The distribution of grain diameters in polycrystalline magnesium oxide
Grain diameters in porous and nonporous magnesium oxide are shown to be distributed in the same way as in a metal. The spread of the distribution appears to be influenced by the purity of the ceramic, but not by the average grain size

The planar distribution of grain size in polycrystalline magnesium oxide is accurately represented, over a wide range of average grain diameter, by a simple function of the square root of the grain diameter. An analysis of the experimental data shows that a similar function of the logarithm of the grain diameter does not fit them so well
