On the nature of the spin-polarized hole states in a quasi-two-dimensional GaMnAs ferromagnetic layer
A self-consistent calculation of the density of states and the spectral
density function is performed in a two-dimensional spin-polarized hole system
based on a multiple-scattering approximation. Using parameters corresponding to
GaMnAs thin layers, a wide range of Mn concentrations and hole densities have
been explored to understand the nature, localized or extended, of the
spin-polarized holes at the Fermi level for several values of the average
magnetization of the Mn ystem. We show that, for a certain interval of Mn and
hole densities, an increase on the magnetic order of the Mn ions come together
with a change of the nature of the states at the Fermi level. This fact
provides a delocalization of spin-polarized extended states anti-aligned to the
average Mn magnetization, and a higher spin-polarization of the hole gas. These
results are consistent with the occurrence of ferromagnetism with relatively
high transition temperatures observed in some thin film samples and
multilayered structures of this material.Comment: 3 page
Consensus must be found on intravenous fluid therapy management in trauma patients
Introduction: Trauma is an important cause of death among young people and 30-40% of this mortality rate is due to hypovolemic shock, intensified by trauma's lethal triad: Hypothermia, Acidosis, and Coagulopathy. Nurses are responsible for managing fluid therapy administration in trauma victims. The purpose of this study is to analyse the reasons why intravenous fluid therapy is recommended for trauma patients' hemodynamic stabilization.
Methods: This narrative literature review included published and unpublished studies in English, Spanish or Portuguese between 1994 and January 2019. The search results were analyzed by two independent reviewers. Inclusion criteria encompasses quantitative studies involving trauma victims aged over 18 who underwent fluid therapy in a prehospital assessment context.
Results&Discussion: 11 quantitative studies were included. 9 involved the use of fluid therapy for hypotension treatment and 2 of the studies analyzed involved the use of warmed fluid therapy for hypothermia treatment. The analysis performed reveals that the administration of aggressive fluid therapy seems to be responsible for the worsening of the lethal triad. In the presence of traumatic brain injury, permissive hypotension is not allowed due to the negative impact on cerebral perfusion pressure. Used as warming measure, warmed fluid therapy does not seem to have a significant impact on body temperature.
Conclusions: There is no consensus regarding the administration of fluid therapy to trauma patients. This conclusion clearly supports the need to develop more randomized controlled trials in order to understand the effectiveness of such measure when it comes to control hypovolemia and hypothermia.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Asymptotic Entanglement Dynamics and Geometry of Quantum States
A given dynamics for a composite quantum system can exhibit several distinct
properties for the asymptotic entanglement behavior, like entanglement sudden
death, asymptotic death of entanglement, sudden birth of entanglement, etc. A
classification of the possible situations was given in [M. O. Terra Cunha,
{\emph{New J. Phys}} {\bf{9}}, 237 (2007)] but for some classes there were no
known examples. In this work we give a better classification for the possibile
relaxing dynamics at the light of the geometry of their set of asymptotic
states and give explicit examples for all the classes. Although the
classification is completely general, in the search of examples it is
sufficient to use two qubits with dynamics given by differential equations in
Lindblad form (some of them non-autonomous). We also investigate, in each case,
the probabilities to find each possible behavior for random initial states.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures; revised version accepted for publication in J.

Measurement compatibility in Bell nonlocality tests
CNPQ - CONSELHO NACIONAL DE DESENVOLVIMENTO CIENTÍFICO E TECNOLÓGICOFAPESP - FUNDAÇÃO DE AMPARO À PESQUISA DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULOIncompatibility of observables, or measurements, is one of the key features of quantum mechanics, related, among other concepts, to Heisenberg's uncertainty relations and Bell nonlocality. In this manuscript we show, however, that even though incompatible measurements are necessary for the violation of any Bell inequality, some relevant Bell-like inequalities may be obtained if compatibility relations are assumed between the local measurements of one (or more) of the parties. Hence, compatibility of measurements is not necessarily a drawback and may, however, be useful for the detection of Bell nonlocality and device-independent certification of entanglement.994110CNPQ - CONSELHO NACIONAL DE DESENVOLVIMENTO CIENTÍFICO E TECNOLÓGICOFAPESP - FUNDAÇÃO DE AMPARO À PESQUISA DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULOCNPQ - CONSELHO NACIONAL DE DESENVOLVIMENTO CIENTÍFICO E TECNOLÓGICOFAPESP - FUNDAÇÃO DE AMPARO À PESQUISA DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULOSem informação2018/07258-
Spin-polarized transport in ferromagnetic multilayered semiconductor nanostructures
The occurrence of inhomogeneous spin-density distribution in multilayered
ferromagnetic diluted magnetic semiconductor nanostructures leads to strong
dependence of the spin-polarized transport properties on these systems. The
spin-dependent mobility, conductivity and resistivity in
(Ga,Mn)As/GaAs,(Ga,Mn)N/GaN, and (Si,Mn)/Si multilayers are calculated as a
function of temperature, scaled by the average magnetization of the diluted
magnetic semiconductor layers. An increase of the resistivity near the
transition temperature is obtained. We observed that the spin-polarized
transport properties changes strongly among the three materials.Comment: 3 pages, 4 figure
The role of turbulent pressure as a coherent pulsational driving mechanism: the case of the delta Scuti star HD 187547
HD 187547 was the first candidate that led to the suggestion that solar-like
oscillations are present in delta Scuti stars. Longer observations, however,
show that the modes interpreted as solar-like oscillations have either very
long mode lifetimes, longer than 960 days, or are coherent. These results are
incompatible with the nature of `pure' stochastic excitation as observed in
solar-like stars. Nonetheless, one point is certain: the opacity mechanism
alone cannot explain the oscillation spectrum of HD 187547. Here we present new
theoretical investigations showing that convection dynamics can intrinsically
excite coherent pulsations in the chemically peculiar delta Scuti star HD
187547. More precisely, it is the perturbations of the mean Reynold stresses
(turbulent pressure) that drives the pulsations and the excitation takes place
predominantly in the hydrogen ionization zone.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, accepted to Ap
Melting temperature of screened Wigner crystal on helium films by molecular dynamics
Using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation, we have calculated the melting
temperature of two-dimensional electron systems on \AA-\AA helium
films supported by substrates of dielectric constants
at areal densities varying from cm to cm. Our results are in good agreement with the available
theoretical and experimental results.Comment: 4 pages and 4 figure
