SOBRE OS SERVIÇOS OFERECIDOS PELA BIBLIOTECA CENTRAL MENSURADO PELO MÉTODO SERVQUAL

O artigo retrata o nível de satisfação dos discentes da UFSC regularmente matriculados na modalidade presencial no ano de 2013, sobre os serviços oferecidos pela Biblioteca Universitária Central da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (BU-UFSC). O método utilizado foi o Servqual. A amostra foi de 381 discentes graduandos, mestrandos e doutorandos, tendo sido necessário descartar dois instrumentos por erro no preenchimento do questionário, ficando 279. A coleta de dados foi feita com questionário estruturado em google docs e adotado o tipo probabilístico-sistemática. O intervalo de seleção aleatória do entrevistado foi de seis clientes, nos turnos matutino, vespertino e noturno e a coleta foi do dia 02 ao 06 de abril de 2013. Os dados foram tabulados e processados no SPSS®. A pesquisa revelou que as médias das expectativas dos discentes foram elevadas, ficando acima da alternativa bom, enquanto as percepções ficaram aquém das expectativas, permitindo afirmar que os serviços prestados na BU-UFSC merecem ser revistos. A pesquisa revelou necessidades urgentes para melhorar a percepção do cliente com a melhoria no estacionamento, redução do ruído, salas para atividades individual ou pequenos grupos. A pesquisa contribui com a gestão da BU-UFSC, pois permite conhecer seus clientes, bem como indicar pontos urgentes de melhorias nos serviços oferecidos

Gravitational Collapse of Self-Similar and Shear-free Fluid with Heat Flow

Online Construction of Wavelet Trees

The wavelet tree (WT) is a flexible and efficient data structure for representing character strings in succinct space, while allowing for fast generalised rank, select and access operations. As such, they play an important role in modern text indexing methods. However, despite their popularity, not many algorithms have been published concerning their construction. In particular, while the WT is capable of representing a sequence of length n over an alphabet of size m in nlg m+o(nlg m) bits, much more space is typically used for its construction. Here we propose an O(nlg m)-time online method for the construction of the WT, requiring no prior knowledge about the input alphabet. The proposed algorithm is conceptually simpler than other state-of-the-art methods, while having comparable time performance and being more space-efficient in practice, since it performs just one pass over the input text and uses little extra space other than for the structure itself, as shown both theoretically and empirically

EXPECTATIVA E PERCEPÇÃO DE QUALIDADE DOS EGRESSOS (2010-2012) DO CURSO DE SERVIÇO SOCIAL DA UFSC

As Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) atuam no setor de serviços educacionais e são avaliadas por diversas ferramentas de mensuração da qualidade das universidades no Brasil, como o SINAES (BRASIL, 2009). Por esta razão, desenvolveu-se um estudo de caso para comparar, através do Método Servqual (PARASURAMAN; ZEITHML; BERRY, 1988), as expectativas e percepções de qualidade dos egressos de 2010 a 2012, do Curso de Serviço Social da UFSC. A população foi de 299 concluintes e com intervalo de confiança de 95%, erro amostral de 7%, e, proporção p = 0,5, chegou-se amostra de 119 entrevistas. A coleta de dados foi feita um questionário estruturado, tipo Likert de sete pontos, adaptado à avaliação de qualidade educacional e realizada em março de 2O13. O tratamento dos dados foi pelo SPSS® e analisada quantitativamente (YIN, 2005; BARBETTA, 2008). As expectativas superaram as percepções de qualidade nas cinco dimensões do Servqual, com baixa satisfação destacaram-se o cumprimento de prazos didáticos; laboratório de informática; atualização do site e murais informativos, mas com elevada satisfação: o reconhecimento do curso pelo MEC; a cortesia dos professores e funcionários. Concluir-se que medidas urgentes devem ser adotadas à melhoria da qualidade e satisfação dos clientes do referido Curso

Optimal Grid Drawings of Complete Multipartite Graphs and an Integer Variant of the Algebraic Connectivity

How to draw the vertices of a complete multipartite graph $G$ on different points of a bounded $d$-dimensional integer grid, such that the sum of squared distances between vertices of $G$ is (i) minimized or (ii) maximized? For both problems we provide a characterization of the solutions. For the particular case $d=1$, our solution for (i) also settles the minimum-2-sum problem for complete bipartite graphs; the minimum-2-sum problem was defined by Juvan and Mohar in 1992. Weighted centroidal Voronoi tessellations are the solution for (ii). Such drawings are related with Laplacian eigenvalues of graphs. ONDE ESTÃO OS EGRESSOS DO CURSO DE ADMINISTRAÇÃO DA UFSC?

O Estudo de Caso aborda a atuação profissional de egressos, modalidade presencial, do Curso de Administração (2011-2014), da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (CAD-UFSC). Da população de 548 bacharéis da lista de Graduados deste Survey, obteve-se a Amostra de 146 investigados, num Intervalo de Confiança de 95% e Erro Amostral de 7% (RENDER, STAIR JR.; HANNA, 2010). O questionário foi estruturado com perguntas fechadas Estilo Likert (HAIR JR., ANDERSON; TATHAM; BLACK, 2005), fixado no Google Docs e enviado por e-mail a todos egressos do período. A coleta foi feita em maio e junho de 2015, o tratamento dos dados foi quantitativo e usou-se o SPSS® na sua operacionalização. A pesquisa apontou que predominam os egressos na faixa etária de 26 a 30 anos (50,7%), sendo 50,7% do sexo feminino, a maioria natural do Estado de Santa Catarina, cursaram o ensino médio em escola privada e que cerca de 30% fez intercâmbio no exterior durante a graduação. Eles trabalham em empresas de médio porte e a faixa salarial predominante oscila de 3 a 6 salários mínimos, mas a maioria deles fez ou está cursando pós-graduação. Realçam à relevância em terem se graduado na UFSC, pois lhes permitiu reconhecimento pessoal e profissional, reforçando as avaliações do CAD-UFSC como um dos cursos 5 estrelas pelo MEC-Brasil

Gravitational Collapse: Expanding and Collapsing Regions

We investigate the expanding and collapsing regions by taking two well-known spherically symmetric spacetimes. For this purpose, the general formalism is developed by using Israel junction conditions for arbitrary spacetimes. This has been used to obtain the surface energy density and the tangential pressure. The minimal pressure provides the gateway to explore the expanding and collapsing regions.
