Quadric tracing : a geometric method for accelerated sphere tracing of implicit surfaces
Sphere tracing is a common raytracing technique used for rendering implicit surfaces defined by a signed distance function (SDF). However, these distance functions are often expensive to compute, prohibiting several real-time applications despite recent efforts to accelerate it. This paper presents a method to precompute a slightly augmented distance field that hugely accelerates rendering. This novel method called quadric tracing supports two configurations: (i) accelerating raytracing without losing precision, so the original SDF is still needed; (ii) entirely replacing the SDF and tracing an interpolated surface. Quadric tracing can offer 20% to 100% speedup in rendering static scenes and thereby amortizing the slowdown caused by the complexity of the geometry
Linear circuit models for on-chip quantum electrodynamics
We present equivalent circuits that model the interaction of microwave
resonators and quantum systems. The circuit models are derived from a general
interaction Hamiltonian. Quantitative agreement between the simulated resonator
transmission frequency, qubit Lamb shift and experimental data will be shown.
We demonstrate that simple circuit models, using only linear passive elements,
can be very useful in understanding systems where a small quantum system is
coupled to a classical microwave apparatus
A nagyízületi endoprotézisek biokompatibilitásának és biológiai rögzítettségének in-vivo vizsgálata = In-vivo analysis of biocompatibility and fixation of joint endoprostheses
| The interactions between joint implant components and the host human tissue following hip replacement are not fully understood. In this study, we examined the reactivity of peripheral human leukocytes to various metal ions prior and following hip replacement in order to investigate implant induced metal sensitivity. We also systematically searched for serum and urine biomarkers to detect the periimplant tissue reactions. 6 months after hip replacement, 12% of the patients showed reactivity to the tested metals. Following the 36 month period, 18% of the implanted patients became sensitive to metals (including all the earlier 12%). Orthopedic implant material may induce metal reactivity after implantation in a manner where susceptibility yet to be elucidated. Leukocyte triple assay technique might be a useful tool to test implant material related sensitivity. In the biomarker analysis, patients having a known aseptic implant loosening showed increased levels of urine markers of chronic bone loss and serum markers of proinflammatory cytokines and osteoclast activation, when compared to control and complaint-free, well-functioning implanted groups. The well-functioning group, however, also showed a characteristic cytokine profile: a significant increase of markers of early osteoclast activation and early proinflammatory cytokines was found 36 months following hip replacement distinguishing a subgroup (27%) in which a premature tissue reaction can be detected before the onset of clinical symptoms
A bükk és a kocsánytalan tölgy elterjedésének szárazsági határa
A klímaváltozás feltételezett hatásának elôrevetítése céljából finom léptékû elemzésnek vetettük alá a bükk és a kocsánytalan
tölgy jelenlegi zonális elterjedését, illetve alsó/szárazsági elterjedési határát. Az elôfordulások modellezésénél mindkét
fafaj esetében a késô tavaszi és a nyári hômérséklet-, illetve csapadékadatok bizonyultak a legfontosabb magyarázó
változónak. A bükk érzékenységét a szárazságra jól mutatja az Ellenberg-index kiemelt jelentôsége a vizsgált változók
között. Más modellezések eredményével összhangban a különbözô klímaszcenáriókra számított elterjedésbeli változások
igen drasztikusak. Mivel már viszonylag csekély klimatikus változás is drámai mértékben csökkentheti mindkét faj
elterjedését, a felkészülés és a megfelelô erdôgazdálkodási módszerek alkalmazása sürgetô feladat, különösen a száraz
határtermôhelyeken
Effects of simulated forest cover change on projected climate change - a case study of Hungary
Climatic effects of forest cover change have been
investigated for Hungary applying the
regional climate model REMO.
For the end of the 21st century (2071–2100) case st
udies have been
analyzed assuming maximal afforestation (forests co
vering all vegetated area) and complete
deforestation (forests replaced by grasslands) of t
he country. For 2021–2025, the climatic influence o
f
the potential afforestation based on a detailed nat
ional survey has been assessed. The simulation
results indicate that maximal afforestation may red
uce the projected climate change through cooler
and moister conditions for the entire summer period
. The magnitude of the simulated climate change
mitigating effect of the forest cover increase diff
ers among regions. The smallest climatic benefit wa
s
calculated in the southwestern region, in the area
with the potentially strongest climate change. The
strongest effects of maximal afforestation are expe
cted in the northeastern part of the country. Here,
half of the projected precipitation decrease could
be relieved and the probability of summer droughts
could be reduced. The potential afforestation has a
very slight feedback on the regional climate
compared to the maximal afforestation scenari
