    Egg Production and Physical Quality in Cortunix Cortunix Japonica Fed Diet Containing Piperine as Phytogenic Feed Additive

    The objective of this study was to determine the effect of piperine as a phytogenic feed additive on quail performances and egg quality. The experiment used a completely randomized design with five treatments and four replications and used ten quails with one week of age in each replication. The piperine was added to the diets at concentrations of 0 (T0), 15 (T1), 30 (T2), 45 (T3), and 60 mg/kg body weight (T4) for 8 consecutive weeks. The results showed that addition of 60 mg/kg body weight (T4) of piperine significantly (P<0.05) reduced feed consumption, egg production, egg mass, income over feed cost (IOFC), and increased water consumption as compared to the other treatments. The addition of 15-60 mg piperine/kg body weight significantly (P<0.05) reduced eggshell weight and increased egg yolk color score. The conclusion of this experiment was that the addition of piperine at 15-45 mg/kg body weight could be used as phytogenic feed additive to improve performance, IOFC, haugh unit, and yolk color

    Pengaruh Perendaman Berbagai Jenis Jeruk Terhadap Kandungan Logam Berat Timbal (Pb) Dan Kromium (Cr) Pada Kerang Hijau (Perna Viridis Linn)

    Kerang hijau (Perna viridis Linn) merupakan filter feeder sehingga dapat mengakumulasi logam berat seperti timbal dan kromium yang dapat diturunkan dengan menggunakan senyawa asam sitrat yang terkandung di dalam jeruk. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh larutan jeruk terhadap penurunan kandungan timbal dan kromium pada kerang hijau. Metode penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK). Penelitian pendahuluan didapatkan waktu terbaik larutan jeruk nipis yaitu 25 menit dengan konsentrasi sebesar 25%, kemudian digunakan dalam penelitian utama dengan perlakuan konsentrasi perendaman 25% dan lama perendaman 25 menit dan kontrol dengan pengulangan 3 kali. Metode analisa yang digunakan yaitu analisa kadar timbal, kromium, protein, air, pH dan asam sitrat. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan lama waktu perendaman dalam larutan jeruk memberikan pengaruh nyata (p<0,05) terhadap penurunan kandungan timbal, penurunan terendah terjadi pada perendaman dengan larutan jeruk purut dari 1,755 ppm menjadi 1,142 ppm yaitu 0,613 ppm (34,9%), sedangkan penurunan tertinggi terjadi pada perendaman larutan jeruk nipis dari 1,755 ppm menjadi 0,844 ppm yaitu 0,911 ppm (51,9%). Penurunan kandungan kromium terendah terjadi pada perendaman dengan larutan jeruk purut dari 1,098 ppm menjadi 0,492 ppm yaitu 0,606 ppm (55,19%) sedangkan penurunan tertinggi terjadi pada perendaman dengan larutan jeruk nipis dari 1,098 ppm menjadi 0,438 ppm yaitu 0,66 ppm (60,1%). Perbedaan jenis jeruk juga memberikan pengaruh nyata (p<0,05) terhadap kadar protein, kadar air dan pH. Hasil uji organoleptik terhadap kenampakan, bau dan tekstur tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata akan tetapi untuk rasa memberikan pengaruh nyata. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa jeruk nipis yang paling efektif dalam penurunan kandungan timbal dan kromium

    Alternative Organic Liquid Fertilizer from Meatball Water Decoction with Banana Humps Activator

    This study aimed to determine the effect of the use of EM4 and Local Microorganism (LM) activators from banana hump (Kepok banana, Raja banana, and Ambon banana) on the manufacture of organic liquid fertilizer derived from waste meatball water stew. The research method used in this study was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and three replications, namely: P1 EM4, P2 (Local Microorganism from Kepok banana hump ), P2 (Local Microorganism from Ambon banana hump), P3 (Local Microorganism from Raja banana hump). In this study testing the levels of Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Carbon, and pH levels in organic liquid fertilizer from boiled meatball water. The data obtained from this study were analyzed using Complete Randomized Design and Duncan's advanced test. The results of the addition of EM4 activator and banana hump MOL on the manufacture of organic liquid fertilizer from meatball decoction water showed no significant effect (P> 0.05) on N, K, and pH levels on fertilizers. The results showed a significant effect (P <0.05) on the P content of fertilizer. The highest C content was found in P2, while the highest C / N ratio was found in P0

    This research explores teachersā€™ understanding toward classroom action research. The study applied descriptive research method employing information from primary data related to teachersā€™ knowledge and perception on classroom action research in East Java Indonesia. The findings showed that about 84% teachers have tried to conduct classroom action research in their classroom, mainly because it is mandatory for them in order to improve their careers. Other than that, the curriculum changes in Indonesia forced them to conduct this kind of research to adjust to those changes. At a glance, they did not do this type of research voluntarily, but it turned out to be beneficial for their classes. The benefits are to solve classroom problems such as lack of critical thinking skill, low motivation, and lack of activities. It also improves studentsā€™ achievements in learning economics. Moreover, teachers feel more confident because they know how to use classroom action research to find out if students are learning from their lessons.     Ocean acidification is increasingly recognized as a component of global change that could have a wide range of impacts on marine organisms, the ecosystems they live in, and the goods and services they provide humankind. Assessment of these potential socio-economic impacts requires integrated efforts between biologists, chemists, oceanographers, economists and social scientists. But because ocean acidification is a new research area, significant knowledge gaps are preventing economists from estimating its welfare impacts. For instance, economic data on the impact of ocean acidification on significant markets such as fisheries, aquaculture and tourism are very limited (if not non-existent), and non-market valuation studies on this topic are not yet available. Our paper summarizes the current understanding of future OA impacts and sets out what further information is required for economists to assess socio-economic impacts of ocean acidification.     Potential Analysis of Hydro Power Plants in Pesisir Barat District, Lampung Province

    Hydropower plants are increasingly being heard nowadays, but the growth is still very lacking, especially for residents living in rural and coastal areas. At present several efforts have been made by the government, including the existence of a system of purchasing electricity from small-scale renewable energy generation and the construction of new transmission networks. Pesisir Barat Regency is part of the South Lampung region, Sumatra. This region has a population distribution in the coastal area and is surrounded by Bukit Barisan National Park. So that there are many large river streams that can be utilized by the local community. Large rivers have the potential to be utilized further as hydropower renewable energy sources. River potential is seen by conducting river location surveys, flow measurements and river heads and power calculations. Based on the analysis of measurement results there are two rivers that have the potential to be a micro or mini hydro generator; Way Laai and Way Lami. The maximum design discharge of Way Laai of 4.52 m3/s can produce a mechanical output power of 1223.82 kW with an effective head of 44.16 m. Way Lami with a design discharge of 5,336 m3/s, an effective head of 28.8 m has the potential to provide a mechanical power output of 942.23 kW. Sequentially, with this mechanical output power, the Way Laai and Way Lami rivers, can meet the electricity needs of the community with an installed power of 900VA as much as Ā± 1350, Ā± 25100 Houses
