    Este TFG comprende el desarrollo y seguimiento de un Plan de Gestión para el experimento SPADE (Smartphone Platform for Acquisition of Data Experiment) dentro del programa REXUS/BEXUS. El experimento consistía en una plataforma inalámbrica basada en hardware comercial cuyo objetivo era analizar el rendimiento de la plataforma en condiciones estratosféricas como una primera aproximación a plataformas de sensores inalámbricas embarcadas en misiones de exploración espacial. Finalmente, fue lanzado en octubre de 2015 dentro del globo estratosférico BEXUS 21 con éxito. Este trabajo engloba la gestión desde la fase de definición hasta el lanzamiento del experimento. Se centra en los siguientes temas: • El análisis de los requisitos, limitaciones y recursos. • La planificación del experimento, incluyendo la distribución de carga de trabajo, su distribución a lo largo del tiempo y presupuesto. • La gestión del experimento junto con la gestión de riestos, logística, gestión de patrocinadores y proveedores y gestión de equipo. • Otras tareas desarrolladas como documentación, corrección de textos en inglés y divulgación.This TFG concerns the development and implementation of a Project Management Plan for SPADE experiment (Smartphone Platform for Acquisition of Data Experiment) within the REXUS/BEXUS programme. The experiment consisted in a wireless platform based at commercial hardware whose objective was to analyse the performance of the platform in stratospheric conditions as a first step of future wireless sensor network platforms ship in space exploration missions. Finally, the experiment was succesfully launched in October 2015 onboard the stratospheric balloon BEXUS 21. This work involves the management since the definition phase until the launch of the experiment.     Word sketches of descriptive modifiers in children's short stories for teacher training in teaching English as a foreign language

    .Stories have proved to be an important didactic resource in language teaching; therefore, teacher trainees are often encouraged to design story-based tasks. However, they may find difficulties in identifying the language typically found in children's stories. For this reason, the present paper aims at exploring a relevant feature of this genre, descriptive modifiers, in order to raise student teachers’ genre awareness and prompt them to use high-frequency words and phrases. In this corpus-based study, a number of key elements were first identified, then classified, and finally, their occurrences were analyzed to obtain patterns in their grammatical behavior and an inventory of their most common collocates. SketchEngine was used both to compile the corpus and to retrieve word sketches of each modifier. Gaining more insight into the language of stories can contribute to helping teacher trainees to perceive characteristic language in children-oriented text types and to develop their own storytelling abilities.S

    Making a little go a long way: A corpus-based analysis of a high-frequency word and some pedagogical implications for young Spanish learners

    [EN] This study explores the different uses of the word little, its equivalents in Spanish and its teaching to young Spanish learners. First, it aims at analyzing the lexico-grammatical behavior of little in a corpus of children‟s short stories, where its prevailing use, preceding countable nouns, has been found to be much more frequent than in other domains and registers. A contrastive study follows, which examines how little has been translated in an English-Spanish parallel corpus; the results show that diminutives constitute an important equivalent. Finally, some didactic implications are proposed, with the application of corpus-based findings to the teaching of English to young Spanish learners from an approach that combines lexical syllabi and story-based methodologies.S

    La investigación buscó ofrecer desde Básica Secundaria un conocimiento geométrico básico desde los informantes clave para conformar principios para la enseñanza de los cuadriláteros y su relación con el entorno real de estudiantes de sexto grado que le permita desenvolverse en la vida cotidiana para orientarse en la resolución de problemas que incluye conocimientos respecto a los cuadriláteros. La metodología empleada fue cualitativa, basada en el método fenomenológico hermenéutico. Los informantes claves fueron cinco (5) profesores de matemática que laboran en la Institución Educativa “Francisco José Caldas”, en Colombia. Como técnicas e instrumentos de recolección de información se emplearon los diálogos. Se reflejan algunos principios didácticos para la enseñanza de los cuadriláteros extraídos de la información dada por los informantes. The methodology used was qualitative, based on the hermeneutic phenomenological method. The key informants were five (5) mathematics teachers working at the "Francisco José Caldas" Educational Institution in Colombia. Dialogues were used as data collection techniques and instruments. Some didactic principles for the teaching of quadrilaterals extracted from the information given by the informants are reflected.     Deterioro cognitivo en la población mayor de 65 años que reside en el área metropolitana de Monterrey, México

