    Plant breeding evaluation of the red currant cultivar ‘Podarok Pobeditelyam’ and its inbred progeny

    Background. Inbreeding, as a way to produce progenies from organisms in different degrees of kinship, is an important genetic and breeding technique used to improve various crops, including fruit and berry plants. Inbreeding has not been extensively used with red currant, so a study of the possibility to employ closely related crosses in breeding practice with this crop remains relevant. The purpose of this study was to assess the breeding potential of the red currant cultivar ‘Podarok Pobeditelyam’ by disclosing economic and biological characteristics in its inbred progeny.Methods and materials. The research was carried out at the red currant breeding site of the Russian Research Institute of Fruit Crop Breeding (VNIISPK, Orel) in 2016–2018. The seedlings obtained from the self-pollination of a new red currant cultivar, ‘Podarok Pobeditelyam’, were the objects of the study. Records and observations were carried out according to the program and methodology for breeding and variety studies of fruit, berry and nut crops.Results and conclusion. The percentage of long-cluster seedlings (cluster length > 10 cm) in the inbred progeny of cv. ‘Podarok Pobeditelyam’ was 21.8%; segregation of large-fruited seedlings (berry weight > 0.65 g) was observed at the level of 17%; the maximum degree of transgression (Tsmax) was 42%; and the incidence of transgressive seedlings was 37%. The analysis of the progeny showed that cv. ‘Podarok Pobeditelyam’ is a homozygote for the dominant Rc gene that controls the red color of the berries, and displays donor properties for the trait “dry detachment of berries”. The study of the cultivar’s self-pollinated progeny did not reveal any inbreeding depression in F1 seedlings from closely related crosses as far as plant condition or productivity is concerned. The selected seedlings are of interest for further variety research and use in breeding practice as new source material

    In terms of companies with complex organizational structure focused on the functioning of various business verticals and interaction of multiple crosscutting processes, a correct approach to the organization of production is particularly important. Every company that cares about the future of its activities and attraction of revenues, provides continuous control of overhead costs and looks for ways to eliminate them. Among many approaches to improve the production organization the theory of lean production has taken its place in recent years. The concept of lean production requires the involvement of all employees to search for and eliminate losses. In Russia, the concept of lean production is used by such large companies as JSC «KAMAZ», holding company «GAZ», JSC «Sberbank», JSC «Mosenergo» and others. But the tools were developed primarily for typical industrial processes, so they need to be adapted to the implementation at the enterprises where main activities focus on services, e. g. regarding transportation system. The project of lean production in JSC «Russian Railways» is deemed to identify and reduce losses in the implementation of cooperation within the holding company between various departments, as well as external customers. One of the most important instruments of lean production is mapping of production and technological processes. The objective of the authors is to investigate mapping of the processes particularly with regard to JSC «Russian railways», using special mapping technique, comparative method, and general scientific methods. The article describes stages of planning and implementation of mapping and its special transport-related features. The main conclusion is that while implementing mapping to transportation company it ultimately should not be seen as a way to reflect the technological sequence of operations, but as a look at the technology of manufacturing processes from the perspective of the customer, that is, from the point of view of the consumer (internal or external).В условиях предприятий со сложной организационной структурой, ориентированной на функционирование различных бизнес-вертикалей и взаимодействие множества сквозных процессов, особо важен правильный подход к организации производства.     Comparative analysis of cutting fluids

    The article contains the results of seven working tests of cutting fluids for metal-cutting equipment. The results of the analysis were evaluated by experts, including process engineers, chemical engineers, foremen and production machine operators in the following areas: turning, drilling, milling, sawing, grinding, threading, boring works. The analysis made it possible to determine the scope of application of cutting fluids depending on the volume and rhythm of the work, the operating conditions of the cutting fluids, the requirements of the design and technological documentation taking into account the final cost of the cutting fluids used. The problem of determining an accelerated system of practical tests for cutting fluids to evaluate the effectiveness of using a particular product before conducting the production tests on machine equipment is considered. For this, criteria for evaluating the cutting fluids are proposed using the weighting method to ensure informed decision-making in the choice of a cutting fluid for admission to full-fledged production tests. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd

    Synthesis of tetrazole containing 1,2,3-thiadiazole derivatives via U-4CR and their anti-TMV activity

    A series of novel tetrazole containing 1,2,3-thiadiazole derivatives were designed and synthesized via Ugi reaction. Their structures were confirmed by melting points, IR, 1H NMR, and HRMS (ESI). Preliminary bioassay indicated that most target compounds exhibited very good direct anti-TMV activity at 100 μg/mL, which was equal to or higher than that of ribavirin.
