    Usability of Urban Air Mobility: Quantitative and Qualitative Assessments of Usage in Emergency Situations

    The purpose of these four studies was to determine participants’ willingness to support the use of urban air mobility (UAM) in response to natural disasters, along with the preferred locations to establish vertiports. Study 1 assessed the willingness to support using a mixed factorial design. The findings demonstrated strong, robust support for the use of UAM when responding to natural disasters. Study 2 worked to create and validate a scale that could assess vertiports\u27 current and proposed locations. The Vertiport Usability Scale was developed and shown to have strong psychometric properties to validly assess vertiport locations through a multi-stage process. Study 3 used the Vertiport Usability Scale to understand the most highly preferred locations for vertiports in three conditions from a multi-stage process: temporary disaster locations, permanent disaster locations, and permanent consumer locations. Study 4 was conducted using qualitative methods to complement the earlier quantitative approaches. Through an initial survey and follow-on interview, three themes emerged related to UAM in response to natural disasters and vertiports: 1) human involvement in UAM operations, 2) scenarios for usage, and 3) setup and deployment of vehicles

    Condensation of SMDTC with 2-furyl-methylketone and 5-methyl-2-furaldehyde gave isomeric Schiff bases, (NS) and (NS'). The metal complexes of these uninegatively charged bidentate Schiff base ligands with cadmium, tin, iron, lead and cobalt have been prepared. The complexes have been characterized by a variety of physico-chemical techniques. X-ray crystallographic analysis shows that the Cd(II) complex, bis[S-methyl-β-N-(2-furylmethylketone)dithiocarbazato]cadmium(II), consists of two molecules with distorted octahedral structure. The Co(II) complexes are paramagnetic with a square-planar stereochemistry. The diamagnetic Sn(II), Fe(III) and Pb(II) complexes also have square-planar structures while the diamagnetic [Cd(NS')2]. 3H2O complex is tetrahedral. The [Cd(NS')2].3H2O, [Sn(N'S)2) and [Co(NS)2] showed clear inhibition of almost all bacteria and fungi tested However, [Cd(NS)2], [Fe(NS)]Cl2, [Pb(NS)2] and [Pb(NS')2] were inactive against all bacteria assayed while [Cd(NS)2], [Fe(NS)]Cl2 and [Pb(NS)2] showed clear inhibition of some fungi. The [Cd(NS)2], [Cd(NS')2].3H2O and [Co(NS)2] were found to be very active against Human cell T-lymphoblastic leukemia (CEM-SS) and cervical cancer cells (HELA) with CD50 values between 1.8 and 3.6 μl cm-3

    Data from the first four cycles of the Germplasm Evaluation Program at the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC) were used to investigate genetic relationships between mature weight (MW, n = 37,710), mature weight adjusted for body condition score (AMW, n = 37,676), mature height (HT, n = 37,123), and BCS (n = 37,676) from 4- to 8-yr old cows (n = 1,800) and carcass traits (n = 4,027) measured on their crossbred paternal half-sib steers. Covariance components among traits were estimated using REML. Carcass traits were adjusted for age at slaughter. Estimates of heritability for hot carcass weight (HCWT); percentage of retail product; percentage of fat; percentage of bone; longissimus muscle area; fat thickness adjusted visually; estimated kidney, pelvic, and heart fat percentage; marbling score; Warner-Bratzler shear force; and taste panel tenderness measured on steers were moderate to high (0.26 to 0.65), suggesting that selection for carcass and meat traits could be effective. Estimates of heritability for taste panel flavor and taste panel juiciness were low and negligible (0.05 and 0.01, respectively). Estimates of heritability from cow data over all ages and seasons were high for MW, AMW, and HT (0.52, 0.57, 0.71; respectively) and relatively low for BCS (0.16). Pair-wise analyses for each female mature trait with each carcass trait were done with bivariate animal models. Estimates of genetic correlations between cow mature size and carcass composition or meat quality traits, with the exception of HCWT, were relatively low. Selection for cow mature size (weight and/or height) could be effective and would not be expected to result in much, if any, correlated changes in carcass and meat composition traits. However, genetic correlations of cow traits, with the possible exception of BCS, with HCWT may be too large to ignore. Selection for steers with greater HCWT would lead to larger cows

    The title compound, C17H16N2S2, a dithio­carbazate derivative, adopts an EE configuration with respect to the C=C and C=N double bonds of the propenyl­idine group. The 3-phenyl­prop-2-enyl­idene and dithio­carbazate fragments lie essentially in the same plane, with a maximum deviation from that plane of 0.074 (2) Å, while the dihedral angle between the 3-phenyl­prop-2-enyl­idene and the benzyl group is 77.78 (7)°. In the crystal structure, mol­ecules are linked by an N—H⋯S hydrogen bond and a weak C—H⋯S inter­action involving the terminal thione S atom, forming dimers that are arranged into sheets parallel to the bc plane. The crystal structure is also stabilized by C—H⋯π inter­actions
