The panelists discuss the American tendency to ignore aspects the past and the present and selectively remember history. Alice Fulton reads her poem “When I was Interrupted by the Bells” to demonstrate time as a source of inspiration and a rich subject of art as a way of approaching human existence. The panelists also discuss the human response to art as an interruption of time and an out-of-body experience, simultaneity of existence, and the historical repercussions of social revolution.
