Overlap Times in the GIB/GI/∞GI^B/GI/\infty Queue

Overlap times have been studied as a way of understanding the time of interaction between customers in a service facility. Most of the previous analysis relies on the single jump assumption for arrivals, which implies the queue increases by one for each arrival epoch. In this paper, we relax the single arrival assumption and explore the impact of having batch arrivals. Unfortunately, with batch arrivals it is not clear how one measures an overlap time between batches of customers. Thus, we develop two ways of capturing the notion of an overlap time in a batch setting and derive exact results in the infinite server queue with batch arrivals. Finally, we derive new results for analyzing overlap times of more than two batches

Introducción a las técnicas de comunicación terapéuticas y no terapéuticas en enfermería = Introduction to therapeutic and non-therapeutic communication techniques in nursing

Resumen: La comunicación entre los profesionales enfermeros y los pacientes es básica en la terapéutica del cuidado, de hecho, los expertos en salud tienen que vigilar muy de cerca las respuestas que dan a los cambios conversacionales que se producen en el proceso de atención de enfermería, prestando especial atención a los aspectos del lenguaje tanto verbal como no verbal. Con el objetivo de mejorar dicha interacción, y debido a la escasa literatura renovada existente al respecto, se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica actualizada, con unos criterios de inclusión y exclusión de artículos que arrojó una serie de respuestas terapéuticas y no terapéuticas que todo profesional del cuidado debería tener presente. La conclusión final estriba en la necesidad inmediata de automatizar el conocimiento adquirido en el presente trabajo e incluirlo como parte esencial en los programas terapéuticos. Palabras clave: comunicación, comunicación no verbal, enfermería, mensaje; terapéutica Abstract: Communication between nursing professionals and patients is essential in therapeutic care, in fact, helth experts have to closely monitor the responses that give conversational changes occur in the nursing process, tanking into account verbal and nonverbal aspects. In order to improve this interaction, and due to the limited literature available on the subjetc to date, we performed a literature research updated, with article inclusion and exclusion criteria that showed a number of therapeutic and nontherapeutic responses to all care professionals should be present. The bottom line is the need to immediate automate the knowledge gained in this article and include them as an essential part of the treatment programs. Cosmological solutions from fake N=2 EYM supergravity

We characterise the (fake) supersymmetric solutions of Wick-rotated N=2 d=4 gauged supergravity coupled to non-Abelian vector multiplets. In the time-like case we obtain generalisations of Kastor & Traschen's cosmological black holes: they have a specific time-dependence and the base-space must be 3-dimensional hyperCR/Gauduchon-Tod space. In the null-case, we find that the metric has a holonomy contained in Sim(2), give a general characterisation of the solutions, and give some examples. Finally, we point out that in some cases the solutions we found are non-BPS solutions to N=2 d=4 supergravity coupled to vector multiplets.Comment: 30 pages. Relative importance of environment, human activity and spatial situation in determining the distribution of terrestrial mammal diversity in Argentina

We recorded the number of terrestrial mammal species in each Argentinian province, and the number of species belonging to particular groups (Marsupialia, Placentaria, and among the latter, Xenarthra, Carnivora, Ungulates and Rodentia). We performed multiple regressions of each group’s SR on environmental, human and spatial variables, to determine the amounts of variation explained by these factors. We then used a variance partitioning procedure to specify which proportion of the variation in SR is explained by each of the three factors exclusively and which proportions are attributable to interactions between factors
