The research aimed to determine the hematological profile (erythrocytes, leukocytes, andhemoglobin) of grower laying hens with different cage density and the best cage density. Thisresearch has been conducted in April 2014 using 210 grower laying hens 7--10 weeks in Varia AgungJaya Farm and Balai Veteriner Lampung. The treatment is given based on completely randomizeddesign (CRD), consisting of four treatments and five replications. The data was analyzed usinganalysis of variance on 5% significance level. The result of the research shows that the density of the cage 6,9,12, and 15 hens m-2 have notsignificant (P>0,05) on hematological profile (erythrocytes 1,04--2,74 x 106 mm-3; leukocytes 27,96--52,52 x 103 mm-3; and hemoglobin 6,40--8,20 g/dl)

Test results of a Stirling engine utilizing heat exchanger modules with an integral heat pipe

The Heat Pipe Stirling Engine (HP-1000), a free-piston Stirling engine incorporating three heat exchanger modules, each having a sodium filled heat pipe, has been tested at the NASA-Lewis Research Center as part of the Civil Space Technology Initiative (CSTI). The heat exchanger modules were designed to reduce the number of potential flow leak paths in the heat exchanger assembly and incorporate a heat pipe as the link between the heat source and the engine. An existing RE-1000 free-piston Stirling engine was modified to operate using the heat exchanger modules. This paper describes heat exchanger module and engine performance during baseline testing. Condenser temperature profiles, brake power, and efficiency are presented and discussed

Molecular evidence that Heligmosomoides polygyrus from laboratory mice and wood mice are separate species

The gastro-intestinal (GI) nematode Heligmosomoides polygyrus is an important experimental model in laboratory mice and a well-studied parasite of wood mice in the field. Despite an extensive literature, the taxonomy of this parasite in different hosts is confused, and it is unclear whether laboratory and field systems represent the same or different Operational Taxonomic Units (OTUs). Molecular analyses reveal high sequence divergence between H. p. bakeri (laboratory) and H. p. polygyrus (field); 3% difference in the ribosomal DNA Internal Transcribed Spacers (ITS) and 8.6% variation in the more rapidly evolving mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase I (COI) gene. The COI sequence of U.K. H. p. polygyrus is more similar to H. glareoli from voles than to H. p. bakeri, while a single isolate of H. p. polygyrus from Guernsey confirms the extent of genetic variation between H. p. polygyrus populations. Analysis of molecular variance demonstrated that mtCOI sequence variation is associated primarily with groups with distinct ITS2 sequences, and with host identity, but is not partitioned significantly with a single combined taxon H. polygyrus incorporating European and North American isolates. We conclude therefore that the laboratory OTUshould be raised to the level of a distinct species, as H. bakeri from the laboratory mouse Mus musculus, and we reject the hypothesis that H. bakeri has diverged from H. polygyrus in the recent past following introduction into America. However, we are unable to reject the hypothesis that H. polygyrus and H. bakeri are sister taxa, and it may be that H. polygyrus is polyphyletic or paraphyletic

NMR quantum computation with indirectly coupled gates

An NMR realization of a two-qubit quantum gate which processes quantum information indirectly via couplings to a spectator qubit is presented in the context of the Deutsch-Jozsa algorithm. This enables a successful comprehensive NMR implementation of the Deutsch-Jozsa algorithm for functions with three argument bits and demonstrates a technique essential for multi-qubit quantum computation.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures. 10 additional figures illustrating output spectr

Evaluation of the Efficiency of Aqueous Extact of Neem Fruits on Insect Pest of Rice in Rice Agroecosystem of Maga in the Far North Region of Cameroon

The chemical fight against insects pest causes many problems on the biodiversity of ecosystems, destabilizes the trophic level of the ecosystem and has harmful effects on the on health human. Mean while the biological fight using plants extractions can equally play the same role of killing pest, reason why the present study which was carried out in the irrigated perimeters of Maga in the Far North region of Cameroon, have as principal objective to evaluate the aqueous extraction of neem fruit on the insects pest of rice. The specific objectives were to know the biological diversity of insect pest in the irrigated perimeters of Maga, and their repartitioning in the phenological stages, again, to see the effects of the aqueous extractions of the neem fruits on the insects pest per variety and in function of the phenological stages, also to evaluate the damages cause by insects pest during the talling stage in function of the varieties, finally, to evaluate loss cause by the insects pest. The study was made on two rice varieties which were IR46 and NERICA3 in a split plot disposition. The capturing of the insects was done with the help of a sweep net and the identification of the species was done with the help of an entomological buttle, the identification key of insects by Heinrich (1993), Hill (1983), Heinrichs and Barrion (2004) and the families recognition keys by Delvare and Aberlenc (1989).The method of Breniere permited the estimation of loss of output at the talling and harvesting stages of rice caused by the insect pest. The analysis of variance of the result was done using SPSS 20. In the class of insects, twenty two species of insects fall in twenty families divided in seven orders were collected. Among the captured insects, we investigated fourteen insects which were pest. The biological fight have shown an effectiveness in the nursery, talling, and a positive and non negligible effects on the reduction insects pest in the heading and maturation stages and thus has permitted the reduction of damages from insects on the rice plants

Quantum central limit theorem for continuous-time quantum walks on odd graphs in quantum probability theory

The method of the quantum probability theory only requires simple structural data of graph and allows us to avoid a heavy combinational argument often necessary to obtain full description of spectrum of the adjacency matrix. In the present paper, by using the idea of calculation of the probability amplitudes for continuous-time quantum walk in terms of the quantum probability theory, we investigate quantum central limit theorem for continuous-time quantum walks on odd graphs.Comment: 19 page, 1 figure
