QCD evolution and skewedness effects in color dipole description of DVCS

    Get PDF
We show the role played by QCD evolution and skewedness effects in the DVCS cross section at large Q2Q^2 within the color dipole description of the process at photon level. The dipole cross section is given by the saturation model, which can be improved by DGLAP evolution at high photon virtualities. We investigate both possibilities as well as the off-forward effect through a simple phenomenological parametrisation. The results are compared to the recent ZEUS DVCS data.Comment: LaTeX, 6 pages, 5 Figs. Vers 2: Minor modifications. Accepted by EPJ

Hyperfine Populations Prior to Muon Capture

It is shown that the 1S level hyperfine populations prior to muon capture will be statistical when either target or beam are unpolarised independent of the atomic level at which the hyperfine interaction becomes appreciable. This assertion holds in the absence of magnetic transitions during the cascade and is true because of minimal polarisation after atomic capture and selective feeding during the cascade.Comment: (revtex, 6 preprint pages, no figures

Moments of Nucleon Generalized Parton Distributions in Lattice QCD

Calculation of moments of generalized parton distributions in lattice QCD requires more powerful techniques than those previously used to calculate moments of structure functions. Hence, we present a novel approach that exploits the full information content from a given lattice configuration by measuring an overdetermined set of lattice observables to provide maximal statistical constraints on the generalized form factors at a given virtuality, t. In an exploratory investigation using unquenched QCD configurations at intermediate sea quark masses, we demonstrate that our new technique is superior to conventional methods and leads to reliable numerical signals for the n=2 flavor singlet generalized form factors up to 3 GeV^2. The contribution from connected diagrams in the flavor singlet sector to the total quark angular momentum is measured to an accuracy of the order of one percent.Comment: 16 pages, 8 figures, LaTeX, minor elaboration of formalism and singular value decomposition for non-specialists and addition of several reference

Tagged-photon events in polarized DIS process

    Get PDF
Deep-inelastic events for the scattering of the longitudinally polarized electron by polarized proton with tagged collinear photon radiated from initial-state electron are considered. The corresponding cross-section is derived in the Born approximation. The model-independent radiative corrections to the Born cross-section are also calculated. Obtained result is applied to the case of elastic scattering.Comment: 14 pages, 2 figures, submitted to JET

Pion production in deeply virtual Compton scattering

Using a soft pion theorem based on chiral symmetry and a Δ(1232)\Delta(1232) resonance model we propose an estimate for the production cross section of low energy pions in the deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) process. In particular, we express the ep→eγπNe p \to e \gamma \pi N processes in terms of generalized parton distributions. We provide estimates of the contamination of the ep→eγpe p \to e \gamma p DVCS observables due to this associated pion production processes when the experimental data are not fully exclusive, for a set of kinematical conditions representative of present or planned experiments at JLab, HERMES and COMPASS.Comment: 50 pages, 22 figure