    Antecedentes: la prevalencia de demencia se ha investigado extensamente en el mundo con resultados dispares por aplicar distintos criterios diagnósticos y metodologías. Un parámetro inicial en demencia es el deterioro cognitivo, presente desde su fase preclínica, esto permite detectarlo con instrumentos como el Minimental State Examination de Folstein & Folstein (MSSE), que ha sido validado y se aplica en todo el mundo. Objetivo: establecer la prevalencia del deterioro cognitivo en población con 65 y más años que reside en el Área Metropolitana de Monterrey, NL, México (AMM). Material y métodos: se llevó a cabo un estudio transversal epidemiológico en población con 65 y más años que reside en el (AMM) en una muestra de 239 individuos. Se aplicaron tres instrumentos: Consentimiento informado, cuestionario demográfico, prueba MMSE cuya puntuación máxima es 30, sus puntos de corte son 24 para población con escolaridad primaria y más, 21 sin escolaridad y 17 para analfabetos. Se eligió por azar manzana, acera, vivienda e individuo y previo consentimiento informado se aplicaron los instrumentos. Resultados: la prevalencia encontrada fue 10.8787%, (IC 95% de 6.99-14.78). Las pruebas de hipótesis fueron significativas para el grupo de edad 80-84 años (p = 0.02), que también obtuvo un RR de 3.58 (IC 95% de 1.26-10.9). Conclusión: la prevalencia de deterioro cognitivo en el (AMM), no es diferente a la reportada por países latinos como Cuba, Argentina, es mayor a la de Corea, China y Egipto y menor que en EUA, España, Inglaterra y Gales. Por grupos de edad, de 80-84 años es estadísticamente significativo y con un alto riesgo

    A Methodological proposal for the study of semantic functions across languages

    p. 360-380After a brief revision of the major currents of thought and grammatical models in the history of CS (Contrastive Studies), a method of analysis suitable for corpus-based descrip-tive studies across languages is presented and discussed in this paper. As an alternative to translation corpora, the use of comparable corpora is advocated and put into practice in a large-scale research on a particular semantic function, quantification, and its expres-sion in two languages, English and Spanish. The different phases of the process are explained and a summary of achievements is provided. The ultimate purpose of the paper is to contribute to the strengthening of the discipline by offering new results about one pair of languages and by suggesting a methodology that can be broadly applied to different semantic fields and pairs of languages.S

    La industria alimentaria: análisis del consumo de energía en los países de la Unión Europea

    Uno de los objetivos estratégicos de la Unión Europea es la lucha contra el cambio climático. La industria europea de la alimentación y bebidas es el sector manufacturero más importante de la UE por volumen de ventas y empleo. Esta industria debe contribuir en el logro de una economía más sostenible con mayor eficiencia energética y menores emisiones de CO2 al medio ambiente. Este proyecto consiste en el análisis del consumo de energía de la industria alimentaria en los países de la Unión Europea. Se realiza un análisis del consumo total de energía con relación a las horas empleadas, un análisis de la intensidad energética con relación a la renta, y un análisis del consumo total de energía con relación al capital y se concluirá que la tendencia de los países es positiva. Para conseguir mayor eficiencia energética será necesario incorporar fuentes de energía renovables como el gas natural, la energía solar o la biomasa. Algunos de los instrumentos de financiación podrían ser: las subvenciones y préstamos a la inversión en energías renovables o la reducción de impuestos para fomentar el uso de energías limpias.One of the strategic objectives of the European Union is the fight against climate change. The European food and beverage industry is the most important manufacturing sector in the EU by sales volume and employment. This industry should contribute to achieving a more sustainable economy with greater energy efficiency and lower CO2 emissions to the environment. This project consists of the analysis of the energy consumption of the food industry in the countries of the European Union. An analysis is made of the total energy consumption in relation to the hours of employment, an analysis of energy intensity in relation to income, and an analysis of total energy consumption in relation to capital and it will be concluded that the trend of the countries is positive. To achieve a greater energy efficiency it will be necessary to incorporate renewable energy such as natural gas, solar energy or biomass. Some of the financing instruments could be: subsidies and loans to investment in renewable energies or the reduction of taxes to encourage the use of clean energy.Universidad de Sevilla.     Teaching and translating synonyms: The case of almost and nearly

    p. 53-67The purpose of this paper is to present a series of interlinguistic inequi valences and to specifically anal yse one of them; this leads us to revise one of the most important intralinguistic phenomena with relevance in contrastive studies, synonymy, by means of an empirical methodology based on corpora. What is advocated here is the fact that even two such similar words as almost and nearly may be dissimilar in the realm of language use; they are very close in meaning and they usually correspond to a single ítem in other languages, for example in Spanish, but their behaviour differs in many respects. A great deal has been said about the fact that translators, teachers and students of foreign languages sometimes cannot avoid thinking in terms of words, a tendency that is very much disapproved of and very much fought against by themselves. One of the reasons might be the influence of the written medium, where all words are set apart from one another by means of a blank space and another could be the way our mind works, trying to structure all knowledge. Whatever the reason, it is a risky but daily habit to give one-word translations for words in another language without paying attention to the context in which they occur. This paper aims at raising the issue of intralinguistic synonymy and its relevance in the field of Contrastive Studies, Second Language Teaching and Translation. We advocate the idea that synonymy and other semantic and linguistic phenomena must be observed in the light of language use, within a functional approach and through empirical and descriptive research. The first part will consist of a theoretical exposition of the two most relevant facts concerning this subject, which are interlinguistic and intralinguistic relations of linguistic items, that is, their links with similar words in other languages on the one hand and their connection to similar words in the same language on the other. And the second part will provide sorne empirical evidence that shows that two socalled synonyms are not so to such a great extent as has always been considered and should therefore be taught differently.S
