    We highlight some of the interesting properties of a new and finite, exact family of solutions of 1 + 1 dimensional perfect fluid relativistic hydrodynamics. After reviewing the main properties of this family of solutions, we present the formulas that connect it to the measured rapidity and pseudo-rapidity densities and illustrate the results with fits to p+p collisions at 8 TeV and Pb+Pb collisions at sNN=5.02\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 5.02 TeV.Comment: Invited talk of T.     Transport model analysis of particle correlations in relativistic heavy ion collisions at femtometer scales

    The pion source as seen through HBT correlations at RHIC energies is investigated within the UrQMD approach. We find that the calculated transverse momentum, centrality, and system size dependence of the Pratt-HBT radii RLR_L and RSR_S are reasonably well in line with experimental data. The predicted ROR_O values in central heavy ion collisions are larger as compared to experimental data. The corresponding quantity RO2−RS2\sqrt{R_O^{2}-R_S^{2}} of the pion emission source is somewhat larger than experimental estimates.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures, to be published in PR

    The first physics results from the TOTEM experiment are here reported, concerning the measurements of the total, differential elastic, elastic and inelastic pp cross-section at the LHC energy of s\sqrt{s} = 7 TeV, obtained using the luminosity measurement from CMS.     KeV Warm Dark Matter and Composite Neutrinos

    Elementary keV sterile Dirac neutrinos can be a natural ingredient of the composite neutrino scenario. For a certain class of composite neutrino theories, these sterile neutrinos naturally have the appropriate mixing angles to be resonantly produced warm dark matter (WDM). Alternatively, we show these sterile neutrinos can be WDM produced by an entropy-diluted thermal freeze-out, with the necessary entropy production arising not from an out-of-equilibrium decay, but rather from the confinement of the composite neutrino sector, provided there is sufficient supercooling.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figures, published versio

    Resonances and fluctuations of strange particle in 200 GeV Au-Au collisions

    We perform an analysis of preliminary data on strange particles yields and fluctuations within the Statistical hadronization model. We begin by describing the theoretical disagreements between different statistical models currently on the market. We then show how the simultaneous analysis of yields and fluctuations can be used to differentiate between the different models, and determine if one of them can be connected to underlying physics. We perform a study on a RHIC 200 GeV data sample that includes stable particles, resonances, and the event-by-event fluctuation of the K/πK/\pi ratio. We show that the equilibrium statistical model can not describe the fluctuation, unless an unrealistically small volume is assumed. Such small volume then makes it impossible to describe the total particle multiplicity. The non-equilibrium model,on the other hand, describes both the K/πK/\pi fluctuation and yields acceptably due to the extra boost to the π\pi fluctuation provided by the high pion chemical potential. Λ(1520)\Lambda(1520) and K∗K^* abundance is described within error bars, but the Σ∗\Sigma^* is under-predicted to ∼\sim 1.5 standard deviations. We suggest further measurements that have the potential to test the non-equilibrium model, as well as gauge the effect of re-interactions between hadronization and freeze-out.Comment: References added, equations corrected.     Model-independent source imaging using two-pion correlations in 2 to 8A GeV Au + Au collisions

    We report a particle source imaging analysis based on two-pion correlations in high multiplicity Au + Au collisions at beam energies between 2 and 8A GeV. We apply the imaging technique introduced by Brown and Danielewicz, which allows a model-independent extraction of source functions with useful accuracy out to relative pion separations of about 20 fm. The extracted source functions have Gaussian shapes. Values of source functions at zero separation are almost constant across the energy range under study. Imaging results are found to be consistent with conventional source parameters obtained from a multidimensional HBT analysis.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
