Assesing the Impact of Competition on the Efficiency of Italian Airports

    Get PDF
This paper provides new empirical evidence on the efficiency of Italian airports. Analysing data on 2010 trough conditional efficiency measures, we find that competition affects mostly the frontier of best performers, whilst airports that are lagging behind are less influenced by it. By applying a novel two stage approach, we show that competition has an inverse U-shape impact. Finally, the bi-modal shape of the distribution of pure efficiency indicates the existence of two differently managed groups of airports

Risorse linguistiche per la risposta affermativa in italiano L2: avverbi ed espressioni a inizio frase nelle produzioni orali (primi sondaggi)

Study on the expression of the affirmative answer in oral productions of Italian as L2. We study the two-way spoken language at various levels of proficiency examining a learning corpus, and observing the different strategies used for the expression of the affirmative answer. The point of view is spoken dialogue in the interaction with the teacher – interviewer. The survey is conducted on two-way oral productions of adil2 database of the Università per Stranieri di Siena. We examine the strategies used when a learner opens his sentence, and observe interesting data for the study of language acquisition

Metamorphose des Primats des Praktischen: Kant, Fichte, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche

A One-Year Retrospective Analysis of Viral and Parasitological Agents in Wildlife Animals Admitted to a First Aid Hospital

This study aimed to provide information on the presence and frequency of viral and parasitic agents in wildlife presented to a Veterinary Teaching Hospital in 2020-2021. Serum and faecal samples were collected from 50 rescued animals (roe deer, fallow deer, foxes, badgers, pine martens, and porcupines) and examined by serological, molecular, and parasitological techniques. Transtracheal wash (TTW) was also collected post-mortem from roe deer. Overall, the results of the different techniques showed infections with the following viral and parasitic agents: Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus, Small Ruminant Lentiviruses, Kobuvirus, Astrovirus, Canine Adenovirus 1, Bopivirus, gastrointestinal strongyles, Capillaria, Ancylostomatidae, Toxocara canis, Trichuris vulpis, Hymenolepis, Strongyloides, Eimeria, Isospora, Dictyocaulus, Angiostrongylus vasorum, Crenosoma, Dirofilaria immitis, Neospora caninum, Giardia duodenalis, and Cryptosporidium. Sequencing (Tpi locus) identified G. duodenalis sub-assemblages AI and BIV in one roe deer and one porcupine, respectively. Adult lungworms collected from the TTW were identified as Dictyocaulus capreolus (COX1 gene). This is the first molecular identification of G. duodenalis sub-assemblage AI and D. capreolus in roe deer in Italy. These results show a wide presence of pathogens in wild populations and provide an overview of environmental health surveillance

A gênese do espaço semântico na filosofia tardia de Fichte

In this paper I argue that J. G. Fichte’s Wissenschaftlehre 1811 offers a sound model for explaining the conditions of semantics. The paper begins following the suggestion of Wolfram Hogrebe who introduced the concept of archaeological semantic postulate to define the implicit condition for a sentence to be meaningful. I maintain that in Fichte’s definition of the phenomenon of being we can find such a semantic postulate at a genetic higher level than the principle of contradiction indicated by Hogrebe. Moreover the WL 1811 offers an analysis of the steps through which the phenomenon displays itself – the ability, the as such, the ought to – that we can understand as the closest conditions for establishing a meaningful sentence

Biasing the perception of ambiguous vocal affect: a TMS study on frontal asymmetry

Several sources of evidence point toward a link between asymmetry of prefrontal brain activity and approach–withdrawal tendencies. Here, we tested the causal nature of this link and examined if the categorization of an ambiguous approach- or withdrawal-related vocal signal can be biased by manipulating left and right frontal neural activity. We used voice morphing of affective non-verbal vocalizations to create individually tailored affectively ambiguous stimuli on an Anger–Fear continuum—two emotions that represent extremes on the approach–withdrawal dimension. We tested perception of these stimuli after 10 min of low-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation over left or right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex or over the vertex (control), a technique that has transient inhibitory effects on the targeted brain region. As expected, ambiguous stimuli were more likely perceived as expressing Anger (approach) than Fear (withdrawal) after right prefrontal compared with left prefrontal or control stimulation. These results provide the first evidence that the manipulation of asymmetrical activity in prefrontal cortex can change the explicit categorization of ambiguous emotional signals
