Deciphering Proteomic Signatures of Early Diapause in Nasonia

Insect diapause is an alternative life-history strategy used to increase longevity and survival in harsh environmental conditions. Even though some aspects of diapause are well investigated, broader scale studies that elucidate the global metabolic adjustments required for this remarkable trait, are rare. In order to better understand the metabolic changes during early insect diapause, we used a shotgun proteomics approach on early diapausing and non-diapausing larvae of the recently sequenced hymenopteran model organism Nasonia vitripennis. Our results deliver insights into the molecular underpinnings of diapause in Nasonia and corroborate previously reported diapause-associated features for invertebrates, such as a diapause-dependent abundance change for heat shock and storage proteins. Furthermore, we observed a diapause-dependent switch in enzymes involved in glycerol synthesis and a vastly changed capacity for protein synthesis and degradation. The abundance of structural proteins and proteins involved in protein synthesis decreased with increasing diapause duration, while the abundance of proteins likely involved in diapause maintenance (e.g. ferritins) increased. Only few potentially diapause-specific proteins were identified suggesting that diapause in Nasonia relies to a large extent on a modulation of pre-existing pathways. Studying a diapause syndrome on a proteomic level rather than isolated pathways or physiological networks, has proven to be an efficient and successful avenue to understand molecular mechanisms involved in diapause

Beaglebone black based e-system and advertisement revenue hike scheme for Bangalore city public transportation system

Cases of theft, robbery, terrorist attacks and fire mishaps in public transportation systems across the world are common. It is a tedious task for investigating agencies to track & crack these cases in time. Now the world is moving towards bulk cash free cashless transactions using ATM cards. We are proposing a Centralized bus or rail control system, where a passenger needs to fill up the details by submitting the required Identity & address proof as per Know your Passenger policy of that particular country and purchase a unique Bus or Rail pass ID card. Revenue hike by display of advertisement and entertainment acts through LCD/LED display devices inside the bus and trains with the display of current & next stop details along with audio welcome messages is also proposed here. The Proposed system is based on Beagle bone black. We are using RFID Reader to read the Smart card RFID unique Tag no's issued to passengers as ID cards. With the proposed system the existing paper ticket system can be replaced with an e-ticket by triggering an SMS & Email to the Passenger mobile number & mail ID. The Bus or train location can be tracked with the help of GPS installation inside the bus or train by the Centralized Cell. © 2016 IEEE

Fusion of Shape and Texture for Unconstrained Periocular Authentication

    No full text
Unconstrained authentication is an important component for personal automated systems and human-computer interfaces. Existing solutions mostly use face as the primary object of analysis. The performance of face-based systems is largely determined by the extent of deformation caused in the facial region and amount of useful information available in occluded face images. Periocular region is a useful portion of face with discriminative ability coupled with resistance to deformation. A reliable portion of periocular area is available for occluded images. The present work demonstrates that joint representation of periocular texture and periocular structure provides an effective expression and poses invariant representation. The proposed methodology provides an effective and compact description of periocular texture and shape. The method is tested over four benchmark datasets exhibiting varied acquisition conditions

Copy number variations burden on mirna genes reveals layers of complexities involved in the regulation of pathways and phenotypic expression

MicroRNAs are involved in post-transcriptional down-regulation of gene expression. Variations in miRNA genes can severely affect downstream-regulated genes and their pathways. However, population-specific burden of CNVs on miRNA genes and the complexities created towards the phenotype is not known. From a total of 44109 CNVs investigated from 1715 individuals across 12 populations using high-throughput arrays, 4007 miRNA-CNVs (,9%) consisting 6542 (,5%) miRNA genes with a total of 333 (,5%) singleton miRNA genes were identified. We found miRNA-CNVs across the genomes of individuals showing multiple hits in many targets, co-regulated under the same pathway. This study proposes four mechanisms unraveling the many complexities in miRNA genes, targets and co-regulated miRNA genes towards establishment of phenotypic diversity
